    Nice video! opinion about leader length. How long do u use, and do you see any big reducement in catches with shorter leaders?
    I prefer using one rod lenght leader for dry flies for salmon, but for trout and charr i normaly use double rod lenght leaders

    • @FishingwithJaska
      @FishingwithJaska  3 года назад

      Here i actually still remember i had 9' leader on the rod, so rod lenght. i dont believe salmons care so much about the lenght of the leader, many times the bombarding the same spot with same fly 50 x makes the fish bite. i havent had any better luck with longer or actually shorter stump. But ofcourse i have noticed scared behaviour if you are in middle of nowhere and fish is really easily scared, then you need really long leader. when im spinfishing for arctic char i have really thin non colored fiberline and 2 meter - mono or fluoro taffs in it, there is huge difference if the biting is 50 / 50. Tight lines and happy you liked the video !

      Nah, its just what you prefer, i have gotten lazy myself so even on 2 hander im using class 7 / 8 # switch rod when possible =D nice and easy to throw all day and does not bust my shoulder like class 10/11 and 15 "

    Another good video and the best type of fishing. Fishing salmon with dry flies is truly the best thing, once you do it you're hooked for the rest of your life. Another great dry fly for shy fish is Pupu-Tupuna, sometimes it works even when all the other flies wont. What kind of rod/feel/line setup did you use in this video?

    • @FishingwithJaska
      @FishingwithJaska  5 лет назад

      Thanks for the comment! Tupuna is killer =D but ofcourse we dont want to reveal all our secret weapons! That rod is #7 Vision silver and Reel is Vision Deep, with modified SA Floating WF line. With a ton of backing. So basicly reel with a decent break and rod so you can keep pressure on is enough. Dry fly fishing for salmon is really hooking, when you see the fish is biting and coming to get your fly is the best part!

    • @garrydogireland5961
      @garrydogireland5961 5 лет назад +2

      Hello again Jaska, yes there is excellent brown trout and sea trout fishing in Ireland, the river Slaney in southeast Ireland is an excellent sea trout fishery along with the river Nore in kilkenny, also the river Suir, in the West of Ireland you have the Cong river in the West of Ireland and the River Drowes, all of these rivers have excellent salmon fishing if conditions are right, you can find some good trout and salmon fishing videos made in Ireland from Simon cassidy, Dietrich Bohonhurst Mr kingfisher 3 and so on, I myself put up some videos but I wouldn't be as experienced or as skillful as these other irish anglers👍

    what kind of action rod is best for this fast or medium ?

    • @FishingwithJaska
      @FishingwithJaska  4 года назад

      Hi! I prefer medium or medium fast action rods, when im doing a lot of casts. But this is just my personal preference. On the video im using fast action 9' rod and i felt i need to be too snappy and fast in my moves. Allmost not enjoyable. 9'6 feet or 9'9 feet medium or medium fast would be my go :)

      The model PATH | 896-4 - was looking decent in paper but i would love to try it out and hold it in my hand before i can recommend a rod with out trying =D its class 8 rod so should be good for Atlantic salmon, Have you been fishing for salmon with 1 hander before ?
