You're right ,Lzzy has done tons of collaborations. This song came out last year. A more recent collab is "Mercy" by The Native Howl feat Lzzy.
Daughtry is so under rated. He has an incredible voice.
This cover popping up in my RUclips recommended last year was the first time I heard either of them. Needless to say, they made a lasting impression. It's cool to see your enthusiastic reaction to it.

Wonderful reaction, Rachel. Absolutely love this cover. While they aren't IN love, they certainly love each other. There isn't a way to open your soul and emote as well as they do without loving each other. Music is a very loving act.
A Lzzy collaboration you probably missed was one done during the pandemic, and it was an important one for Lzzy. LA based German duo The Picturebooks took it upon themselves to ask several heavy-hitting vocalists to add to their music in an album called "The Major/Minor Collective". One of the people they reached out to was Lzzy. Lzzy has said that she was in a major funk at the time, like so many touring musicians, wondering her worth. Lzzy said that the invite was one of the things that helped her get out of the hell she was putting herself through. The song is entitled "Rebel", and it's a basic top of your voice anthem. Lzzy sounds incredible on it.
Love this cover. Bedtime part is a few times he looks at Lzzy like OMG, she did that... he's not thenonly one ever wowed from a moment, lol

Funny story, My sister had this Journey album. I was reading this horror story book at the time. I can NEVER hear the original without getting chills, like 40 years later..😂

On March 26th, 2024, while in Melbourne, VIC, Australia, I got to see Lizzy sing w/ David Draiman. Plus, I got to meet David as we sat next to each other at breakfast buffet at the hotel both day before and of the Knot festival.
I love this combo.

This is an amazing cover that said you've got 2 voices doing what Steve, all by himself, does on this song. Having seen him do it live just takes it to an unbelievable level.
Great song and Steve Perry is just a rock vocal god. This is a fantastic cover, though. To make it a little heavier and have these two voices sing it as a duet is pretty killer.

This is the only cover of a Journey song that I've felt has done it justice...It's hard to beat The Voice himself, Steve Perry. Not that they beat him, but they are at least close lol

Also, Lzzy Hale was featured on another incredible cover, that being a cover of Ozzy and Lita Ford's "Close My Eyes Forever", done by Device (which is The industrial metal side project of Disturbed's David Draiman).

@@stevenjackson3906nobody covers an iconic song to better it. They cover it to honour it. With that being said, my personal preference is this song. But that's mainly cause I like hard rock and metal.
Daughtry is one of those artists that you can’t not like any of his songs. That voice.
This is nowhere near close to the original, sorry. I am not the biggest Journey fan, but this is one of my fave songs by the band and you cannot beat Perrys vocals on it.
I really do not like Daughtrys voice, and certainly not in this song. And as much as I love Lzzy and Halestorm, this is another of those cases with her where she goes over the top with the vocals. If she dialled them back a bit on this and didn't do her more shouty vocals, her performance would have been better. I get the feeling she only did that because of the heavier musical tone they went with.
Would love to hear her do something more akin to the original on her own.
Btw, Lzzy has not done many collabs this year as most of the ones you are seeing are older. This one for instance was last year.
She has been doing them since nearly the beginning. Lindsey Stirling was 10 years ago, The Hu was 4 years ago. Ashley McBride. Avatar and Sophie Lloyd were last year . Gwar 2 years ago. She has done a couple with Shinedown over the last 10 years or so. I think Adrenaline Mob was like 12 years ago.
She has always been open to collaborating with other artists because she is a huge fangirl basically. She is one of only a handful of big name artists who really is in this for the love of the music not the fame.
I could easily see her collaborating with The Warning and Ghost at some point as well.
