I watched this in theaters and I can't tell you I haven't seen anything like it. From the script, to the cinematography, to the performances, it's absolutely brilliant and will stand the test of time. I am rooting for Demi to get the best actress award!

I saw it in theatres several times and each time got better and better! Truly one of the most original and exciting cinema experiences I’ve had since Parasite. I’m really rooting for Demi to get nominated (and hopefully win!)

The categories that are strongest to be nominated are the following:
    - Best Film
    - Best Director
    - Best Actress
    - Best Supporting Actress (The latter began to have strength)
    - Best Screenplay
    - Best Makeup and Hairstyling
He can also in these categories although he has not had much support in these and also because of the competition:
    - Best Editing
    - Best Original Score
    - Best Production Design
    - Best Cinematography
    - Best Visual Effects (The categories that are strongest to be nominated are the following:

Not since Get Out has a horror movie had an incredible noise, and it would be disrespectful for the Oscars to ignore it...

Couldnt agree more! I think it is even more monumental for the academy to nominate The Substance than Get Out. Get Out, although unique, is still not as crazy and wild as The Substance, but I love both!

I love Barbie but remember it overperformed in nominations and only won one Oscar for song, a category that The Substance doesn't qualify. I am certain The Substance will perform well with nominations, perhaps even get in Best Picture, but will it win any?? The Golden Globes nominations are telling because those guys who vote are all non-American and now the Academy has a very big chunk of members who are also not from the States. So, let's hope..

I think Demi Moore has a very good chance to win, and it can win Screenplay too. But yes, apart from those two categories, I don't see it winning anywhere else. But I do think it will get a lot of noms like you said, and given how wild and insane The Substance is, even noms feel like wins to me.

@@cinemadrunk13 Make up and hairstyling and Best Actor or Actress go hand in hand. If The Substance wins best Make up, Demi is winning too. Those two categories align more often than not. About Screenplay, I am not sure Anore and Emilia Perez are strong contenders

Yup nice callout on Makeup, although there are a number of movies that can win that.... Demi might face competition from Mickey Maddison as well. But again, even if it does not win any, I think noms are very significant, and I am very happy with that itself.

I think if Demi gets nominated she’ll be in the top 2 to win. Her narrative is very similar to Michelle Yeoh/Brendan Fraser from 2 years ago (and Brendan’s movie won Best Makeup and Hairstyling…)

That Michelle Yeoh comparison is so on point, exactly similar paths!
