the thing is. goku didnt get his powers from the sun. as a saiyan he's basicaly not much different than a human. with his tail he can transform on a full moon into a giant monkey and his body is a bit tougher and stronger due to it needing to be able to withstand the higher gravity of planet vegeta which is 10 times that of earths. his body is also designed to get stronger and tougher at a higher rate than a human and if a saiyan survives a near death experience then they adapt and get much stronger. so what i'm trying to say is, at some point goku could still figure out how to exploit his abilities but not as easy as clark did because clark got his abilities over time without needing to do anything. clark had to learn how NOT to use his powers and goku had to make his stronger.
You guys are honestly writing better comic book superhero stories than the current writers at Marvel and DC. They've helped drive the comic book industry straight into the ground, and their continual "more virtuous than thou" attitude towards the fans is preventing any sort of revival.
