Am I the only one that saw the floating chess piece on the board? Maybe it's a trick of the camera but I swear a black piece is floating, slightly clipped into the head of a white piece there. Also, In ever single test I've ever done, I've always been a Slytherin. Cool to see what they've done with the place and look forward to exploring it. The other common-rooms are nice, but something about these old stone walls, and even the fact that it's underground give off a nice vibe. It almost gives a sense of permanance that the others don't give. Whilst Gryffindor and Ravenclaw are fancy and flashy, they seem more like form over function, and with them being built into towers, that gives me the impression they are additions, if that makes sense? whereas the Slytherin common-room has a strong feeling of "We are here to stay. Forever." Like you can have your flashy stuff, but Slytherin is baked into the foundations of Hogwarts. literally.
At 2:38, I feel that that main stair is actual the entrance into the common room. That's how we descend into the room in the original Sllytherin reveal months ago (something akin to 8:50 actually), plus later in the video we see side rooms with the vaulted tunnel (7:43) look and the other scene with the spiral stair (8:38), I feel those lead to the dorms, but I could be wrong. Like, sure the grand stair could lead to the dorms instead but then why make the entrance to the common room a little spiral stair tucked away down a hall? Doesn't seem like something Salazar would do.
I think the suits of armour are going to be like magical guardians. If you look closely at the end of the Gryffindor common room reveal one of the suits of armour moves slightly.
My favorite is my house’s common room, but I have to admit that the most epic entrance is the Slytherin’s. Oh, the Hufflepuff common room is absolutely astonishing too.
The wizard on the tapestry is Merlin. He was a parseltongue and was sorted into slytherin, he's their pride because he is the most famous wizard in history. But it's HP cannon that he was good and stuck up for muggles.

I dunno why, and have never really thought about it before, but I do love a good notice board in games. There's something extra immersive about going up to one of them and for some reason it always feels like an actual person left requests on a board.
Only reason I can think of why a Ravenclaw crest would be in Slytherin is a bit of a stretch; Rowena Ravenclaw's two sisters married into the Black and Lestrange families (which both have ravens in their family crest, at least in the Wizarding World. IRL, Lestrange has a lion on their crest.)
Is there a portrait of Salazar Slytherin in the common room? I've heard every common room apart from Gryffindor has a founder's portrait, but I didn't notice a Slytherin portrait in the tour..
I do hate the floor lamps with the frills on it. On some level they almost brings the thought of cave mushrooms that I like, but they are not exaggerated enough for it - and the frills/tussles really ruins it . Open flames, green or silver flames even for the color of the house, feels more fitting for a cave / dungeon setting.
I wonder if they went in to a lot of detail and put names on all or many of the portraits so we can learn who they are. Or possibly even having many of them speak and tell us who they are. It also would be cool but a lot to add to the game if they had side quests given to us by some of the talking portraits.
I wouldn't think so, there was a scene in the video for the Hufflepuff common room where they literally had the same painting twice in 1 shot. If they're not unique, I don't think they'll all have names.
Great breakdown as always, Retro! Something I spotted right away (you picked up on it at least in part at 7:12), the skull on the table appears to be that of a smilodon or "saber-toothed cat", a very real (as opposed to "fantastic") beast from the Americas which went extinct around 10,000 years ago. Looks like it's in good shape too. Keep 'em comin', bud! 👍🏼
Nice catch! Yeah, I started to try and figure out what all the bones were and realized the video would be much longer and I'd probably guess wrong anyway 🤣 I feel pretty confident about the zouwu head in the waterfall though!
Maybe some of the real life extinct animals are secretly still alive in the wizarding world? That would be a fun way to make it look like fantastic beasts once freely roamed the earth as well :)
My theory about the 'Ravenclaw' symbol is that if two of the founding members of Hogwarts should be similar, in terms of what they appreciate and in terms of their ideas, it would definitely have been Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. Slytherin was probably cool and calculating, and probably valued intelligence. Rowena Ravenclaw, like all true intellectuals, could probably be a cold and calculating, and highly discerning individual (if she had to be; not that she was). That isn't to say they're similar, but out of the four founding members, I think that Ravenclaw and Slytherin would have been the most appreciative of one another. Remember there was unity amongst the founding members before the decision was made to admit those from non-pure families and muggle-borns as students. I can completely see Ravenclaws and Slytherins being the most similar to one another, or working in easiest cohesion in pursuit of a goal than any of the other founding members of Hogwarts. Ambition and intellect often go hand-in-hand, and much is written in literature about the cold, calculating intellectual mind. I reiterate: I am not saying that Ravenclaws are ultimately like Slytherins, but that they are likely to be more closely related than either Gryffindors or Hufflepuffs. Perhaps Salazar had a love affair with Rowena. :p
I loved all the common rooms. They have catered to true fans of the series and NOBODY will be left out. I was a Gryffindor when I was a kid but I kept taking the test and kept getting Slytherin now I am older so damn. Lol. Love watching your breakdown retro! Fantastic as always buddy!
Don’t know if you saw it because you didn’t mention but look at the chessboard. There is a piece moving by itself which make me think that chess is not playable. There’s just gonna be an animation of a game playing by itself.
Bit late, just watching these now, the floor pattern before the doorsnake is also a snake, and when showing the "chessboard" one of the pawn moves out of it's own. So maybe not play able but moving decor like the cardgame playing around in gryfindor..
I like all the common rooms but my fav is the Slytherin common room. The serpent entrance is just insane and lovely. Specially since you can also see the lake from there. My second fav is the Gryffindore common room which is hidden behind the portrait of the fat lady and there is a tunnel that leads you to it. And the G common room is also BIG there are many things to explore. My third fav common room is the Ravenclaw common room. In order to get entrance you have to solve a riddle. The common room is really good all the blues inside and the books, windows. Everything is just amazing. The Huffelpuff common room is really good. The sunlight which fills the room the plants and the yellows inside are really amazing. Which one is your fav common room guys?
I'm hoping we can be like Fred and George and run a business startup using our knowledge of Hogwarts and the room of requirement. Imagine having a booth in the common room selling magic beast stuff and potions and plants that we made in the room of requirement. or selling food that we bought from the house's elf kitchens at a higher price
I'd figured that there would be 28 Serpents in reference to the Sacred 28 (The entirely Pure Blooded Families in the Wizarding World) due to Salazar's favoritism of Pure Bloods.
looks really good, the graphics for this game are amazing, and all the mystery of what we can and can't interact with it eat away at me lol, like the wizards chess board, and the tapping the glass, and the glowing blue dot, i just want to hop in and see what's going on!
There are supposed to be 23 serpents within the Slytherin common room hence since 23 was Salazar slytherins favorite number he hit 23 serpents in his common room 23 serpents around Hogwarts 23 Chambers in and surrounding Hogwarts left 23 artifacts to be found and had 23 out of 57 rules at Hogwarts
So I have a fan theory here for a second stick with me - remember when the One Director Moira was giving a description of the game in the interview that she gave and she was saying how your first couple days at Hogwarts are kinda like Harry’s how you’re a celebrity and everyone knows who you are and it’s because you survived a- then she stops right there. Before we can hear what we survive right? What did Harry survive before going to school the one year that was really serious and it caused a big stink with the ministry? He was attacked by the dementors in the fifth book and we’re starting as a fifth year! Thoughts? Maybe were thought to be a squib or something along those lines or were homeschooled And at some point during the summer holidays were attacked by dementors and our parents Or guardians are killed and this is our fist use of ancient magic. Fighting them off I mean
Can you even kill a dementor? Like I know the Petronas is used to fight them and it’s said in the book that that’s the only way but what would happen if you used a killing curse on one and how does a dark wizard defend against them?
@@aa-ron2917 I wonder about that as well, if somebody in azkaban got a wand or can use magic without one, they could simply kill off all the dementors and be done with it.
Dudeeeee i always say im going for ravenclaw but when i see slytherin entrance boom that blow my head and the common room are pretty AF y think im going slytherin now

Thank you, @AtomicDudMan!
@@RetroRaconteur also great stream earlier buddy, was awesome!
Something that I’d want for HL is where random students can come and interact with you from time to time
Don’t know if you saw it because you didn’t mention but look at the chessboard.
Hufflepuff born and bred but the Slytherin common room has the best introduction by FAR. So gooooooood
Hufflepuff for the win ✊
I’m in Gryffindor but my heart in Hufflepuff
My jaw dropped when I saw the Slytherin entrance. Just incredible!
@@RetroRaconteur Ik. Specially the Entrance. Thank you for your opinion
The best part of a New trailer is the breakdowns from the youtubers 😍
And there’s SO…MUCH…to break down!
I have an interesting question. If someone said the password to the common room in Parseltongue, would the entrance appear?
I'm hoping we can be like Fred and George and run a business startup using our knowledge of Hogwarts and the room of requirement. Imagine having a booth in the common room selling magic beast stuff and potions and plants that we made in the room of requirement. or selling food that we bought from the house's elf kitchens at a higher price
I'd figured that there would be 28 Serpents in reference to the Sacred 28 (The entirely Pure Blooded Families in the Wizarding World) due to Salazar's favoritism of Pure Bloods.
I’m a gryffindor primarily however I am also a ravenclaw sometimes. So I decided to do ravenclaw because I feel it doesn’t get enough representation.
looks really good, the graphics for this game are amazing, and all the mystery of what we can and can't interact with it eat away at me lol, like the wizards chess board, and the tapping the glass, and the glowing blue dot, i just want to hop in and see what's going on!
Proud Slytherin here!!! 🐍
8:11 That is mind blowing cause I’m also a RavenClaw as a True Slytherin 😳😄🐍🦅
So when I was sorted a year ago. I got the Elder Wand, so does that mean I get the elder wand in the game? That would be crazy
Yeah, I'm definitely going to tap the glass now😁
Exactly! 🤣🤣🤣
I got 32 snakes in total.
As a Slytherin I just _loved_ the room, but honestly all the houses are beautifully done.
I wonder how the rooms will look at night, especially this one under moon light coming through the lake
Im a Ravenclaw, but i love the Hufflepuff Room :(
6:54 could be a Snake Skull!
You can see a full board in one of the other common rooms, can’t remember which
There is a notice board in the me gryffindor common room too
One of the portraits may be Elizabeth Burke, I do believe it is said that she is in the dungeons
Proud slytherclaw with these common rooms looking so sick!
Will you do a video for every single common room?
I'm sure he will
Yep 😀 Up next -->
Isn’t there also a snake in the floor design by the entrance
I love the snek door :)))
As a Slytherin, I'm very excited for the common room, but they all look very nice.
House: Slytherin
Patronus: Dragon
Wand: Black Walnut & Phoenix Core
6:52 an owl?? Before you said anything I thought it was just another skull! But I can also see how it could be an owl, but my bet is a skull!
Slytherin here, i love this and the hufflepuff common room plus my own, the hufflepuffs remind me of a hobbit hole
Do you think they’re gonna do like Pokémon legends Arches, where you lose an item and another player can find it online and deliver it to you?
Will tou be doing the other house common rooms
You know it!
One of the animal skulls is a smilodon or saber tooth tiger skull.
Fans: how many snakes will be in the slytherin common room:
Devs: YES
😂😂😂
There are supposed to be 23 serpents within the Slytherin common room hence since 23 was Salazar slytherins favorite number he hit 23 serpents in his common room 23 serpents around Hogwarts 23 Chambers in and surrounding Hogwarts left 23 artifacts to be found and had 23 out of 57 rules at Hogwarts
Your wizarding world account also brings your patronous into the game as well.
Will you also break down the hufflepuff and ravenclaw common room?
Definitely! Planning to do all of the others 😀
This looks *so* nice! 💚🐍
you're count is off theres snakes in the stained glass dome in the top of the common room.
Haha. I knew I'd miss a few!
Dudeeeee i always say im going for ravenclaw but when i see slytherin entrance boom that blow my head and the common room are pretty AF y think im going slytherin now
The entrance on Slytherin is 🔥🔥🔥 They did such a good job with that.
@@RetroRaconteur that surprise me a lot, thats magic to my eyes 😂
