Fun Fact, Kim's VA is not the same as XIV's. He is now voiced by the same man who does Kenshiro from Hokuto no Ken.

I’ve always felt like Kim has lacked in character development in the king of fighter series so it is kinda nice in this saga they created new characters who are helping to develop his character more, honestly I think the next best step for Kim’s character would be introducing freeman in a few games from now.

Definitely hype for the comeback of pants man, he's one of my main in any KOF and since he is in for almost if not all games I got to play him a lot.
I misundertood Kim’s interaction with Luong when watching it on my own; assumed Kim was inviting her on a trip with himself and got very confused, thankfully he was just trying to avoid Gang Il not take his girl, also Kim is married so, yeah, that was a bad misunderstanding.

I wish they would have shown his Idle stance to see the pants movement. I dont think pants will be moving that much but at least it looks way better than kof14 pants. I wish they would use the closeups for level 2 like they did with kof14, the graphics looks good now, not sure why they decided not to do it this time.
I'm happy for you and the multiple fans of kim that want him back in KOFXV. I don't know about his pants animation but at least it's better than it was in XIV. Kim is looking extraordinary good especially his climax from kof2002um and real bout Fatal Fury. Still for me I still want SNK to bring Hotaru Futaba back for KOFXV.

So happy for you Shoryu, I was expecting that you would do a trailer analysis but I had no idea that you would drop the analysis so soon! As for the master whose training got Kim all worked up, I think it's Saisyu Kusanagi or maybe Mr. Karate. At first, I thought it was the master of masters, Tung Fu Rue. But if you look at the end of the trailer, Kim was looking to the person who's taller than him when he was introducting Luong to 'the person'. And Gang-Il & Tung Fu Rue are shorter than him! My reasons for Saisyu is because Kyo & Shingo are the ones to whom Kim is complaining, & Saisyu is the closest link to these two. As for Mr. Karate, well, because he alongwith Saisyu is taller than Kim. The only reason I think Gang-Il could be there is because his character model could be reused from XIV. Gang-Il wasn't a popular character to warrant a DLC purchase to begin with. Anyways, good analysis as always!
But KOF XIV ending was clear about who is Kim is training with. He was forced to go train in the mountains with Gang-Il and didn't have the courage to refuse.

I can't remember the last time I've been this hyped up from a trailer. His updated design and moves look so sick. His existence alone justifies this entire season of DLC. Kim needs no teammates.
His moves/combos look fantastic! Getting his triple kick combo back is a prayer answered for me. One of my top mains in all of kof. Very excited for this.
With Kim in, my main 4 characters are finally all in KoF XV, loving the comeback of rekkas and his phoenix super level 3 from Real Bout/'02. Strange they gave him intros with Shingo & Kyo over say some Fatal Fury reps or just to preach justice to villains. New design is good and top definitely is reminiscent of SFV Ken, still preferring his classic look though.
For that new move it reminds me of Kyo's red kick/Shingo kick (fitting he has intros with them too) so I expect it will be same purpose of getting in on projectiles.
Kim Kaphwan is one of the 1st Taekwondo Characters in Fighting Game History even though he is a complete Jobber in Canon.
There is nothing wrong to be a jobber.
He’s not. He’s a real rival to terry. The issue is Kim’s team is consistently filled with jobbers. Compare that to the fatal fury team who have some of the overall strongest characters in the series and Chang and Choi really highlight how much Kim’s being dragged down by them.
@@meganinten0078 yes there is. Being a jobber shows you can’t beat anyone. SNK had this guy being dragged down by dead weight called Chang & Choi where as he could of been around up Terry’s level but 3 steps back. Not saying he would beat him as obviously Terry prevails but still.
@@Neogears1312 Sorry Bro, Terry has made many Enemies in the Fatal Fury series, but his most Iconic Rival has always been Geese Howard since the 1st Installment, Kim was only just a Sparing Match for putting over Terry's warm up for a greater Motivation, not for a real Purpose behind him besides the lame Justice thing, Kim has always been a Jobber despite never Winning a Tournament (or what Team he's with),
Compare to another Taekwondo Character like Hworang from Tekken, he has a lot of Beef with a another Protagonist (Jin Kazama) while he does have his Fair share of Losses, but he was able to actually Beat him because he has a Purpose behind it, that is how a Cool Rivalry is, despite the Fact it has been Overshadowed throughout the Years.

I think Kim will be released in the first few days of April. They have a demo for him at evo Japan so I see him getting his date dropped then along with the mystery character they haven’t hinted at yet to drop with him like how rugal dropped with team south town.

Seeing his phoenix move make a glorious return has gotten me so pumped and now I wanna replay him in Real Bout Fatal Fury Special & KoF 02 in anticipation of his upcoming return.

It's nice that the climax represents 3 things for me:
XIII startup, Jhun's aerial combo (unlimited d+B), RBFF/2002UM phoenix
Also, the rekka basically confirms that
C version in normal is his Kuusa Jin, and EX is the C version in 2002UM
He never missed a KOF appearance.

Good now he knows how Chang and Choi feels about his "reforming program" also i love that Kim's climax super is basically an updated version of his iconic ones
But the difference is Kim is reforming a killer and a possible killer in Choi and Chang respectively. They live to do crime. Meanwhile Kim’s a national hero and his mentor is…well kind of a lazy bitch who sleeps around and is only annoyed because Kim’s the hyper diligent type.
I knew Kim's video would satisfy Shoryu. He looked good and it will be interesting to see if his move are stronger since they keep referencing his training. Knowing SNK's attention to detail, I wouldn't discount it.

He looks great! You're not the only one who made the comparison to Ken Masters. I thought the same when I saw that athletic shirt! As for the pants, I'll say it again: whatever Tecmo is putting in those Dead or Alive girls' shirts needs to go in Kim's pants! Everything below the knees needs to bounce! I'd also like to hear a gi "snap" on a whiffed kick, but that might be too much detail and possibly bad game design. A telling sound on whiff might work at a disadvantage....

Honestly, I never cared about his pants at all. However, I really loved his comet crasher move that keeps to be missing.

I always wondered why the other Fatal Fury characters that are not the main 6 (Terry, Andy, Joe, Mai, Mary, and Alice) or Team South Town are not as popular as Kim. Kim always felt boring as his story is repetitive and his attitude is honestly not funny. I personally can live with a KOF without Kim. But I can’t deny this might be his best iteration. The Climax especially feels epic. This might be a stepping stone to the upcoming new Fatal Fury game.

Little trivia.
Kim Sue-Il from Kizuna Encounter, the descendant of Kim Kaphwan (Fatal Fury/KOF), was the first character to make a phoenix at the end of the Houou Kyaku.
Kizuna Encounter came out before Real Bout Special.
Anyway, something that I liked apart from the return of Kim is how that same day SNK also announced that it would put music from the staff roll of many KOF spin offs in the DJ Station.
Among those games were the KOF Maximum Impact! 😃
I hope that next year we will see some MI characters in KOF XV, I would like to see Lien Neville and Alba Meira back.

I'm disappointed that Kaphwan hasn't gone to the darkside yet, and become a vigilante or something. People with righteous hearts are the most prone to corruption and do a sudden 180°. All it takes is one bad day after all..
About the second season of DLC being single characters, I have a theory.
What if SNK ordered the removal of a large number of developers who were working on KOF XV to advance the development of the Garou MOW sequel?
Maybe that's why KOF XV feels abandoned.
It wasn't a good idea to announce Garou MOW 2 so early, especially the same year that KOF XV had come out.
This reminds me of the case of Capcom publicly announcing Street Fighter 5 the same year Ultra Street Fighter 4 came out.
And that Ultra SF4 was not a simple update, it had big changes in the gameplay and new characters.
In the end Capcom rushed the development of SF5 and that's why the game was so incomplete when it came out.
It took SF5 four years of updates (mostly with the Arcade Edition version) to become the awesome game it is today.
KOF XV is now two years, I hope SNK reacts quickly
In my opinion, the only way KOF XV can be saved is for SNK to make an updated version, a 'KOF XV Maximum Edition' with all the DLC from the first and second seasons already available and obviously more content.
But that's just my opinion

The DLC that comes after Kim is the WORST DLC out of all.
I personally thought Kim was the worst DLC and the next (Sylvie Paula Paula) was the best. An experiment from NESTS definitely sounds more interesting than an average martial arts practitioner. I always wondered why the other Fatal Fury characters that are not the main 6 (Terry, Andy, Joe, Mai, Mary, and Alice) or Team South Town are not as popular as Kim. Thank you, I fucking hate the character of Sylvie Paula Paula with a passion. Such a terribly designed and forgettable character with no purpose other than being connected to NESTS. If they really wanted a NESTS character for the roster, they could have added characters like Zero or Zhe Prime who are known to be working in NESTS. Hell, this could have been a way to have both Nameless and K9999 be in a game together without their respective fans tearing each other`s throats. I would just have Sylvia replaced by someone else like Zhe Prime and it would make much more sense.
