I have a gasoline engine one in Cape York green on a ship somewhere in the Atlantic, heading for California. I should be getting it mid March, Piracy on the High Seas, waiting time at the Panama Canal, and delivery process permitting. The styling is nothing to write home about, but BMWs aren’t much about styling. They are very much like Toyota, the emphasis is on engineering and solid build quality, styling is secondary. You have to have a sheet metal envelope around the mechanicals and interior, so wrap something around it and put it in the wind tunnel. I have really loved my previous BMW’s and the X2 is basically the best solution on the market for my requirements. I just wish they had a plug in hybrid version like my other car, a 530e.

Question in my mind is why get an X2 instead of a X1 M35i which, unlike the X2, has more room and a spare tire and a rear window wiper/washer?

It's a diesel engine, it's supposed to be more economic, they're going to make a x2 M35i which has 312 HP from a 4 Cyl
And the basic gas engine in the x2 has 241hp.
