- Tropical Storm Hillary is on a path toward Southern California but will the storm build into a hurricane when it arrives?
KTLA 5 News - Keeping Southern Californians informed since 1947.
ONE of the most BEAUTIFUL things I've ever seen is when
southern California desert areas go throw a heavy prolonged rain storm!
In a few days, Everything that lies beneath the desert floor starts SPROUTING
and BLOOMING and COVERING the landscape.
It is a sight to behold!
It truly is
I will never forget death Valley received lots of rain one year and then early spring it was a flower field!
Lol this is not a joke, you best prepare
Well now y’all can understand what we go through in the Gulf Coast no power for weeks
Cat 4 no joke, it’s a monster a beast. Be prepared, get a lot of water water water batteries fill tub up with water to flush toilets. You going to loose power, get lists of meds filled, take all meat an grill it after hurricane make sure hace grill an stuff just telling y’all it’s going be rough
I think it's possible we can be seeing this more often in the near future.
This year Californian has been having more water than the last entire decade.
It’s going to be my first experience !! SoCal hurricanes! WOW!!
Potentially the first since 1932
It's just going to be a storm when it gets here
Lol sorry but it will completely fizzle out by the time it reaches California. We're just going to get rain and MAYBE thunderstorms in a few places. They are completely exaggerating this.
🤞🏽
As of right now, 4:52PM pst, it's a category 3 hurricane at 120mph maximum sustained winds.
Yep, that's pretty strong
But it's still not close to California

@@diegoflores9237 Not yet..
@diegoflores9237 it will be by late Saturday/ early Sunday. Its projected path is to hit cali. It's likely to break down though by landfall to a tropical storm unless it picks up steam/heat. Right now, it's been upgraded to a category 4 as it hits Mexico winds sustaining at 145. It is expected to weaken along the path before getting to the so-cal area.
The cold winds were very very strong at Dana Point Harbor yesterday. It was wild.
I like this weather man. He seems to really love his work and how he explains why weather phenomenon happen instead of just predicting their paths and talking about possible destruction.
Thank you, Father we need the rain, I'm not complaining!
i saw the morning news, its a Cat 1 Hurricane now !!!! Im Ready for Hurricane Hilary !!!! Lock Her Up !!!!🤣😅😂😁😆😂😅🤣
Totally agree
To be honest with you after this raining season, we don’t really need it in California anymore. The drought is gone.
This is a very bad thing. We are not in a drought drought is officially over. This is gonna be really really bad. Get ready.
Amen but prepare Well now y’all can understand what we go through in the Gulf Coast no power for weeks

These MFs seriously thinking were just gonna get "some rain" god damn...
It ain't just gonna be "some rain." 3-5 inches per day potentially
Well he probably thinks it won't affect the downtown LA area but probably more in the Inland Empire...or who knows the downtown area might get hit strong too..
@@mateobarrett6829 they are predicting that we are going to see a years worth of rain in just one to two days. This is going to be catastrophic. It’s going to be really bad.
What we supposed to do! I've been in Southern California all my life and I ain't never seen nothin like this!! 😱😱🤣🤣. I live in the Coachella Valley
Wow cant wait...we dont get a lot of summer rain in Southern California let alone a hurricane/tropical storm so it will be very exciting...
There’s nothing exciting about this. They’re expecting a years worth of rain within a day or two. This is gonna be catastrophic. People are gonna die. This is going to be really really bad.
@@truckingwithtobeeyeah like this is going to be very bad
I live in Southern California and I’m worried this hurricane will destory my town
@@truckingwithtobeeAnd how much should we bet that it will completely fizzle out and we'll just get a little bit of light rain? The news media is completely exaggerating this. I would be much more concerned about winter storms - those are the ones that DO cause damage.
@@ct92404 my brother is a meteorologist for the Air Force.. they are predicting significant rain for all of southern Nevada pretty much all of Arizona, and half of California. Southern Nevada is expected to get 8+ inches of rain. This is no joke. This is going to be a storm that we’ve never seen before.
My sister lives in Southeren California. I hope she will be okay.
She'll be ok. It will just be a storm when it gets to California
I live in Southern California and we’ve received warnings of flooding due to heavy rain, but that’s pretty much it. No need to worry, we’ve experience similar situations before and come out alright. 😄 So I’m sure your sister will be fine as well. 😌
glad I live in the city. We always 63s with rain..
I have a question I'm in hemet ca we're riverside county is am I safe
That cyclone almost the size of Mexico!!😮
Not even close
In Henry We Trust. Henry is the best LA meteorologist.
You must be kidding ! Funny, yes. Weather Man...no.

Hopefully it'll be a SHARKNADO!

I ain't picking no dead sharks off the 210, you can come over here and do that.
@@areareare9953 No need. The 210 is now a Shark Highway.
If it hits la or sf it will be a turdnado
@@trlckykid That's a good one. I can't wait to see the film? The special effects will be awesome!
Hurricanes and California always thought about it since it's a coast state you could see it on the map the possibilities, hope it's not that bad 🇺🇸
Yeah, I researched this several years ago, and I realize that it could and has happened before. Most people in California wouldn’t believe this for a second, but I only met one person who was my middle school teacher who knew this and taught me this.
@@Vince_theStormChaserThe Pacific Ocean is too cold for hurricanes to make it up to California. It will completely fizzle out by the time it gets here and we'll maybe just get a few thunderstorms at most.
@@ct92404 That’s usually the case, but there are rare exceptions. Such as the Long Beach Tropical Storm in 1939 and the San Diego Hurricane in 1858, I’ll put a links for you to check out. Also with global warming and the recent rise in ocean temperatures near the coast, who knows if the Southern California coats will continue to have cold waters.

I'm from Louisiana I been threw 100 of these systems hurricane and tropical storm..it's gone be a weak system but one factor alot of yall are over looking they span tornadoes and a mean alot of them with that warm cold air and that system is rotating look out for that

Our weather patterns are completely different than what you have in the South and Midwest. Our rainy season is in the winter and very early spring, that is usually when we get strong storms. We have had tornadoes here - it's rare but it can happen. But again that is more around January - March. Storms in the summer in California tend to be weak and don't last very long. Tropical storms tend to just completely fizzle out by the time they reach California.
@@ct92404 but a cat 4 want sizzle out till it hits land. An with a hurricane it’s wind that last 15 hours not like a tornado comes an goes
When someone speaking Cajun starts warning you about hurricanes you best sit down and listen.
Could a hurricane and earthquake hit at same time? Being on the west side of a hurricane is the safe side so not bad for LA if it stays its path.
😮 there was an earthquake
Lol hurricanes in CA reported so diff than FL
And it’s currently a cat 2 with 105 mph winds
Damn
Have fun ms Clinton
Do you research the last time a hurricane went through was in the 1930s not the 1800s holy crap weatherman
🤞🤞hopefully it stays together 👍👍👌👌

It would be called Hillary, it is naturally attracted to blue states 😂
It could blow through as a CAT 5 hurricane and it’d still have a lower body count.

Wind is the main part. Whoever gets the eye the storm will come to an end then the backside is worse don’t be fooled
I’m voting for Biden
OK second time in history let’s blame it on global warming😅
The point is it will be more often. It used to be every few decades or a once a century thing. Don't be obtuse.
@@MiaonulWhat are you going to say when it completely fizzles out and all we get is a lit bit of drizzle and some lightning? That's it.
Please I hope so we need a disaster these California prices too greedy
Speak for yourself, poor person.
Having supply suddenly leave the market because of weather damage is the complete opposite of what you want if you think prices are high now. Think harder.
