I have a golf umbrella in my car and a walking stick beside my front door. Both work well for self defense! Thanks for your demonstration!❤

I'm in a powerchair. I've been advocating cane techniques to my fellow power wheelchair friends. I already carry a pistol, knife, pepper spray, flashlight, and now 2 canes. They attach behind the back of my seat and look like handmade wood push handles. My last tool is the powerchair itself. These chairs with 2 group 24 batteries weigh 400lbs without the person in it. I've had an accident with my chair and ran the footplates through a wall without any damage to me or the chair.

@marcosdanielgarciaguillerm8373 All I can say is 1st, never underestimate what you can hide on and in a power wheelchair. I'm not the only one rolling with this mindset. 2nd you never feel more vulnerable than when you can't run away or fight from standing. 3rd I'm glad I already had the self defense mindset and ccw before my illness took away my mobility.

I use the wheelchair too. And I have my 2 walking sticks with me all the time.
I only use my wheelchair for long distances because of my breathing. I can still awake but I used to grade 5 titanium solid rod walking stick. At the hardened 304 stimuluseeing the steel lugnet that's Also solid. People with developmental disabilities that use Walking sticks should look at Matt pelkonelski's videos. He is right. We need to be prepared to protect ourselves

I was able to take my self defence cane on a flight to San Francisco back in August. I felt much more safe with it.

Hi Matt, just caught this video now. I want to share a situation that occured about three weeks ago. Even though i don't need my cane for mobility assistance now, i have develped the habit of keeping it with me, wherever i go. When i use it for leisure walking, i hold it with the crook, facing to the rear. On a sat evening, a good buddy and i, had gone to get a bite of dinner, at a favorite chinese location. As we prepared to enter, there were three 18 - 19 year old males standing at a distance from the entryway, so we began to walk around them. One of the subjects gave me a "shoulder bump" just hard enough to cause trouble. I side stepped a couple of feet to avoid any issues. He began cursing, even referring me to as an "old mff", and began approaching me in what i believed to be an aggressive manner. Not saying a word to him, holding the crook of the cane with my right hand, i brought the shaft up to my left hand "baton" stance. Just before he could make contact, i delivered a warning thrust into his solar plexus. Not enough power to cause injury, just "an attitude adjustment", as a former LEO like yourself. He leaned forward and immediately stopped his aggression, not saying a word probably due to "lack of oxygen", as you know. Taking a couple steps back, he and his buds left on foot, from the location. My buddy and i kept observing until we were sure there would be no further escalation. No police intervention or medical assistance was needed in this situation. Obtaining my Cane Masters cane can definitely be an "equalizer" for us "old mff's". LOL ! Stay safe. Doug.

Good to see you back. It would seem that a disadvantage to relying on an umbrella would be the weather factor. If it is a sunny day with no rain predicated an umbrella would look out of place. Still it has a place in self defense.

hey matt!! long time no hear! i decided to go with the cane n yawara (pocket sticks) i got from you .. I'm also facing hip surgery for my right hip. The pain is so bad. They say it's bone on bone. I've let it go too long. But I gotta wait 3 months before to do it. Cause now there looking at my rt knee and I'm waiting for a cat scan to get done n then Results on that... but I just wanted to remind you if sometime in the future. If you can make a video on how to use the pocket sticks for massages?? in case I get stopped and asked to demonstrate why I'm using n carrying these yawara pocket sticks?? I also decided to get me a non lethal byrna gun Which is legal in calif They don't do a background check and I don't need a permit to carry it. I already checked with an attorney here in my state... Since I can't carry a real firearm here in california they make it really hard to get a permit. So the Byrna goes with me everywhere too. With my cane and my yawara pocket sticks.. my real firearms stay at home n are ready to rise to the occasion which i hope never happens

Sifu Matt! I saw a law channel today said that Judge Benitez ruled the billy club law in CA to be unconstitutional. Billies and saps in CA? What?! Can it be true?
