That's such a great video, thank you!! I love the way you talk and smile, it is very calming. I have a question: Does it matter with which DJ-software I pre-analyze my tracks? I use Traktor and I'm wondering if it would cause any trouble if I plug my Traktor pre-analyzed tracks into a cdj..
you make it sound like it is a privilige to play on club equipment, even if it is faulty and could ruin your whole mix.Now it depends on the music, venue and many other factors, but for many people a very specific setup,or at least features are required in order to perform their way and thus as the crowd expects.I'm sure a race driver is perfectly fine driving any car,but they're not gonna perform well unless they have something that can showcase their strenghts.I d also like to hear more about the sound quality differences between equipment.

It can differ from venue to venue, but pretty much all gear has same layout. The big difference between old and new gear is screen visibility. If you can mix without looking at the beats and just use the mini waveform to see where you are in the track you'll be ok.

Hot cues are on most controllers and allow you to jump real time around the track (eg: can do remixes on the fly) as memory cues are compatible with all club gear and are more for mapping your songs (eg: in and out points). If you are using Serato though, you can only use Hot Cues (eg: the performance pads), but when you turn up to play in clubs they will expect you to use USBS and to prepare music for USBS you must use Rekordbox and that's when memory cues come into play. Sorry mate but as I'm coming from an IT geek background, I can tell you that if you have a computer hooked up to a controller, searching for a track by typing in part of the track name / artist name and or by keywords from the comments that I've added to the track, will be always faster than searching for a track sequentially with a knob on a CDJ. IMHO Relying too much on the fixed/frozen hardware is like staying with an old cell phone Vs using a smartphone. Sure you don't want to throw away the interface that you touch with your hands, jog wheels, faders, button and all but for the rest the UI that you see and the type effects the computer software is far easier to enhance and has unlimited potentials
I agree, this video is more about showing people a comparison between controllers and club gear. I don't recall ever saying one is better than the other or that it's easier to load songs on CDJS, as I agree with everything you are saying. This video is more for people that have grown up on controllers and want to know the difference between what they have a club gear and trying to point out that all gear shares the same BASIC operations :)
Well, there's a reason that controllers came after CDJ's and are better in practically every single way, while CDJ's are only held onto out of steep investment and overall stubbornness regarding said investment by venues... Oh, and the same people who tried to claim (falsely) that digital music was cheating or a shortcut for vinyl, aka "Luddites". Here in Vegas, even our H&M's have live DJ's with *controller's and laptop's*. If a club was to tell a performer they both couldn't bring their own gear AND they only had CDJ's, theyd get laughed off the Strip. IOW, the only clubs still rocking CDJ's and banning performer gear in the booth are obsolete, dusty AF, and spent way too much money that they probably didnt have on what is essentially the VHS-format of DJ'ing, so now they cant get current, lmao.
great explanation but i suggest you to take down the volume of music in background.

I don't recall ever saying one is better than the other or that it's easier to load songs on CDJS, as I agree with everything you are saying. This video is more for people that have grown up on controllers and want to know the difference between what they have a club gear and trying to point out that all gear shares the same BASIC operations :)
@@ClubReadyDJSchool fair point :-) Thanks so much again for all the great work you do
Well, there's a reason that controllers came after CDJ's and are better in practically every single way, while CDJ's are only held onto out of steep investment and overall stubbornness regarding said investment by venues...
Great videos but am I the only one that thinks the music is a bit overpowering? Thank you for sharing.
Yes this is my earlier stuff - I got better at it!
The main difference between a controller and club gear... About 6 grand.
Hahaha true dat
The background music while you are talking is terrible.. bad idea....
This was one of the first videos I ever posted, go easy on me lol!
@@ClubReadyDJSchool I know mate, your latest videos are great.
How r most of y’all paying for this shit cause I don’t have thousands of dollars to blow at any given time lol
Haha I hear you, I'm saving for an upgrade myself! The DDJ 400's a good cheaper entry level controller that has a similar layout to club gear
Music wayyy too loud. Can barely focus on what you're saying man.
If you can’t beat match you shouldn’t be paid money to “dj”
No sound quality comparación that sucks
