In this video Jay Taylor builds the latest UCI approved Aero road bike from Elves, the Falath Evo. Jay strips the SEKA Exceed in order to use the SRAM Force ASX 1X, and Elves have provided their new 50mm Carbon wheels for the build. The Orome Valars.

0:11 - that editing segment with the audio leading into the cutting of the fork is master class. Awesome job "d**khead"
Hey all, for those interested in the technical / mechanical details of the build, Jay Taylor will be dropping a note here shortly. I'll pin his comment when it comes through. Also, stay tuned for a video (hopefully next week) with Neill Stanbury re the interesting and noteworthy geometry on this frame. Cheers, Cam
Thanks for this Cam. My customized color Falath Evo will be delivered in March. I really love this frame! Great content. 😊
KOIN!
Elves just got a US website. After your videos I'm fairly sure this will be my next bike. With 3 kids in university I need to be smart with my $. Thanks so much 🙏
Can you cop me one to test yo???
Isn't university free? If money is tight just ride a 90s road bike
@@janeblogs324 uni is free in most places in Europe I think, not in the UK though and there's several other places where it's not free
Sorry, "be smart with my $" and cycling doesn't go together.
Just oder my frame on 🇺🇸
I don't know what it is Cam - but I could watch a stream of Jay Taylor just working on bikes. Entertaining as hell and I always learn something.
I have to be honest. The amount of fun you seem to have at this local shop is amazing. Great build.
Nice to see a bike build vid with the pedals fitted and test-ridden enthusiastically at the end with smiles all round.
That transition from the music to sawing the steerer tube… cinematic ✨
Definitely my next bike, running the rim brake Falath Pro at the moment. As an Elves Australia customer I can highly recommended Peter and the way he interacts with and supports his clients.
Great to hear that. Thanks for sharing on the thread Neil
why don´t stick with the rimbrakes?
A good new addition/option to available and credible brands...and I can personally vouch that jay knows his bikes and his builds.
Wow I’m just blow away…… didn’t think much of the frame but built up it looks cool 👌🏻😍 a brilliant bike build to watch!!! Fantastic sign of a quality mechanic to test his build like that…. Sprinting UPHILL on 🎥 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That’s a lovely looking bike Cam. And congrats to Jay. Could watch him building bikes all day.
A year ago I bought my Elves Falath from Peter.
Still a great bike suits me down to a T.
I had to watch this video twice.
I have been considering an Aero bike, this one has got my attention.
I wish this kind of bike store existed in Finland. That level of passion is missing here.
I'm a fan of ciclovation bartape... they got IMHO the best gravel bartape I used on my gravel bike and really light featherlite bartape I used on my roadbike.
Great soundtrack in the final.Exactly the terminator frame.Legend
Most likely my next bike, will wait for the post ride review as some more details on the Geometry will close the deal. The videos are much appreciated!
That style of front end works best with TT bikes where stack can be adjusted with bar/extension risers. On a road bike, the clean look starts to disappear with stem spacers. Giving a stem option that matches the frame would be good as integrated bar-stems always limit fit options e.g narrow bars often have limited stem lengths - I think their 36cm bars only come in a 90mm stem length.
Loving these bike-built videos! Great stuff, Cam 😃 Bike looks bloody nice.
nice edit...nice music...thanks for the effort gettign a good watch....looking forward to hearing more about the ride and characteristics..
Seeing the bike in action like that it actually looks a lot better than in the promo shots. Usually I’m not a fan of the big bulky Force and Red hydro levers. But even those seem to work well aesthetically on this bike. Nice!
that intro was very fucking nice, I saw it in the preview and its the only reason I clicked, ur editor is a good boy
Best bike build video I've seen on the internets 👍🏻
I cant wait to know how it rides. They are available for order now. But kind of wanna see atleast one ride review before I throw money at it (IF im gonna do it). Great content Cam, as always!
Nice bike 👌🏽
And what about the sprinter’s legs on Jay!
Power numbers would be off the charts 😂
I love the look of the bike. This frame with a Dura Ace Di2 would be sick.
17.46lbs is still .31 ounces north of my “race” prep’d 1988 Vitus 979! Granted my drilled out chain lasted 250miles but this Elves was weighed without bottle cages.
That bike looks really cool!!
Loving how good these Chinese D2C frames are getting, as the big name brands are taking the piss with their pricing strategies these days.
I agree, there are some great emerging brands out of China. Winspace, Elves, and SEKA are the brands that come to mind, from my experiences.
@@CamNicholls As they get more traction and more funding for R&D their product will only improve as well!
Tyre and tube fitted in less than 22 seconds.
I’d still be trying to figure out if the logo moved from the valve stem hole when I popped that part of the tyre over the rim!
Got me at the thumbnail mate. 1x aero bike FTW!!
I don't know what I think yet of the stem design, it looks ok once put together. For riding here in the USA, I would strip the paint and logos. Do raw carbon with cerakote. Top notch mechanic Mr. Jay Taylor. Looking forward to the build details.
You can buy the frames raw, I am pretty sure. Or they do custom paint jobs.
@@CamNicholls Thanks for that note.
@0:07 some fantastic towel action
wow i work at a bike shop in california wow that will be a nice project bike for me mhmmm yeah look into this.
Awesome looking bike ,looking forward to seeing how it rides
Really great video, with excellent editing as well. Just wanted to hear your views on how it rides Cam!
No hammer required, must be quality! 😂
Looks good. Not sure about that recessed stem line.
Great quality on that video Cam!
Its a nice looking bike!
been waiting for this clip, sold on this just wanting some better colourways!
bike looks sick!!❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Wow. The weight
She’s a beefy alright! We’ll see how she goes up the local climb
Waiting so patiently for a review this weekend or next week 🤩🤩🤩
A few weeks off yet. Need some reasonable time with it to make a fair assessment.
@@CamNicholls that’s fair! 😁
Maybe I’m just too excited about building my first carbon bike (currently racing an allez sprint) lol
Keep us updated!
@@nicperez2665 Nice, love the Allez Sprint.
Look s good
Very entertaining. Nice video Cam
Sexiest bike of 2023 so far🤙
She's a beauty.
Fantastic video.
Thank for the video
review the wheelset please as i'm thinking of purchasing the rim brake version 🙏 thanks
I'll incorporate that into the full bike review. A section on the wheels!
That's some really cool stuff. I wish one of these lower cost, good quality carbon bike makers did a wicked fix gear frame. Be fun to have a carbon single speed made for the street not the track.
Would be interesting to see a comparaison with other bikes like you did with your winspace/merida/giant video.
Nice build!
Nice build Cam! I just built up a Falath Pro (2022), I'm dropping a video on my channel soon. Like other commenters, not sure about the recessed stem either. It might just take a little bit to grow on me though. The rest of the build is really clean.
Nice video 👌🏿, the Terminator song LOL hahahahaha, I'm thinking seriuosly to Buy that frame, looks amazing.
seems pretty nice.
Sweet Bike
Good looking frame.
Have you noticed that the crank doesn't spin freely. Tapered cranks can be annoying
Correct. Well spotted.
Amazing frame as it looks, fitting it to your position needs to be considered more than with any other bike it seems. I wonder about the tire clearance: it seems generous, but what sizes of tire would fit in real life? (many manufacturers are conservative with this number)
Reminds me of that old Look frame, what was it, 795 RS? Or like a combination of that and the Canyon Aeroad. Great to see more Chinese brands upping their game!
The newest look 795 blade rs has a partially recessed stem , it looks amazing!
Should get you a referral cut on this thing. I am leaning on this build vs. a new Madone or Aeroad. Looks SLICK
It's an Ali express frame with some black lettering. 👏
7.9kg without pedals but with power meter 👌
Now I’m tempted to change my falath pro disc to this one lol 😂
in an actual ridable build it would be around 8.4kg, the aero on the falath pro actually looks better
This frame remind me of LOOK 795, a rim brake version of it will be like perfect
There is a rim brake version. I know the factory manager in Shenzen.
@@benfinesilver2250 Can you give us more info ?
I've watched this channel so much that Cam's hearty guffaw is just the way I imagine that all Australians laugh.
haha, laugh comes from mu Mum actually. And she's a New Zealander!
What was average speed, power. How long did you mentain power? Did you try cheaper inner tubes? What was the difference in performance. How long did those very expensive inner tubes last? Was the price worth it?
Nice build
I'm waiting for riding impressions of this bike.
Since when is a rectangular tube shape considered to have less CdA than round, oval or teardrop shaped ?
It's a question I've posed for the review. Stay tuned.
Looks fast Cam any cost details yet please .
I'm putting second hand group-set on it, but the wheels and frame were discussed here ruclips.net/video/qgu_-73QVuA/видео.html
Hi Cam, Are you planning to do some comparison with the speed test, and ride feel....?
Yes I will be
wanted to give this frame a try since I can't get my hand on a soloist... but the standover of 770 on the smallest size is way too high for me
Awesome build Cam. But those brakes made as much noise as mine did after a swim in who knows what. Not sounding healthy.
That's disc breaks for you. Their sound effects are horrendous. haha
@CamNicholls They are now very quiet after a thorough rotor cleaning and replacing the contaminated brake pads.
That was the first DH brake after the build and just bedding in. Came good after that :)
@taylorcycles1931 Thanks. I was the victim of a bicycle theft and the thieves contaminated the front brake pads and that transferred to the spare wheel rotors. Bedding in new pads on the cleaned rotors.
What about the size? I think you should address this issue - the Falath EVO XL (54cm) is way bigger than the old Falath in the same size. The sizing chart of the Evo is completely different. Ordering the first Falath you said that for your height 54cm should be perfect and you were probably right, but the thing is that you have ordered 54cm again, when probably you should have ordered smaller one.
nice... a bit heavy though. its 8kg full build. for the price - the best product out there...
If I'm ever in need of CPR, I want Jay on hand to bring me back to life after watching him manhandle that bike pump 😅
Looks aggressive
love the wheels hate the SRAM. very nice looking bike. Elves have a UK site which is great.
Hello friend, can you send me the aliexpress link where you bought the bike frame. Thanks.
Cam you didn't go tubeless?
Any chance that you will build the Falath Pro and compare it against the Falath Evo?
How do you find this huge standover? It seems to be even 9 cm higher than in the same purpose and the same size frames of leading brands.
Any review on the bike soon ? 😁
Honestly I'll be buying nothing but Elves and Winspace frames going forward. They're getting just as good as the Europeans in terms of real world performance.
This bikes looks so much like Simplon Pride II, i'm wondering, is Elvis manufacturer for this brand?
I’ll have to take a look at that brand
You lost me at tan sidewalls 😂😉
7.9kg with super light tubes and no pedals, she's a wee bit chonky
We like chunky girls
7.92 kg equals to 17.46lbs in USA My 25 year old Trek 5200 15.16lbs. Kinda heavy for a race bike don't ya think
The geometry is a bit tricky. This is a XL Frame, would guess i need a XXL though. I am 188cm tall. What size would you recommend?
I'm 1m98 and if I order one I will buy the 61cm, Elves says if you're hesitating between two sizes then it depends on your torso/leg length. If you're more torso dominant then pick the size up, if you're more leg dominant pick the size down.
God that’s heavy.
Just ordered my frameset a couple days ago! Do you have a link or generic name for that foam tubing that’s around the housing? Thank you
Don't know what he is using, but I use Jagwire Internal housing damper
Ohh... i Was hyped for some true words about frame, the build and the overall thinking on the projekt. That Guy from Elves did he just show up or was he invited? 🤷♂️
When Will we have some words without some one looking over your shoulder?
Really close to order one, but really would like to hear your hornest words 😁
Haven’t ridden it yet so true words will come after that. 👍
For $2k you can get a frame from TIME. And Sram force? Def. go with Shimano Ultegra Di2 here.
Have you g OT a link to a time frame and fork for 2k?
hey Cam, what do you do about the small sizes?! Like I need 835mm bb to top of the saddle and the XL is only 54cm?! That seems very small...
Taking in to see Neill Stanbury next week. Stay tuned
Heavy bike
It is rather. We’ll see if the aerodynamics counteract the weight
Hi there Guys, Do any of you know if the Elves Co. is still in business?? I ordered a frame 6 weeks ago and I can't get a response from them. Thank You Barry Sim
They better drop a T47 in there before it goes to production. There's a reason the big manufacturers are abandoning the PF30. It sucks. I'd never buy one.
Other than that, spectacular frameset. 😍
$50 for a tube just confirms how out of control the industry prices have got.
which one better this one or seka exceed ?
for entry lvl
Haven't ridden this one yet. Starting next week I will be on it and will thus share in the review VS Seka VS Winspace T1500.
@@CamNicholls thanks for that ill wait it up for entry lvl
Any Promo code ?
What's the max tire clearance?
32mm
@@taylorcycles1931 Holy cow! Thank you so much for this! Will definitely get this! ❤️
