I wonder what Ren's younger self would think of Hi Ren or Sick Boi? Lost Boy is a beautiful song, but how lost (and found) did he get in 10 years to produce beauty that was so splintered with light and dark? His is a soul that's been fired and quenched repeatedly to forge a sword that cuts to the truth about our existence. I am in awe of his talent, and I am in awe of what he has selflessly accepted to endure.

It's so strange seeing the light before it passed through the dark, knowing how beautiful it becomes but also regretting that it had to go though the journey. It's like remembering your own younger self before the miscarriages and the breakups and the grief of losing people to aging. I am now better than I was, but I mourn who I used to be. Watching young Ren fills me with this not entirely regretful nostalgia and love.

Ren had a very noticeable talent back in the trick the Fox days. But god damn if his torment didn’t refine his artistry. As horrible as it is. The shit he went through made his music all the more raw, real and connecting

As I understand, about half the Freckled Angels album was Trick the Fox tracks - Ren given permission to release it as his. I think - but that’s remembering what I read on Ren’s Bandcamp release of it (or that might have been the other album he has on there which is all old demos and acoustic versions of things)
You write along the lines of Jason Mraz, he can tell a story too, but you kind of look like Brian Cox the physicist. He was a musician too as well. You could have been his kid or brother or something.
