In this video Teesdale artist Andy Beck takes a walk from Bowes village in County Durham to God's Bridge, a natural limestone span across the River Greta which features in the famous Pennine Way long distance trail. The circular route passes through delightful pastureland and across open moor and covers a distance of nearly 7.5 miles.

And there was no underpass. Id walk up the hill (dragging a sled in winter for the ride home) cross a stile and get picked up for school in the bedford van/bus

@@Gray-beard great info. I know the current residents of the cottage. The underpass was probably put in at about the same time as the Bowes by-pass which I think was about 1982. :)

Thank you Penny. Glad that you enjoyed it. I appreciate that some folk can't walk these routes for one reason or another, these videos will hopefully take them on the route without actully being there.

Fantastic video of an excellent walk. My wife and I watched it and it brought back memories of our Pennine Way journey.
We appreciated the attention you gave to the PW in this video and the surrounding areas. A big thumbs up from us 👍

A very enjoyable and interesting walk and one I have thought about a few times myself. The only thing that has always put me off it the walking through farms, which I try to avoid, due to my mistrust of dogs, off a lead and cows, especially with young! Funny enough we passed there today on the way home from the lakes and it took us almost an hour to drive through Barnard Castle to Bowes due to the diversion off the A66 nightmare! Cheers Alan

Hi Alan, Thanks for the comment. I have just had a thing and actually not all of those farms are working farms where you would be likely to encounter either dogs or cows. Yes, conjestion has been bad in Barnard castle over the past few weekends due to work being done on the A66.
