It's fun to see you use the new revised ed. of Swords & Wizardry on your channel. I find the author's voice and occasional commentary adds to my enjoyment when reading the S&W rules. I look forward to hearing more about this pair and their adventures!
I really like the new edition. Overall it’s pretty faithful to OD&D. I’m looking forward to their adventures as well. It will be interesting to play a more narrative style campaign as well.
It's interesting that this is the only character in the newest version that has "soft" stat minimums. I'm not sure I would ever recommend that any player choose this class unless their dexterity and wisdom are both 15+, since they'll end up with very weak characters indeed. A monk with no multiple attacks is barely a monk at all.
The Swords and Wizardry monk is Way better than the ADnD monk. I rolled one up for this 1st edition campaign I’m in and they are seriously lacking. It’s almost preferable to just play a 0 level human over a monk at 1st level. For some reason Gary G decided to gimp the monk in AD&D. I keep trying to convince the DM to let me recreate this character as a Cleric but I’m pretty much locked in for now.
Monks have never really been treated right. I think because everyone has their own ideas on what the mono should be maybe. The S&W monk is based on the mono from the Blackmoor supplement of OD&D with some changes to make it easier to allow players to be a monk and make them interesting.
@@heroeshomebrew I used the Blackmoor supplement to create a version for OSE, but with 2d4 starting HD. I have yet to run a game where someone may want to test it out. I have a love/hate relationship with the monk. I want to like them but I haven’t seen a version that I think really works and makes them excel at being a monk.

Oh, like the tri-shot!
Thanks. I think it works well.
On suggestion, are you able to angle the camera so you eyes are on/near the upper horizontal 1/3 line?
@@DMTalesTTRPG I could try. Might have to zoom in on my ugly mug a bit lol

Yeah the class starts kind of weak but gets stronger at higher levels. We’ll see how it plays out. They might die early.

@@maecenusx345 I also imagine my monks more as Jedi than like shaolin monks for example. I feel like psionic abilities should be built into the class.
