    Great job doctor, I appreciate your posts. Q, should we further investigate the success rate of this hard sintered milled prosthesis due to possible micro-cracks?? Do we have such studies in vitro at least? Kindly help directing me to reading materials about it.
    Thanks a million docs.

      Thanks, Belal. Tetragonal zirconia (which this BruxZir is) has a fascinating property called transformation toughening. The material undergoes a phase change if any cracks form on the surface that help to prevent further propagation that typically occurs with glass ceramics. Our internal studies have revealed the strength between traditional lab processed (green state milling followed by sintering) and fully sintered milling are the same, if not slightly stronger with sintered milling. Zirconia behaves unlike any other ceramic material available. It will be fascinating to see how zirconia evolves in dentistry.

    Is there usually a need to adjust the adaptation of the crown margins when finishing or does the initial milling get the margin emergence perfect?

      The mill creates the margins ideally where it's marked on the software, so no post-mill adjustment necessary. I recommend at least a chamfer preparation to make room for material to avoid any overhangs or bulky emergence contours.

    Really, what is the reason to change it till it breaks

      I get what you are saying here. Usually that small of a break is ok, but even a small break can result in supraeruption or tilting of the upper tooth which will adversely effect the prep the next time it needs done.

    Is there enough vertical height to get IRR? Seems pretty short. Why not CCL?

    • @justinchi9931
      @justinchi9931 5 лет назад +3

      Prep is a bit short to establish the 1.5mm clearance. Lingual prep height is 3mm, buccal about 2mm. I've had success using RMGI on preps with at least a 3mm wall. If any shorter I'll use a bonding protocol before crown lengthening. I'll crown lengthen only if in danger of biologic width invasion. Thanks for the question

      @@arkangel113080 As a technician I like to mimic the natural adjacent teeth with staining. Staining doesn't always mean cavity or decay.
