Very nice review, thank you! The sonic spectrum of the Hydrasynth always amazes me. Like some other RUclipsr said: this machine can do it all. Analog-ish sounds, harsh digital sounds ... so cool. I mean, yeah sure, a 5k analog synth might have the upper hand when it comes to pure analog sound. But on the other hand the Hydrasynth gives you so much flexibility. And in the mix most people won't be able to tell the difference anyway ;-) I also think that the big brother, the deluxe version, is a hell of a synth. But it's most likely more suited towards live performances.
Some beautiful sound design on display, you should take some time to put a preset pack together. Sell it for a reasonable price and you'll move a ton of them.
This is why I keep browsing RUclips synth videos. Just the fact that it has free running oscillators, I don't believe I have seen that nugget of info before.
I just ordered this synth as my first hardware synth and I’m a newbie and the more I look into it the more intimidated I’m becoming by the whole undertaking, I have zero knowledge of sound design, by the way the sounds you were showing and the awesome melodies you were dropping were tight my man, your a talented artist
Killer stuff man. I've been searching for "Hydra Funk" hoping to hear something like some of this but couldn't find anything. Also "It's hard to freak it" - for fucking real. I hate those lil touch strips. I work in mech engineering and I plan to my Orange Hydra Explorer to have a real pitch/mod wheel. I'll give you a shout if I get it freakn.
A major criticism is that it can't sound analog. So many Hydrasynth patchmakers are showing other wise. The presets seem to be made to show of the poly aftertouch, vs concentrating on showing it off sonically.
I really wished more for the 49 key version. But I think the Explorer hits a sweet spot in regards to portability and desktop space saving in the studio. I already have a 61 key Korg Trinity so that is pretty huge. This one pretty much fits in an under desk drawer and or a small side desk or table. Has all the same 8 polyphonic engine as the 49 key and desktop versions and the current price of $599 is so much more accessible to everyday musicians on a budget. ❤❤❤ Win win ❤❤
Definitely needs to have some post-processing through an analog pedal to help remove the more tin/glassy DX7 feel. I think I use it more as a controller w the beautiful keyboard w aftertouch, polyphony and release velocity for other analog synth modules. Also works great for Arturia’s CS-80 and Pigments with their polyphony and aftertouch abilities. Great for what it does and an amazing first synth! 🤘
It’s Saturday, April 27, 2024 as I comment. In 2 days, I’ll probably order a Hydrasynth Explorer for myself. One of its short-term applications will be succeeding my KARP Odyssey when I go to rehearse with my current band. The Odyssey is equipped with the PPC pads. I imagine I will relate to the touch strips from the angle of having used the PPC pads while playing the Odyssey.
I bought one with basically ZERO knowledge of keys or synths. I'm so hooked. I'll set up arps or get the loop pedal out and play drums along with sick synth lines. This thing and the Nord Drum go together so well that it makes me think God is real, this can't be a coincidence.
This is my current struggle. Will I regret not having the full keyed. This will be my gigging synth so performance/feel is important but....so is price.
To my ear this synth is all digital. Not really impressed by this piece of gear.I would rather download a couple of thousand samples for a cheap price..Good vid anyway. Thanks.
You should make some preset packs. You easily sell those.

By far the best synth for the money today, and its not close!!!!
I have to agree. It's sound is unmatched.

It’s nice and very complex but dope!!! I like the lights. Thank you for sharing!!!😊👏🏼🎉🎵🎹💕

really nice point of view here. I'm waiting for mine, so amazing
Random is one of my favorite features. It can come up with some unique ideas and starting points.
It gets wild n hot pretty quick though if you let it randomise everything. Shift and random utilises the presets for randomness, which is nice also.
Super great digital synth, hits way above its pricetag. I have the desktop but I want the deluxe now.

Totally awesome tutorial! Subbed ❤
Loved that pad bro❤
thank you!!
Jesus...GREAT presets man! Been thinking about the Deluxe a pretty long time now... i think this kinda settles it
Really love the tone-sound. could play Jump To It by Aretha easy.
If you press shift+random, it will use the current presets to influence randomness. Just clicking random twice will get wild fast.
If you wan't something really special get the deluxe, you won't believe the duel engine sound with full polytouch!!!!! Worth every penny!!!!!

If you work on your sound design skills you'll find the hydra is blank canvass that can sound like whatever you want it to, if use it right.
@@GoodAfternoonDaveBut then I wouldn't need to buy more synths and that's no fun ;)
@@LAZ-org then you buy only analog sounds and miss the "thin glassy dx7 sound"
@@CR-sj7xd I just know the day I get rid of mine will probably be that day where I need a great Taco Bell/Top Gun "bong" sound.

Very encouraging similar position, I have an mpc 2000xl just ordered this synth and I plan to spaz on this thing 😆🥳
yo , watching now. nice to see you on it
You should make a present bank of 50 musical synth sounds of the 70s and 80s
Nice review, thanks.
Thank you for taking a moment to check it out!! great Synth!
Def need these presets are there any plans to release them on your site?
@@Massproduce201 yes. I will be finishing the collection

I slept on a synth once. My back hurt for _days._
You won't believe what you was missing if you get a 49 key version of this, or even the deluxe..

@@knicksfan518 The polyphonic aftertouch on full sized keys is worth the cost.
Ray Barbee just put out a youtube vid called "daydreaming" and he plays this on it.
Need help: Should I get the Explorer or Digitone 2? 🎶
I like the explorer
@ thanks, I’m leaning towards the explorer.
I got the Microfreak and are saving to buy the Explorer ❤
This combination is best of both worlds ❤️❤️❤️
I got the Digitone 2 on Friday lol
Subbed ! 🤩👍

Still haven't heard anything from this thing that someone couldn't do with a 18 year old Blofeld.
Don't feel bad about sleeping on this, most people are still sleep!!!!!! And really don't have a clue.
