  • With a patch for Street Fighter 6 around the corner (hopefully) with Capcom Cup coming up soon. I thought I would do a short video explaining what she needs/ what she is lacking compared to the rest of the cast. I hope they do more unique changes to Manon instead of just better drive rush/ crouch medium kick drive rush personally.

    Everyone just says "lol just add Laura", but I'm not asking for a single grappler in this game until we see what they do with Manon, Gief and Lily.
    I think Idom's right in that they don't know what to do with grapplers in regards to the game's system mechanics. I dont want characters to be added to this game just to be intentionally kneecapped.

      You probably meant Manon, Gief, and Lily.
      That aside yeah you are right.
      Imagine if they add Laura and she has the exact same problems as the others

      Gief is designed fine. Lily and Manon are almost there, it's not like they completely botched grapplers.

      Laura was broken. Slow fireball follow and lock down, DP that didn't get crush countered, command grab, tick throw, overhead, sways, safe elbows, cancelable cr mk, single button anti air that beat cross ups, and one of the most overpowered VT in the game.

    Her main issue, by far, is the fact that risk/reward on command grab is bad : if you land the grab, you lose oki and do ok damage, but if the opponent neutral jumps you eat a full jumpin combo for WAY more damage on average (especially if they have level 3 stocked).

    The one change I would like is for the twirl part of the hit grab strike invulnerable along with projectile. Between 3 - 5 frames start up and you can still grab the grappler out of it. At least on OD

    As a Judo character, I would to see more grappling abilities, probably a Judo reversal, and a better medal conversion from air and probably better jump buttons. The rest can be left the same. I also think there are a myriad of good tweak combinations they can do and will improve her game, so there is no one true way to fix her and she can be fixed in many different ways.
    I think the issue with her normals being crappy is to avoid them being led to grabs, yet the problem is that it hampers the neutral game. I also think that increasing her damage will make us focus on combos instead of medals. That is why prefer better defensive tools for her as in the spirit of a Judo character.

      Have that weird 3HK move hit low, go under highs, and always side switch with a bit of a judo throw animation.

      Agreed. Missed opportunity to not give a judo character a hit-counter throw to set up oki/wakeup mind games. High/low attack type respectively. Make the OD version be fully strike invincible. Like kolin counter in V.
      Make OD renverse have a longer projectile invincibility window and Cp. MP 6F to link on itself. Boom. She's decent lol

    Could her Level 2 Super be converted into a cinematic once the first hit lands, like how it did with A.K.I.'s Level 1 Super? Seems easier to do than modify all of Manon's hitboxes until they all connect in every situation.

    I like how Marisa can do a ARMORED move and STILL drive impact, I like how most characters can be airborne in their special and STILL DRIVE IMPACT, I like how some characters have traditional DPs that are easy to auto correct......................I like Manon's legs

    Feel like the super damage is fine but she needs the normals to either do more damage or give more plus frames to make the threat of guessing for command grab more dangerous

      She doesn't have any plus frames, so block one normal = turn over. And that's kinda the issue.

    I play Manon too I find her lacking any pressure what so ever. Doing her specials at any point in match besides in combos is hella high risk. She is not scary to fight, too easy to counter her entire moveset...

      ...have you noticed it's mostly Cammy Players and Juri players that seem to have a hatred for Manon... But the rest of the characters views her as nothing... And I find it extremely funny how intense they fight once your Manon reaches level 5 medal... LOL 😅😅😅

      I've been curious to play her but honestly, looking at her high/low kick special move, it feels like a dud compared to even things like deejays sobat. She doesn't feel like she has much to care about besides hitgrab and command grab

      @@whitewolf0487 for me it's her aesthetic, IMO she's extremely pleasant on the eye and just have an air about her that is extremely refreshing and soooo unique for Street Fighter.

      Semi related but i wonder why capcoms so allerfic to good side switch c. Grabs, the whole point of grappling is controlling yo opponents postion,but no, gotta give em weak normals and one non super grab

      Yes why does she not have switch side command grabs... This is a missed opportunity from Capcom's side she has the perfect setups for that with her dance style but Capcom was like: "computer says no".

      @@louisfacade because the idea is that you link into 3HK for the side switch, but that move is terrible and not great to combo into. But yes, she should just have a side switch confirm option instead

    I have a lot of ideas for possible buffs - making cMK cancellable, giving her +OB normals, giving her Lvl 2 super a vortex effect or better hit box, making her DR faster, giving her a wakeup DP, buffing her specific drive reversal, etc.
    But I think my top priority would be to make Renversé actually useful against fireballs. There's just no reason to use it raw because the risk isn't worth it.
    I don't know if it was mentioned, but MC Mura had a video for potential Manon buffs which all seemed fair/practical that I agree with.
    Just hit Master with Manon lately, and it's been a slog/pretty brutal so far.

      Agreed on Renversé's anti-fireball properties and her level 2 super. I'd also like her level 1 super to have a few less startup frames.
      Overall I like her weird hybrid archetype where you need to play the neutral game. I love everything about her design, animations, etc. so I hope she gets some love going into season 2.

    I don’t play manon but I think characters without dp don’t have good enough offense for what they lack. Not saying they need a dp they just need better damage

    3:45 agreed. Each medal should give 100 damage to her supers. So her level one is 2k and level 5 would be 2500.

      I REALLY liked this idea. If they don't want to give her some safer target combos, fine, make her power ramp up in ways that make the short combos hit harder as she medals up.

    The only thing I would wish for her is for her m.p->m.k to change to m.p->h.k because the amount of times my D.R macro fucked me over, instead of going to standing m.p to d.r cancel it just goes to that target combo

    idoms spittin. manon just has so many little things that dont make sense and add up to a mediocore character.
    capcom seems to want manon to be the "neutral focused" grappler which is why she has big-ish buttons and no oki, but her neutral aint even good
    if they want her to just be VIABLE, id say buff the oki (let her get better oki when her medal level is higher or something), better reward for whiff punishment, OR better frames on her buttons. let her be good at something 😭

      Related but tekken has a footsies grappler, armor king, his big double haymaker is a huge whiff punish with a running mix up as oki
      And hes got a wind god fist, so if you whiff, he can just turn it into a big combo with oki
      I dont know what theyll do with manon cuz capcom hates grapplers but introduced 1.5 new ones, cuz shes a 'hold up i gotta wind up' char but doesnt even become ridiculous besides having a dummy strong grab at lvl 5, shes got more moves than gief but somehow still lacks a lot of utility...i dont know where im going with this so ill end it here

      armor kings grab game is technically weaker than kings overall but he has other stuff to make up for it that works really well (like wind god fist and that plus on block lariat)

      Also i didnt know if you knew bout AK so i used basic conceptual explanation for his neutral game, hes got great pokes and still has a top 3 throw game, even if his tombstone is subtlely worse than kings

    Hitgrab does like... So little damage, dude. At absolute max, Heavy/EX do 2100. Barely more than Super 1. Medium, the main one you'll land, does the same as Super 1, and is the same as a Non-Medal Command Grab. When you have no medals or only a few, the damage is just pathetic, like it's basically a Frame 22-29 Shoryuken in terms of damage. I know it's a hitgrab and gives her a medal, but Christ, it is *nothing* but a combo ender. I hardly ever use the kick in neutral, and the projectile invulnerability is so awkward that I hardly see it.
    Her Frame Data just sucks ass, too, nothing is plus, everything is slow, why are so many moves minus on *hit*? St.HP is 0, St.MK is -2, St.HK is -2, Cr.HP is -2, Cr.LK is -1, B.MK is -1 and its followup is -3... Why am I getting punished for *landing* an attack?

    Make it so I can L.p L.p L.hit grab. L and heavy hit grab don't combo into normally or am I doing it wrong. I can only combo in to back heavy punch medium hit grab

    I'd love frame 1 projectile immunity and an overall faster startup on 236P, more reliable SA2 hitboxes, I think that being able to combo off 3HK would be Neat, and lmao, why not throw in upper-body invincibility on 4HP for shiggles

      100% agree 236P needs to be able to reliably punish projectiles like it was designed to. Also faster start up on 214 K the sweep so that we can combo from from crush counter heavy kick and have oki.

      Nobody has frame 1 fireball invincibility. She's already invincible from frames 3 to 28 which is more than enough.

    The problem is in the design of the game, and kind of fighting games in general.
    Theres basically one way a character is good so you always funnel the best characters int having a safe, fast button that confirms into big damage.
    It might sound unnecessarily hard on the game but all capcom did with drive rush was put an execution gate between the big damage and the safe button, which basically doesn't matter at the tournament level.
    All that said, I agree with the comment that level 3 should give a medal. I don't think most things should scale off of medals, but maybe improve the characteristics of her level 1. Like, at level 3 it could pass through opponents and go full screen and at level 5 it could guard crush or wall bounce or something.

      I don’t mind the Aki matchup. Her projectile isn’t oppresssive. I always just walk up parry it. Honestly it feels even but due to all of Aki’ stools it’s probably in her favor but not by much.

    I wish she had an air-throw and her Rond-Point had at least a 6F or 7F Start-up since she has no great options on Wake-Up.

      @@patrickcalip948 I believe you are correct, but from my experience, all other characters' EX moves beat Manon’s EX moves. Also, at times, The animation of Rond-point seems like it would hit at, and it whiffs (i.e., Manon’s leg passes right through your opponent); I am assuming it is because of the frame rate.
      This would be fair since all of Manon’s moves are negative on block recovery. Either buff that or give a zero or +1 block recovery on a single move in a few categories (Normal, Unique, and Special).

    I stopped being lazy and got to master yesterday with manon and the amount of times im saucing them up just for them to do 1 combo and equal my 3 combos made me sick. Not to mention if you are playing againt marrisa then u can just lose 75%for breathing wrong

    I feel like the mechanics of sf6 don't work for Manon nearly as good as they do for every other character. Especially because of her lack of defensive options to deal with other characters abusing those mechanics. Manon plays more like a sfv character imo. Like her footsies and neutral are really good and I think she does well against the characters that dont just constantly neutral skip with things like drive rush. But actual footsies and neutral kinda isnt relevant for probably over half of the cast. I could honestly see her being one of the best characters in sfv though

    Ironicly Manon suppose to be power type character when she can't push damage output like Marisa did. I play Manon exclusively since day 1. She not just need buff but also need to fix her inconsistent things on her. Like lvl 2 can drop when hitting airbone within certain range and height. That can leave her open wide during recovery to be punished badly. 2nd her renverse, anti fireball moves, it needs to be more capable going through slower fireball. Certain combo like Crouch LK, LK, LP can't complete after DR cancel on certain range. That makes waste 3 bar drive gauge for nothing

    Would love to see her double kicks become chain-able so you can do them again on hit, once you reach higher medal levels(level 3 and above). Also if they gave her an air command grab like Abel, that would be nice!

      Oooh yes like she has the dance setups already Soooo DeeJay like chain moves can be done and yes she definitely need an air grab of sorts... The Jump grab Chun has would've been great for Manon.

      @@louisfacade exactly!! And like Dee Jay, let Manon be able to switch between high and low double kicks, mid combo...That Chun Li air grab is smooth criminal! I love it. Thinking about it, all of Chun's moves are ultra fluid in this game, they really did a great job on her.
      Since Manon is so tall, and already has an anti air that kinda slams the opponent down to the ground, why not let her be Able (👀) to grab people who jump in, while she's standing, and twirl them around before dunking them, and that also raises the medal level. I think Abel used to say "Excellent!" when he did that move. Let Manon say that too!

    Imo they need to fix her moves to make them work the way they were supposed to. Spin grab/kick, j mk, 3hk, lv1/lv2, 5hk, 2lp not consistently chaining. The damage, defense, offense, pressure are all garbage. I’m fine with her having certain weaknesses such as fireball and slow short drive rush but you have to give her something worthwhile. You do one combo or grab w manon and it’s neutral reset unless ur in corner. You get knocked down and have to hold it or try and os off wake up or lv1. They don’t know what they wanna do with her and so she’s good at nothing except whiff punishing which every character can pretty much do

    Moves wise I'm with you in that characters should feel /play unique.
    But mechanics wise they should all be the same. It doesn't make sense that the top 6 characters have fast and far reaching DR and the rest doesn't.

    It's so hard to win with this character, her, there's literally nothing to stop the opponent from jumping, even in her vortex moves, because her combo damage is just so bad, and she's so drive rush reliant, and the oki is just...... pretty bad to say the least 😐, and djs machine punches do more damage than her level 5 hit grab which is just crazy to me

      Right... Like these Rushdown Zoning characters have it way tooo good in this game. Ryu and Ken and Chun and Luke And Guile And DJ all having projectiles and once you think you've jumped over the last projectile they do an Uppercut type of move. It's ridiculous😢😢😢

      I just reached Masters with Manon and it's been pretty rough lol. I would love some offensive buffs, but I think I would prioritize defensive buffs if I had to choose.

    My main issue with Manon is just how hard it is to stop the really low level (scrubby) tactics. Often times I already know what my opponent is gonna do and I have a very hard time shutting it down and getting adequate reward and oki, either I get crap damage, crap oki, while also trying to avoid their stuff. She's honestly not terrible she has amazing normals and scary offense when she has medals, it's just between stopping random drive impacts, neutral jumps and crossups (another issue I have the antiairs don't work properly sometimes), drive rushes and also playing the neutral game, it just feels like too much and any one of these things leaves Manon guessing for her life because she has no defense.
    And also due to how sluggish the character is (because of her drive rush) and the poor screen positioning and control, corner carry is so meaningless with the character and you work so hard just to lose all that effort to something dumb and now you're guessing for your life lol. I'm hoping she definitely gets something, nerfing the top tiers will definitely elevate her somewhat. I feel like on paper this character is amazing, I mean you have these godlike nornals that are hitconfirmable and putting people into these stressful command grab mixups? But in real matches it all falls apart and you reality just end up getting put into guess situations you really shouldn't be in, and then guessing for your life.

    I think they need to adjust some of her hurtboxes like on crouching mp. You get hit by like standing HP from other people from like half screen away which is most apparent with Ryu and Ken.

      Ryu and Ken is Sooo annoying to fight as Manon and that freaking uppercut is utter shiiiiii man. Oh and the way you'll be blocking their drive rush combos only to be cornered and then them grabbing your ass it's Soooo disrespectful how Ryu and Ken plays , ironically when it comes to Luke, Manon has a much better chance he's top tier but she can still whip him good.

    I just want a better anti-fireball tool. I get that she's a grappler and shouldn't get to beat fireballs for free, but you basically have to HARD read a bad fireball at the most specific spacing ever to punish one. If you invuln the fireball but don't land the hitgrab you're insanely minus on block or wide open for a whiff punish.

    I wonder how would someone even play against Manon in round 3 if you buff her regular damage. It would become either "eat a damaging combo" or "eat a damaging command grab".

    How did you not talk about the spin bro? 😂 Manon needs a gun. She has no DR, nothing to fight zoners well, nothing to defend against rushdown monsters, basically she's a dead character in the meta. We play Manon for love, because she's not viable at all at high level.

    If they made 5HK just 2 frames more plus on hit, along with making 2MP 6f startup, we would at least be able to get 2MP > 4HP > Medal from a punish counter. Would be a cool change

    All I really want is for up kicks to be safe. Not plus, just safe. Also a better drive rush. If I miss read a single read, most of the time I get nuked. I just want a safe option in neutral.

    Make her normals that cant be cancelled way faster and safer lol. Almost every character has way better pokes including heavy normals that can be cancelled

    Here my thoughts:
    1) Hp-Hp needs to be super cancelable (the one that pulls them towards her), currently only the first Hp is super cancelable, that means lvl 3 will whiff unless you are very close which is contradicting to the nature of the move since it's supposed to be a poke to pull the opponent. (Same with Mp-Mk)
    2) Dégagé (the overhead): It pushes you back on hit essentially ending your pressure after just one hit, it combos to nothing unless its OD and even then it's only +4 if i'm not mistaken therefore only cL will land which only happens if you were close to begin.
    3) Renversé: The invincibility frames against Guille are just not enough her only anti zoning tool against one of the best zoners simply doesn't apply to him. Also it feinting only into a high kick or feint into neutral is just a mediocre option, why not give more options like feinting into Dégagé. This would make it an actual threat mindgame being able to chose between neutral into command grab, low and overhead. THIS! This would make the feint into something useful at least.

    11:50 - When close enough (ie. point blank), Manon can link MK from PC-HK and cancel into whatever for more appreciable damage. It's not JP damage or anything, but it's something!

    Manon's the first grappler I've played for a good length of time in any fighting game and I've recently got to Master with her after about five-ish sessions.
    From my experience, the good thing about playing manon Manon was it really helped me up my neutral game since not having low forward -> drive rush or fireball -> drive rush really forces you to focus on playing neutral (whiff punishing, spacing, interruping blockstrings, checking drive rushes and jumps, etc.) and to her credit her buttons do feel really good to use so I had a lot of fun trying to play neutral with Manon and getting in to land her command grab.
    The problem is that, without having something as strong as low forward -> drive rush or fireball -> drive rush or an invincible move that can pull you out of nasty pressure, not counting her supers, it's pretty hard to compete with characters that do. That and the fact that her buttons feel really good to use but don't really net you anything in the long run, like having to spend 3 bars to drive rush mid combo to get stocks out of most of your combo starters or the fact that most of them do no damage and give like really shitty oki (except for combos that end with qcb lk), kinda just makes her feel pretty weak IMO.
    I think having a more reliable anti-air (maybe an air grab or some buffs to qcf PP), a bit more damage or better oki situations out of more of her enders, or maybe even better frame advantage on hit or CH on some of her normals to open up more routes would go a long way. I think she's the best grappler in the game for sure, but grapplers have it hard in this game cus of how strong other characters are cus of the system mechanics and shit.

    If manon gets a reversal you literally cant take oki on her. If you try to bait her reversal by shimmy or walk back you jus get command grabbed instead, if you try to take your oki you just get DP’d. Fix the character but she doesn’t need a reversal that’s actually stupid as fuck

    Her MP>MK target combo isn't special cancelable and is negative on hit. NEGATIVE ON HIT. The number of times I've gotten that accidentally when the bad input reading of the game doesn't want Me to link MP into something like, say, the MP+MK easy drive rush command is incalculable. Her SA2 just doesn't work. It's supposed to be an anti-air and will just drop. Plus, she does not have any good anti-air options or range. Her QCF+P hold that's supposed to be her dodge though projectiles doesn't have enough invulnerability or range to be used on reaction. It seems they made her terrible to compensate for having the threat of the highest damage command throw, but you also have to work hard to even get to that point when someone like Zangief is already in the game and does what she's supposed to do but better. Her SA3 should increase in damage with medals. Make her up kicks have DP invincibility or not scale so much. Give her a cancelable crouch MK.

    I honestly want Manon's LVL 1 to be like Cammy's LVL 2 where there is two outcomes for the move... However with Manon's it could dependent if there is a projectile in the way and if there isn't... If there is a projectile I'd like for her to automatically do a dance move around the projectile and then continue to hit the character and then if it's a clean floor without a projectile in the way I'd like for it to be the normal LVL 1 but if your timing is correct and you do another button input just as she hits the opponent it also goes into a medal grab type of move... 😅😅 I know my wish for a buff of a LVL1 is insane but Manon needs more up her sleeve with all these scary Rushdown/Zoning characters. LOL and is it just me but I've experienced her LVL2 having some serious problems where the opponent will be in the air and then you do LVL 2 but somehow they can block the move midair and then their character spawns on to the floor whilst still blocking and then when Manon lands she's in shiiiii as the opponent waits for her landing. It's brutal for Manon in SF6. She needs a projectile of sorts maybe air farts or throwing her medals.

      With no plus-on-block normals and a meter-heavy gameplan Manon has to play more passive than most of the roster (at least until medal 4-5). Her anti-airs are great so baiting jump-ins from impatient opponents is a good tactic because she gets either a free medal or oki off every anti-air.

    Ya'll gotta remember Capcom can't balance game only around top players. Ye, it's important for game reputation that you don't have 7 Lukes in Capcom Cup top8, but you gotta remember that 99% of the people playing the game are not devoting their life to it. We're all represented by metals like iron, bronze, up to plat, even in masters there are casuals. And We feel like 3700% for a medal 5 command grab is enough, to say the least. The game can live without professional side, but it can't live without casuals.

    Manon's power level right now : grab 70% strike 30%
    Yall want a buff to her striking. That's ok but what you gain somewhere you shall lose else where to keep balance. So something like : grab 50% strike 50%
    If you want the buffs Idom is asking for, which are reasonable, Manon should lose something in the grab aspect, like damage for instance, which is absurd with the medzl system.

    I really want them to remove low forward DRC next season, it just makes the game so homogenous it's lowkey boring to watch. AKI is a good example of how to make a character interesting without them having cancellable medium kicks (not saying AKI is good by any means but she's hella more fun to watch compared to say Luke or Ken)

      yea low forward DR is extremely boring (And I say that as a 1600 mr cammy) I honestly found the skill gap of confirming into your specials in 5 a lot more fun than everyone buffering dr and forcing you into a 50/50 if you block it.

    Legend rank and still refusing to accept that your character is bound to the grappler archetype. Manon is not supposed to be able to do what Dee Jay does. She's not supposed to be able to do what the shotos do. You want faster normals, higher damage combos? If she had that then why the hell does she even need to be a grappler at that point. The grapplers are designed the way they are for a REASON.
