Research shows people don't like feedback: They move into a fight-or-flight response; they want to get better. The difference between feedback and coaching, is which side you are on. Feedback given is like a grenade. Team members want you to look at the world from their point-of-view in order to help them get better. Coaching trumps feedback every time because it's what the person wants.
As a coach, I love this! We mediate thinking with great questions. Giving feedback or judging shuts down the other person’s thinking!
Thank you Marcus! "What can you adjust to get better? Coaching trumps feedback every time."
That's so true. Thanks Marcus.
Semantics. Feeback is bad and coaching is good. Then he concludes that feedback is bad. It is called a tautology.
Hey... Need help on this one!
