Tanacon was gonna be a disaster from the start, I didn't have high hopes for someone to plan it very well at all, and low and behold, I was right and I watched Plainrock124 clown on it the entire time
plainrock was the one who benefited the most, blew up his channel
Literally the easiest event to plan around your venue. Figure out how many ppl the ballroom can hold (3,198) and make it a week long event where you need to buy multiple days, 2800 ppl per day. Raise ticket prices to hire event staff/security and also to finance food. Make it 3-4 hrs. Done

There's no chance Tana did any of the planning herself, she had a team. The team was probably smaller than Twitch's, and obviously much more incompetent, but it's definitely not Twitch's organization vs solely Tana
It was disastrous from start to end, but gotta say at least she has the decency to deal with the aftermath and process all the refunds.
You must be an autismo to phrase any sentence in a way that frames her as a nice person😂 refunds are a legal obligation at that point. She’d be sued if she didn’t.
gotta commend her for doing all the right things after though, taking all accountability and refunding everyone’s dollar. She just seemed like someone who was very optimistic and didn’t understand the logistics of large events
Lmfao it wasn’t a dollar, they said in the video it was $65. Only a limited number of $1 tickets were sold, once that sold out the only option was the $65 one, which is why people wanted refunds.

Honestly 40 days seems like a good enough time to me. The hardest part is getting the venue. Get at least 6k venue for 5k people. Separate entrance and exit and most problems would be avoided

Too many people show up to an event and can't get into the venue.
There are likely hundreds of different problems that you would run into trying to set up a convention, that you won't know about til they happen. Let alone someone who has never done one before.

I work doing events, we do weddings and all sorts of stuff. What i have learnt is that theres an art to making things work, for example, my boss is a person that makes things work, so if Tana was to let him know that she had 10,000 people that were booked in and they needed food and water and places to sit etc etc he can make that happen the same week. The issue is that influencers by in large don't plan these things themselves, they have managers and the such to do that, who also don't plan big meet ups like twitch con. Because thats out of their league, the people that have done big meetups like twitch con have done it for years and have plenty of experience, its not just something you can put on with little to no thought in some cheap dump and make it free and expect it to go well. It takes foresight which is something Tana has notoriously little of. Its actually incredibly difficult keeping people entertained with things to do for hours at a time, its why Twitch Con is packed with things to do so while you're waiting for something you can wander and go and see some other stuff. Don't get me wrong its not rocket science, but the first mistake was having no idea about what the numbers would actually be because you didn't put a lock on the sales. You can't fix stupid. Especially when your audience is young people, who also don't do the whole planning thing, your doomed to fail from the start.

One thing not in the video is that while there were supposed to be free tickets, there actually were only VIP tickets that were 65$.
I feel like this video left out a few important points. But mostly the $65 VIP tickets, bc I could see xqc was confused about a $1 refund. There was the $1 ticket, $65 VIP ticket and the just show up and you'll get in for free promise. Not to mention all the people that were pissed they specifically flew from different countries for tanacon and wasted their money because it was cancelled
Yeah and the $65 VIP tickets were meant to include a goodie bag worth like 4 times more than the ticket or something but it was like stickers and a lanyard

Tana was just upset at VidCon cuz they weren’t giving her the treatment of royalty. She was probably treating staff like shit. Then she made her own but i still don’t understand why people would wait hours like that. They’re just as dramatic as Tana and it showed when they cried and whined about being sunburnt.

They COULD have made it work, but got greedy. See there were only so many "free" admission spots (like 200) and then they just kept letting people pay for VIP so MOST of the people who showed up paid for VIP and then didn't even get treated like VIP because everyone was VIP. Basically the VIP WAS the general admission. But yeah they could have made it a good event if they had limited the sales of the VIP tickets. They should have made general admission an actual price, and then made the VIP a little more expensive. The general admission could still be inexpensive, but still yknow, and then put the cap on the amount of tickets you can sell based on your venue and provide food and water. Tbh it was really that simple.
