What an awesome video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and insight with us, and in such an eloquent manner, too. I enjoyed listening to you speak just as much as the content. The vulnerability and transparency it takes to show us the ropes like you did is why I genuinely love people like you. I wish you the best in all your future endeavors, and hopefully I'll be there to help you with them as a customer. I'm actually REALLY interested in that haunted house idea. I hope you revisit it! It actually made me go, "oooh" as you talked about it because it's so neat. Then you showed off that summoning one, and I was just, "omg, that's awesome 😂." I would love to hear more when the time comes. It was a small thing with a big impact, but I appreciate you offering to be hit up by marginalized or underrepresented folks/designers so you can check out their ideas/prototypes, etc. My gay-Mexican self may do just that way down the line when I have something more concrete. Ideas are fun, but bringing them closer to life is hard. Anyway, you're a lovely dude. Consider me a fan and cheerleader.
WTF!? Totally honest, real guide for new game developers? So much transparency.... It's like you're invested more in the community than yourself. Judson... you are the goodest people.
Judson, you have just earned a lifelong fan. Real hand-drawn art; hiring real musicians for your ad; thinking about the environment; money transparency; addressing marginalized communities; and just being a f¥€
Loved this, thank you Judson. Your community building for Deep Regrets was awesome, and this is yet another example of your authenticity. Also super excited for a crossover between my two favourite publishers!!
Loved the video, thanks for lending such valuable insight into the process. It's all SO interesting and inspires me to do more game design - even if it's just for fun atm. p.s. when you get it to work I 100% would buy that Fright House game! GREAT concept, theme and art.
Amazing video about the full process! Also awesome that you're so transparent about everything. We're currently preparing for our own campaign somewhere in march-may, taking inspiration from your campaign as well! Cheers!
Hey, superfan here! I just finished watching your video as soon as I saw it. Publishing my own game is a dream of mine , and I’m working on it now-let’s see how it goes! Thanks for the invaluable information!
wow! this was an amazing presentation and a huge eye opener insight in what goes into planning, making & production of a game. Thank you and looking forward to your future table top games.👍
I feel so lame for not knowing about Deep Regrets until now! Such an awesome presentation! Any chance of late pledges being open? Id love to support! Will it go to retail?
RE: Backer Kit funding: how does that generate income? I was confused on that point. This is a fantastic break down, btw and I love the design/characters in the game. Tells so much story for me without reading any of the cards.
Sorry, I should have mentioned that in the presentation. Backerkit not only ran the live ads for me, I also used them as a Pledge Manager after the campaign. So in the pledge manager I collected shipping fees, taxes and offered people the opportunity to pre-order the game who missed the Kickstarter, or add on additional items if they were part of the Kickstarter. So the majority of the funds raised in Backerkit pledge manager are just shipping and taxes.
Thanks for this presentation! Especially the transparency at the end with the financial breakdown. I just finished my Kickstarter in October and had a great campaign, but man is it uncomfortable to have that monetary figure out there, haha. Like yes I made $35k, but I really only MADE like $6k after all is said and done 😅🥲 Also big congrats on the buttonshy announcement! I saw in one of the facebook groups that you were messing with the idea of a smaller version, but that's super exciting to hear that it's going to be one of their pocket games! 🥳🥰

Hell yes, more gay-Mexican representation in board games, please!

Thanks, Andy. I really hope to make Fright House work at some point, but it's a struggle!
Great watch! Need more of this content in the industry.
Thanks, Taco! Hoping I can do more someday!
Great video! Thank you for sharing your journey and being so transparent. Really interesting
I've never understood why more people aren't transparent! It's capitalism trying to keep us all down!
Amazing video about the full process! Also awesome that you're so transparent about everything.

Thanks, Eric! Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I hope to show it to my game design students next semester. So many helpful tips and illustrations!
Awesome, hope it helps with the curriculum!
Love your games, Judson. Thanks for putting this video together!
Very cool to see the whole process

They closed in November, sorry! Don't worry, though, it'll hit retail and my site soon enough! Keep your eyes peeled in April-ish.
@ you’re the best! Can’t wait to play!
