I always use the master and the Channel cue I’m mixing in so If I use effects in a mix I can hear it in my headphones because sometimes on a big Soundsystem you can’t really tell how much is too much with the booth monitors. I’ve mixed with just the cues and I’ve accidentally left on echo without realising and I couldn’t hear it since I was only using the channel cues. I use the X7s however I use them in mono since I always like to have one ear listening out.
Ahh, I didn't know for months for what the master cue button is there. I always mixed with the two headphone cue buttons. But now I got it. Excellent explanation!
I've always half master and half cued and full master just as I mix in. Always found that way soooooo much easier for precision matching and so that the volumes are equal
I couldn't agree more, but I know when teaching beginners, this adds ore to do and sometimes they are already juggling the steps of the mixing process, so this is something I ease them into gradually, but yes this is also the way I do it and recommend :)
Your videos truly are a blessing, you address the information in such a pleasant and no-nonsense way it's incredibly valuable. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the world!!!
I use iems and couldn’t figure out how to use it cause of the sound isolation after this video I can use it better than headphone it’s very easy to heat match now. Thanks for you straight forward video mate love
Hi mate hope you and your family are well in these uncertain times, I have the pioneer x10 headphones my god there amazing and crystal clear, keep up the good work love the techno lesson you did more on that style of music please
Just got some DDJ 1000's and the latency is a major issue. Never had this problem with vinyl using 1210 mk2's and a DJM 500. Been mixing without headphones for now but don't really like to set cue points as they might not be accurate. I proffer to use my hand to hold and then throw the track in like you would with vinyl. This is gonna take some getting used to. But if the latency issue is unfixable, I have just spent thousands on an expensive paper weight.
I personally use headphones on the entire time and put the master in the cue. My reason is that it helps with effects and there's also a latency issue some of the time when using speakers. Great video btw! I've gotten online festivals through using your theories and videos to help with mixing! Also, I personally use HyperX Cloud Revolvers as my headphones, they're meant for gaming but they are great for mixing too!
Nice explanation. Nothing better then good booth monitors though. Also, I’m somewhat surprised when I see DJs with no headphones. They are to reliant on matching waveforms by sight, silent cue, hot cues, etc. Those techniques are fine but nothing better than you ear for good beat matching and preview.
Absolute great videos! Could you tell me the name of the song playing at the beginning? :) I've been binge-watching everything from you the last couple of days! Keep it up!
This was really helpful. Quick question though, would it help to turn down the booth monitor volume when you listen to both channels on cue? I find that the sound coming from the main speakers as well as the booth monitors and the headphones is very chaotic
I’m having an issue with my cue buttons. For some reason I can only hear the song that is playing out loud through my headphones, both when the cue button is pressed and when it’s not, I can not hear the song that I’m about to bring in. Does anyone know why?
Hey man i recently purchased Pioneer DDJ-400, there’s no master cue button in that just cue buttons for deck 1 and 2. How do i adjust the master and cue mix in that? If i turn all the way to master, i cannot hear anything and if i put it in middle, then i hear both tracks equally loud (cue on for both) Can you please help me?
Great content but the background music became distracting also your voice is a bit bassy and not totally clear, but good information as all your videos.
This is awesome mate, been trying to find a video about cue-ing for ages and couldn't find a single one until this vid, thanks!

Bless you for going straight to the point. What a great informative video sir.

Yes it's a game changer when it comes to headphone work :)

Thank you for this video! There aren't many videos on RUclips clearly explaining this topic...

Essentially turning the master- cue dail into a headphone crossfader

Great video, may i suggest to lower the background music?
so just to clarify you suggest to mix with knob around 11 o'clock?

realy great video. just explaned in one minutes the most important thing. great one. keep it real.
My friend, do you think the IEM 300 or 900 by Sennheiser can be suitable for DJ mixing?
I think when my hd25 is broken im gonna buy in ear plugs. Møre comfortable
Nice video as always, just thought it was a bit hard hearing you over the background music
Hey man, great video as usual
Ive just subbed - this is gold. Do you have a full video tuition - udemy

Another great video. Thanks.
Excellent video simple and very clear thank u bro
how come you need to cue both songs? isn't the one that's already full volume playing through your headphones?
I’m having an issue with my cue buttons. For some reason I can only hear the song that is playing out loud through my headphones, both when the cue button is pressed and when it’s not, I can not hear the song that I’m about to bring in. Does anyone know why?
Game changer using master cue rather than one ear on headphone and other ear off. Thanks.
This is a question I’ve had for a while. Thank you so much for clarifying this!
Great vídeo! Direct to the point
Well explained thanks!
Awesome video, thank you
My pleasure!

There is a master cue on the ddj-400, it's just under the master volume adjust at the top and above the beat fx section
Your great man..
it's amazing how much ddj 400 is similar to 2k mixer
Great content but the background music became distracting also your voice is a bit bassy and not totally clear, but good information as all your videos.
CUE LINK BUTTON ????
get rid of the music in the background
like in a club
💘
Your videos are great, but background music sometimes drowns what you are saying
You're right, these were my older videos, I've gotten better haha
Great video but the background music is distracting and too loud
These were my older videos, I got better at this like this with time haha ;)
