    By far one of the best Disney sequels. Not perfect of course, but definitely watchable.

    I don’t hate this movie. It’s not terrible. It does try to recreate the look and feel of the first movie. For the most part, it succeeds

    You could say Pongo and Perdita were given the Mrs. Brisby treatment. If you've seen Secret of NIMH 2.

    I really love this film, I think in my opinion it does stand out to the other Disney sequels and it actually feels “fresh” in a way, even though, it’s predictable and the issue as u said could be solved in a tv episode, but at the same time, I just really like this film. I e always felt like I could relate to Patch in a way, I even think he could possibly have traits of autism and OCD, because of how I’m in the spectrum slightly myself. So I can see why people would find his trait of reminiscing episodes and numbers would be annoying, but I honestly didn’t find it annoying strangely, and also the fact that he does spoil some of the episodes which annoys his siblings indirectly?
    I do feel like that even though, people would find Patch annoying in this film, I actually like the change from him being a bit of a potty mouth in the first film to being more quiet, shy, humble, but intelligent. In my opinion, it’s most likely this change happens because not only was he kidnapped with his siblings, but also the fact, his parents have adopted 85 new siblings which is quite a lot to take in.

    I had a feeling this one would be what would get the most votes from last months poll. I admit I haven't watched 101 Dalmatians 2, and even as a kid watching the trailers, I wasn't entirely sold on it. I was sort of worried it was just going to follow the same beats as Lady and the Tramp 2. But from what you described here, I guess that if I ever end up having to watch it, it doesn't sound like it'll be too bad (apart from being too far-removed from the feel of the original, and a whole other string of clichés).
    To be honest, I hope Mark Twain gets the most votes for the next Jambareeqi Orange, instead of Return of Jafar; I would hate to see this series turn into 'Jambareeqi DTV-Disney-sequel Orange'! XD

    You’re right. It’s definitely not faithful compared to the original but yes it is one of the more watchable sequels. Few griping moments to sit through here and there but there are some things that do save it a small bit. As you pointed out already, there are far worse sequels for kids to watch...

    Jambareeqi. If I may ask. When it comes to children's media. Do you think there should be a balance between the more intelligent content (To give them something unforgettable and challenging) and the more mindless content (the kind that kids watch to relief some stress out after a day of school)?

    • @Jambareeqi
      @Jambareeqi  5 лет назад +9

      It's important to remember that fun and intelligent aren't mutually exclusive tones, you can make something that respects a child's intelligence while having a sense of humour too, the works of Tex Avery & Chuck Jones are testament to this.

    • @icecreamhero2375

      It's the Disney Xerox style. In the 60's they xeroxed the pencil lines directly on to the cels instead of the inkers tracing them. That cut costs so they didn't have to pay all those inkers.

    I swear, am I the ONLY person on Earth who feels like they completely changed Patch's character in this sequel compared to the original movie?? In the first movie, Patch angrily tears at the carpet and literally straight up says that he wants to kill the villain on the TV during the scene where the Dalmatians watch Thunderbolt. It's strongly implied that he was supposed to be a short-tempered, headstrong kid with a protective big brother instinct (He stands up for Lucky when Horace pushes him down from the TV in Hell Hall later in the movie too) which is NEVER reflected in this DTV sequel. Those unique traits, along with his implied bond with Penny (they're the only puppies that directly talk to each other that isn't Pongo or Perdy) and difficult relationship with Perdita that could have been developed into a decent, fleshed out character are deleted entirely in favor of downgrading him into a weak, passive runt with little self-confidence who won't shut the fuck up about how great Thunderbolt is. Yes, it was clear that he knew more about the show than his other siblings in the first movie, but he was never THIS obsessed. Patch's character in this movie is *defined* by his affinity for his idol. Even when he comes into his own in the film's third act, his actions are still very much rooted in his obsession for Thunderbolt. Patch in this movie isn't a *bad* child protagonist per say, but he is really is not the same kid from the first movie.

    • @thesapphireone
      @thesapphireone 5 месяцев назад +1

      I agree, while Patch is still likeable character and Bobby Lockwood gave a decent performance, I never liked how they pretty much gave him Lucky’s personality, with the latter being more quiet, meek and shy, and it’s doubly ironic since he has PATCH’S character in the TV show! I get that they altered Patch to make him more relatable to kids who’ve gone through similar identity crises or have multiple siblings, but it does bother me a lot that they changed Patch from a gutsy, confident pup into Lucky 2.0 just to get across the message, they could’ve kept him the same as he was in the first movie and write the second movie around that. I also agree that Patch defines himself TOO MUCH from Thunderbolt, which not only goes against the message of putting celebrities on pedestals, but also takes away from Patch’s arc of finding the courage and confidence in himself to be himself and be his own hero.
      Maybe if the film had ended with Thunderbolt offering Patch to become his new sidekick on his show, but Patch, realising that the show was just escapist fantasy and he didn’t NEED it to be brave, along with not wanting to leave his family for it, politely declines, which Thunderbolt accepts and says that he’s going to have a holiday to get away from the spotlight, and after a heartfelt goodbye, they all gather for the photograph like at the end of the movie, presumably also cutting out the Patch being Thunderbolt’s sidekick in the mid-credits scene.

    I can't help getting 'slight' feelings of ableism concerning the comments here about Patch's 'episode knowledge'. This was hugely relatable to me as an autistic child growing up, while, at the time, I didn't know any series well enough to say what exactly happened in each episode, I had similar knowledge in my brain that I would have loved to recite/talk about if people had been interested. To say that this is inherently annoying actually seems pretty mean to people who are like how I was as a child, dismissing their love of specific knowledge. I know it's an unusual trait to have, but would it really be OK to discourage this kind of enthusiasm if it's someone's primary way of expressing themselves and communicating with others?

    • @Jambareeqi
      @Jambareeqi  3 года назад +3

      @@Jambareeqi Ah, interesting, I didn't know that. I guess we both had different interpretations of the character, while for me, Patch was relatable, I can understand this wouldn't be the case for everyone on the autism spectrum. I can also relate to the fact that certain character traits/quirks can be annoying for autistic people! :-)
