Tableau's community is one of the many reasons I love it so much, and this is a great way Tableau is doubling down on enhancing their community. I love it.
Built a Sankey chart from LaDataViz in LITERALLY 2 days, and most of that was learning the interface. My goal is the integrate my LaDataViz Viz with tableau functionality, so its still "technically" a Tableau Viz. So in Reality, with the Sankey chart, it is actually a still Tableau, maintained and tailored in Tableau, only the chart had calculations done by LaDataViz. I'll never going back to doing calculations for Sankey and other advanced charts, with curves and such, again. Tristian, has unlocked my inner "Tableau Consciousness"
KPIs are definitely coming :) We already have a tool for that, BANg, that generates KPI in Tableau automatically, but we will convert it to Viz Extensions for sure.
The ability to add in new Viz types is amazing, I've purchased Tristan's extensions and loving them. But, the functionality is severely limited as Tableau still needs to do development for these viz types to be exported. So right now you can only use the new Viz extensions in live dashboards - any export to pdf, PPT, images (or using Tabcmd) are blank. Tristan says Tableau is only going to get around to this early 2025. So disappointing!
Tableau haven’t release the ability to sandbox extensions. This might be preferred by some IT teams. Also most organisations rather than enabling the public extensions are allowing them by engaging directly with the developers to build privately hosted versions of the extension.
The vizs seem amazing and something I'd want to include in my work as an analyst. However, my company has privacy concerns and we're not even allowed to use network enabled extensions. Does this work in the same way or does it have additional privacy features? Thanks in advance!
As I write this in July 24 , Tableau haven’t enabled sandboxed extensions for viz extensions developers. It’s possible but for some reason it’s not in this release. Also you can approach developers and ask them to host the extension in your own organisations network so no data leaves the org. Many s

Amazing work, thank you!
Fantastic Work Tristan, pushing now to get this release!
Excellent video!
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing work. Thanks a million.🙏
I particularly love the gauge chart.
How about a variety of KPI charts?
KPIs are definitely coming :)

Excellent
Wow this is really great, any chance you'll be building a jump plot?
Added to the list 😁

A good full screen screenshot can get around this but yes developers are pushing ahead of where tableau is with this feature.
If you buy the extension pack, you get access to the file of the extension ??? You can use the extension in Tableau public ??
Why organizations aren't allowing extensions feature in tableau
