God bless B.J Thomas rest in peace. Your story and your legacy will live forever.
Not the Beach Boys, but very deliberately produced to sound like them. And that was actually Duane Eddy on that twangy guitar.
Absolutely one of my all time favorite songs ALL Genre!
Backing vocals: The Blossoms (Darlene Love, Fanita James & Jean King) with Dave Somerville, Ron Hicklin, Tom Bahler & Gene Morford
Billy Joe Thomas - He has one of the most beautiful male voices in Top 40 Radio. Sweet and Soulful and what a range. I learned to sing listening to his records.
I Always Loved BJ Thomas, what a Beautiful Voice ❤
I believe that prominant guitar is Duane Eddy.
Harri, BJ covers the Beach Boys hit "Don't Worry Baby". He really shows off his vocals. The live version is much more impressive.
After Elvis died B.J. did the rest of his concert dates. And he made sure not to do any Elvis songs.
I love BJ!!! He was one of the acts at my first concert! Paul Revere and The Raiders were the headliners. It was in 1968. Saw him again In the late 70s. He was so good.
I haven’t heard this song in many years! I love it. Great choice Brandon! Wonderful reaction Harri. 🌺✌️
You pick a great one, Brandon. Harri, your reaction was terrific.
Sounds like the Beach Boys in the background, it's got to be them.
My biological father lived between BJ Thomas and Roy Head loved hearing all the music
Beautiful song with the incredible voice of BJ. Would love to hear your reaction to John Denver’s “The Wings That Fly Us Home.”
B J Thomas’s song Mighty Clouds Of Joy is the song he’s most popular for. A spiritual song and well worth a listen
That's it! That's it! That's my favorite B.J. song. But the studio version is much better than the live version.
Studio version best for me too
Brandon great choice! I love this song! B.J. was so talented. What a wonderful reaction Harri! I loved this one!
One of my favorite male vocalists. He could do it all -- pop, rock, gospel/Christian, folk, country. He probably could have succeeded at jazz if he wanted. We were blessed to have him on our radios and turntables and tape players and disc players, during the golden age of pop.
I've owned this single upon release since early 1972. It's his masterpiece which was composed by the Brill Building duo Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann. And I regard those background vocals as "diamonds in my ears" too.
The Beach Boys Singing Harmony Seen B.J Thomas in concert twice got his picture autographed ,Very Kind Man ! You'r Fan RIP
This is my favorite BJ Thomas song, second place belongs to Most of All, a beautiful but somewhat obscure song. What a voice, one of the top vocalists in modern popular music
He had a great voice. Check out his first hit of a Hank Williams classic " I'm so lonesome I could cry".
I loved finding out years ago this was a B.J. Thomas song. I'd heard part of it in a dream when I was a little girl and it bugged me for the longest trying to find the singer and song title. Didn't have Google back then, and people thought I was nuts trying to play name that tune with "sha na na na..." 😄 Years later I heard it on an oldies station, called in and got my answer! I'd already been a big fan of B.J. Thomas. Had a major crush on him, too. 😍
Great story !! Had the same thing happen to me aboout a song in a dream, but didn't have to wait years before I found out it was Simon and Garfunkel "Sounds of Silence".
He does a lovely cover of Hank Williams I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry
BJ had some great songs
His music video of “Most of All”, which is a duet with blues legend Keb Mo is worth a listen. It was released in 2013. Both the guys sounding fantastic in their senior years.
@maninthewilderness3208 I will check out this newer version out. Of all his great songs, for personal reasons which I won't belabor here, Most of All, along with Rock n Roll Lullaby, are my favorite BJT songs, by far.....
The Blossoms sang the backup,
Harry can you check out Drop your guns by April Wine.
Dwayne eddie loved his reverb.
I did ruin the surprise for you Harri. But it seems as though you had a surprised reaction nonetheless.
Thank you Brandon and Harri… ❤ one of his best songs ❤ 🇨🇦
I cried the first time I heard this song and I've cried every time I've heard it ever since, including now.
Hooked on a feeling is my fav!🎉
Just love it. Absolute favorite.
He had some great songs later in life like "Don't Leave Love Out There All Alone, What I See In Her Is You, and A Southern Girl On A Summer Night."
Truly rock can be so incredibly spiritual, soul stirring!!!
I used to sing this to my little guy when I was rocking him to sleep. He always wanted to hear "sixteen."
Thank you...I was wrong all these years!
BJ did a lot of cover songs but when he did they became the standard
Great song, you need to listen to some Charly McClain, sleeping with the radio on
He had the original of "Hooked on a Feeling" as well as a huge hit with a cover of the Beach Boys "Don't Worry Baby". Also Elvis covered his hit "This Time the Girl is Gonna Stay". Other hits "Raindrops Keep Fallin on My Head" and "Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song".
Harri has reacted to all of those except don't worry baby. Most at my request
This Time...is I Just Can't Help Believin'
I Just Can't Help Believin' is a great one.
Love you, Harri!
He transferred into that falsetto so smoothly
For me such a profound line of my youthful years, "nothing frees my soul like the sound of rock n roll." Other than JC, Amen, brother! Amen, brother!
Fabulous singer! Good songs.
Vastly underrated song from a vastly underrated artist
It was the Beach Boys on backing vocals!
It actually wasn't. Almost everybody thought it was when the song first came out. We didn't have easy access to researching things like that so most of us just went on being wrong.
The backup singers were Dave Somerville, Ron Hicklin,Tom Bahler, and Gene Morford
