I've sat in a lot of lodges and these were the first songs I learned, I still have a special place in my heart for them. When I hear them sung in a good way for good reasons it reminds me of the sacred matootsan and all the healing and blessings that I have been lucky enough to have been blessed with. I struggle with drug addiction. I am homeless and I was part of the 60's scoop but I am hopeful because of the sacred ceremonies our ancestors left us. I believe these songs are sung in a good way and that before anyone posts a negative comment about the way they're singing that they should look at the reasons why they feel the need to talk disparagingly about someone elses songs. Maybe you should go into the lodge and ask the grandfathers what they think about this. Chuh! Have a blessed day relatives and say a prayer for my sister if you want to , she's going to have a baby any day. Aho!
Prayers, brother. Hope your sister had a healthy baby. Hope you conquer this demon of addiction. It once afflicted me as well. Praise great spirit yeshua for strengthening me to overcome it. God bless you
I pray and hope that you are doing well , and that all good things are coming your way...Keep on being the strong person you really are, and keep doing the Ceremonies, and I am sure you will have a Good Life...I too, suffered from the same kind of problems of being "homeless" in my own Sacred Land, and addicted" to alcohol....and addicted to anger too, and had a lot of resentments, etc , Sweat Lodges got me better, cured me of all my problems...."Addiction" ...of ANY kind, is a very tricky thing to get rid of, since it something we become immersed in, like drowning in deep water, we get used to it, way too used to it, so that we "think" it is a "part" of us, when it is really not...it is OUTSIDE of us.....Cleaning up the "diet" is very important too, eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies whenever you can, you can grow your own bean and alfalfa sprouts too, in a glass jar, wherever you are, so it's not expensive and easy to do....and NO junk foods of ANY kind....and AVOID sugar too, as it feeds the addition process..just avoid all that shit like it is poison....(cause it IS)...Only take into your body that which is life sustaining.....nothing that is destructive in any way.....Grandfather has given us all we need to survive here , if we are mindful of it.... AND NO WHITE BREAD either...("fry bread" ....so popular at Pow Wows etc.....is the WORST SHIT ON THE PLANET)......as it creates a serious , life-threatening sugar imbalance in the blood, feeding the addictions even more..... .....It can take 30 years, to get rid of addictions, or it may take ONLY 1 hour, depending on your situation in Life.....Myself, I experienced a miraculous transformation in my entire Being in a Sweat Lodge...and after, the Sacred Pipe Ceremony.... (run by traditional Lakota Sun Dancers....real HOT) so ALL the anger and violence I felt towards my "family", that I carried deep inside of me for over 37 yrs.... from all the years of suffering i endured, which was literally killing me in every way, VANISHED ... just left me and I cried a river of tears of extreme gratefulness, from that......as I became truly humbled beyond all possible realms of my wildest imagination, ...so that I emerged from the Sweat Lodge, as a totally re-newed Human Being .......a "brand new baby"......re-born...and it changed my outlook on Life forever...Forgiveness is the BIG KEY .it is the "open door"...that leads directly to the Spirit World..........and may be a hard thing to do, especially to forgive yourself for ALL the things you want to blame yourself for, all the guilt etc......regrets, etc...DON'T LET "THE PAST" DRAG YOU DOWN NOW...as each new Sunrise brings with it a New Day, a New Life , another "chance" to get it right...and not make the same repeated mistakes over and over and over again....Now, as I just turned 59 , and with cancer, I am getting ready for my second half of my Life, my Journey in Life, (as I may just have another 50 yrs to go yet (?)) and my final Journey to the Spirit World, which now I can face with an open and loving and humble Heart, ....and I know I would not have been able to do this without the Sacred Ceremonies to rescue me.......btw ...I am a "white guy" too....so trying to understand and being a part of the Native Ceremonies was not easy for me to do...I started learning back in the 80's...I feel like the Native People have such a beautiful Way of Life, and so , that is the Way I chose to live, FOREVER.... and it will carry me right through to the very last breath I breathe on this beautiful Mother Earth......Sending LOVE AND RESPECT with all my Heart to you, my brother...Wishing you well...... .MITAKUYE O'YASIN...
Beautifully said. I too struggled with addiction, as my dad and grandmother did. Although they didn't make it out of the addiction- I have three and half years sobriety and it all started with the first sweat ceremony I went to at Round Lake Treatment Center. This is also where I learned about the Residential Schools and what my father went threw when he went to them. This is where I started to heal my shame for being a beautiful dark skinned woman. Sending prayers Caleb, as you walk the red road with the help of your ancestors. Please keep sharing your beautiful words- Thank you for showing us your spirit, in spite the power of the spirit of addiction. Aho, this is why we have survived for so many years- our spirits are strong.

So you all like opera singing or do you just enjoy engaging in cultural theft? And what in the world do you need heyoka songs for? What are you doing? These are not Lakota singers and you fail to disclose that fact.
How off is it? To me it is all in English and describes the last 13 years of men and demons torturing me so... trying to figure out if I am being played again.
Prayers, brothers! Please please please, somebody write here even a one text of a song, we want sing them all ...But we need some true words. And a translation, sure. I also listen to David Swallow Jr. & Nyla Helper - Inipi Olowan-Lakota Songs For The Common Man Purification Ceremony (2000) And all I`ve found is ... I had one sweatlodge experience, where I wanted to relax, started touching people, but then I thought of the silence that was being made, so I just sat and started singing. Went out eventually and just started walking around the place and just wanted to bathe in the ocean like a crazy person, and did so, felt like a jelly fish, dough, and actually thinking of crucifiction and thunder, moonic.

Very often lyrics are non existant, often it's only that melody that leads their singing. I am not familiar if this one in particular has lyrics or not. Best regards for Greece!
Please understand. This are not Lakota singers. Some words are not sung correctly. Some mispronunciations. Whoever posted this shouldn’t have posted this. I wouldn’t have this people sing in my ceremonies. Nothing personal! I have a lot of respect for this sacred songs and should be sung in a good way and correctly.
Spirits talk when you call them in you damn idiots so calling them in you shouldn't be playing with them or they gonna cause disruption in your life or family
Poor misguided souls. These guys are not Lakota, at least they do not sound like ANY Lakota singers I've ever heard. these guys are not it. I get it people want to connect. And its hard to blame you all, how would you know whats legit? Be careful. Its totally understandable you want to connect, your spirit cant help otherwise. Maybe pray to tunkasila ask for good teachers to come your way. Leave the Lakota songs to be recorded by Lakota. Aho
This is a sacred Song, it is a sunged prayer, given by the Spirits itself. Better you don´t sing this song without praying very humble. Thank you for understanding.
unless you are HEYOKA do NOT learn this song. and if you THINK you are heyoka, you are NOT. so do not learn it. it should not be sung here or out of context like this. it has VERY specific use and meaning and has no place in common man's inikagapi. so... like that. innit. hecetu yelo
These songs are sung completely wrong...there's not even a question of "oh well people do things differently in different places"...these are just totally off. Some dudes in 1992...
@@Xrayzz23 ok I need to ask u.......does this sound like "white guys" to you?....I am confused now, because some guys saying it sounds like the pronunciation is off or not correct....so if u r a Native speaker, u can tell instantly if it's done right ....What does it sound like to you?
Not sure where you guys learned these songs, but your singing on top of the drum leaves the songs feeling flat and lifeless. Doesn’t sound authentic if ya ask me. Just my opinion. Def not how my elders have taught me. Might wanna rethink how you’re representing yourselves
You are generalizating all tribes as one when they're not. Just because you're tribe is different doesnt mean that all tribes are the same as yours. All songs are different, are sung different as well. Just because you think its lifeless doesn't mean anything, maybe you're the one who lacks life.

No words for all that comes with walking that red way, keeping it simple and follow the ancient ways to walk deeply connected towards new times of healing and walking together as human family. This ancient ways help us all for that! Thank you for sharing and opening up. May our spirits dance free
So you all like opera singing or do you just enjoy engaging in cultural theft? And what in the world do you need heyoka songs for? What are you doing? These are not Lakota singers and you fail to disclose that fact.

Yup, I caught the difference. Being a FireKeeper I hear LAKOTA spoken and sang fluently. First time I heard this I could tell something was off.
Hey Donal, what is a fire keeper if I may ask ?
@@josenavarro3751 they tend the fire and provide the hot volcanic stones to be put into the sweat lodge
(but also no translations)
WAKAN TANKA UNSHIMALA YE (lo he ye he)
CHEWAKIYELO WANI WACHI YE (lo he ye he)
CHANUPA KIN LE YUHA HOYE WAYE (lo ye he)
When it's to easy it tends not to be appreciated and also abused, if you want to learn go in the lodge, or go and help at Sundance, vision quest,
I remember these from a long time ago…
I had one sweatlodge experience, where I wanted to relax, started touching people, but then I thought of the silence that was being made, so I just sat and started singing. Went out eventually and just started walking around the place and just wanted to bathe in the ocean like a crazy person, and did so, felt like a jelly fish, dough, and actually thinking of crucifiction and thunder, moonic.

Hola que tal, tendrás la letra de este canto?
Saludos podrían comentar la letra..

Yes I believe they're white guys.

@@Xrayzz23 Lakota!? no way! 😆
Thenks to all the Lakota brothers for all the suport thatyou guys gave me when I was n Anamosa A S P n Mont pleson specialy Judy Morrison I love you guys and your cultury...
Sounds like some white dudes.
how can u say that? R U some kind of racist nazi bitch?
U THINK THAT A BUNCH OF "WHITE DUDES" KNOW ALL THESE SONGS....AND DID THE RECORDING.....RU FUCKING CRAZY OR WHAT????????????
my message to...."THE EAGLE"....."drop the hate, before its too late".....because once u breathe your last breath of life......it will be too late for you to go back in time and get it together....so get your head right Bro...GO TO A SACRED CEREMONY.....and pray that you can have a peaceful mind.....before you die....its better to be "at peace".....with "all Creation"....than "at war"......get it????
I really listened to the Songs here again, and yes , it seems like there are some words being pronounced incorrectly...so I am confused about this......mabey you r right, mabey its not really Natives doing this .....it blows my mind to think about that.....but ....there it is...I am not a Lakota speaker, but i have been learning some, and it seems like there are some words not pronounced exactly right ...I am confused now..........I will take a listen to others again and compare....I just want to learn the right way to sing the Songs...I didnt have the time in my previous life to learn yet.......its a personal thing for me....to learn the right way...for myself...for my family...Sorry i came on so strong to u about the racist thing ....if u r not a racist, who hates white people... I apologize....I have had it with all racists...no mater what race there are........

Funny you see, like the native path has anything to do with the color or DNA of one's skin.. You think the great spirit gets hung up on skin color??what a joke that one is.. For spirit is penetrating into the heart of Being.. Yea sounds like a personal issue, you best take that up with the Great Spirit homes
Some these aren't meant to be shared on social media or recorded. So I agree with with you but hen Sioux are known for even recordings their sweat ceremonies
