Overhyped with 4 grand slams? The most of any active player not named Venus and Serena. Are you nuts? I get you guys take pleasure in seeing her struggle but please make some sort of sense.
That's true. I think she is a bit overweight. And Jil played very well the last two sets. Osaka needs to add three important features to her game: i)learn to use the slice; ii) learn to use drop shots; iii) go more to the net. Once she masters these three, she will be unstoppable and replace Serena Williams as the number one female tennis player in the world.
she's just not really into it. Gauff and her was pretty tired and sloppy and she looked like she was just punching the time clock here. weather was like 90 so maybe a little understandable Kvitova and Kerber looked like they were suffering a bit too. So we come to Jil who looked like she was willing herself on in the heat...and it worked.
Now these players are seeing what Serena has had to endure for years regarding being hunted and targeted…Serena literally held off entire countries like Russia…by herself
I think she was terrified to lose to Bencic for the 4th straight time in the next round, given the criticism she received in Tokyo and the fact that Bencic won the gold medal.
Sadly, you are absolutely right. Congratulations to the winner who played a nice attack game. I hope Naomi will recover a peaceful mind and the will to train to be fit again. It would be a pity to loose such a talented player.

Naomi’s personal problems are effecting her on the court. Olympics 3nd round exit, Cincinnati open 3nd round exit. Osaka needs to learn how to separate her personal life from tennis.
Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. She’s still a slam champ. It’s two tournaments she didn’t play great in. She’s got an entire future and career to get back on track
I also feel like Osaka needs to refocus on tennis and reduce some outside distractions. Sometimes she looks like she's got the weight of the world on her shoulders.
Naomi not going to win US Open this year. Just shows you, when you open your mental self up, opponents know that, and they will use that to their advantage. Another prime example of not having to say everything that’s on your mind. People aren’t afraid to play Naomi anymore, the intimidation factor is gone.
@@XDF745 she actually won the last USO playing nonsense mostly. I think I agree the aura of invincibility and being too good on hard court she was given might be fading given the events of the past months.
Same thing happened to Serena basically. Her mental toughness broke and she slipped, other players sense that everytime they played her knowing she was vulnerable and frustrated whenever she was on the losing side which is rarely...
Osaka is more concerned with activism and feelings, than with focusing on improving and playing consistently good tennis. When she focuses on playing tennis, she’s the best in the world. When she gets distracted with all these other things, she becomes an entitled multi-millionaire victim who produces mediocre tennis. Then the press asks the totally normal question of “why?”, and that sends her into an existential crisis and blames others for it.
Wow. When I saw Osaka’s draw I just knew she was going far in this tournament. I thought we would see an Osaka v Barty match towards the end of tournament. I have to give Jill her props. She outplayed Osaka, plain and simple. There were points Osaka thought were over but Jill got to it and won the point. Jill redirected the ball so well and Osaka couldn’t handle it. Job we’ll done Jill. I’m looking forward to Jill’s next match now.
Yeah She underestimated Jill in my opinion. After winning the first set she probably became overconfident and didn't expect Jill to recover so quickly. Well not only did Jill recover she decisively gave Naomi and ole fashion ass whooping that was somehow worse than the one she took at the Olympics only because Naomi just looked like a rookie after the first set. She just didn't seem all the way there and honestly a high school tennis player could've put a beating on Naomi with the errors she made in second and third set. She'll bounce back of course but she gotta find the fire she had last year. Maybe she'll find it at the US Open. I think these back to back third round loses are going set up the Naomi we once knew.
@@larontezmoore3313 Naomi only ever has that fire on hard courts, that’s why she has the ups and downs in her career. She excels at US Open and AO then crashes out in the grass and clay seasons then the roller coaster stars over. I’m so surprised she didn’t do better at the olympic and here. You may be right about her underestimating opponents. I think she thought she had the olympics and Cincinnati in the bag and got surprised by opponents that had that fire to prove themselves. She’s resting on her laurels and you can’t do that. She hasn’t had the consistency in her career to act like that now.
@@angelab9171 Also she needs to block all this outside noise. She's not only losing on the court but against the media as well and it's making her soft. She's needs to talk with Serena and Venus about how to handle the media.

She’s trying too hard to be likable. All she has to do is watch press conferences of Venus, Serena or Federer. Do what they do and just answer the question or say you don’t know and want to move on. If you don’t like a question just tell them that like an adult rather than having your PR person say it after the fact making a bigger deal out of it.

Osaka is paying the price for skipping too many tournaments. In addition her fitness level has dropped significantly . It might need a few more tournaments before she can get back to form
I predicted this! She has no deep desire to play tennis anymore, she said it in a previous interview. In this state of mind she will crash out of the US and Australian open. I am not going to follow Naomi anymore. I am great fan of her, but as she said, she is not really motivated anymore. Wish you all the best Naomi!
LOVE Naomi Osaka and pulling for her continued enjoyment of her sport, and her winning streak comeback! Wow, to the extent that Serena and Venus were revolutionary in their early days, Osaka is taking it to another level... she's talented but she's also a complex human being and refuses to abide by anyone's two-dimensional rule book on what a professional athlete should be! She's helping a lot of high-performing athletes (in high school, college, and beyond) around the world have conversations they used to be afraid to bring up for fear onlookers would label them weak, unfit, etc. She's a champion on and off the court! Clearly a product of her beautiful Haitian and Japanese upbringing!
She's just gotta develop tougher skin Shes allowing the media and haters to soften her up and it's showing. She needs to talk with Serena about handling the media and haters. Other than that I believe she'll bounce back.
For Osaka ,the basic point is how to use her power fully, not only by her forearms & wrists. Must use body swings & weights in synchronization to hitting & serving. When facing strong spinning & high loops, cute angle's fast ball, mere arm's strength & big racket's movement is inadequate . So she lost to Sakari , Muchova, Teichmann, Bencic. She can win over Serena , Kvitova, Sabalenka , because they hit flatter . less spin , though powerful but Osaka can bounce back easily just by arm's force.
Osaka's movement is slower than in the past. Defensively, she's not running down shots to extend the rally. Offensively, she's not getting into the best possible position to utilize her powerful groundstrokes. She appears to have gained a little too much weight, which is impacting her performance.
where is she in the Olympics.. she is extraordinary with Bencic as well.. curious to see her play against Barty!! in finals. :) Her anticipation is the best! simple tennis lover.. now none of my fav left in the tour so looking for this new star! :) Good Luck!!

Just don't worry and be happy, Naomi. You are a great player already. I wish she learns from Ashleigh Barty, how she keeps her mental strength throughout the game.
@Dwilshire7 I agreed. Osaka is struggling to deal with the pressure from sponsors and the media. She also looks overweight. I remember Naomi two years ago she was skinny and fast but now Naomi is slow because she’s heavy
@Dwilshire7 Maybe yes. But she is a professional player and it is natural that she gets monetary benefits from the sponsors if she could. I don't think Roger Federer's performance was affected by hundreds of million dollars he received from the sponsors. Osaka's problem is not from the over-burdend sponsorship but lacks of self confidence. Eugenie Bouchard is a more typical example of overrated sponsorship in this case. Naomi's overweight? I agree for now but I don't think that's because she is drunk with honey taste of money. She showed already extreme introvert character in the post match interview when she beat Serena in the US Open, which was long before she gets mountains of sponsors. As she said, she has been struggling with mental health, and she will be back on track.
@Dwilshire7 I never said it has nothing to do with weight. She is not overweight. Motion also depends on strength which is something you can't gauge. Serena could Move even with her weight. It depends on the individual.
1. Ms.Osaka still appears to lack the ability to come in on short balls and complete the point with a definitive volley. 2. " I'll just leave it alone " ; given over to her opponent along with a 'well-played' clap on the strings....what gives? 3. I have always maintained that it is heart wrenching to see a Ferrari having the brainbox of a tricycle. 4. Tennis of this decade takes no prisoners...Team Osaka needs to decide where it's at or she will be dealt with by an increasingly cadre of aggressive opponents

Wonderful!! Well done
Naomi just needs to start playing matches more to get back into a rhythm, she hasn't played much apart from Tokyo and this tournament
@@hugomena9744 Osaka will never replace Serena. You people are so obsessed with getting rid of that women when she never a damn thing to you.

I’m hoping Naomi learns from this loss, and will be stronger in the U.S. Open. Other than that Jil played an amazing match.
Such a grate game Jil😍
Naomi is clearly rusty. Lots of errors and not clutch at all. She needs to play more tournaments and works on her fitness
Honestly her fitness post Sascha is atrocious. She hasn't gone back to the body pre Sascha but still.

There's only one winner and all has to cope with losses. I used to like her but seriously most are stressed coping with defeats not just Naomi.
You make the big bucks as a pro, so need to handle defeat like a pro also. Noone likes losing but having good sportsmanship SHOULD be part of it!

People aren’t afraid to play Naomi anymore, the intimidation factor is gone.
you're literally talking out your arse
@Vairagya sir you’re wrong disrespectfully
She lost because she played like garbage not because of an absent intimidation factor.
I watched Teichman play Down Under when she and the Polish player Iga were stiking the ball with tons of wristy spin. Both r hungry!

Osaka made so many silly unforced errors.

Most of the players at the French Open said they didn’t feel the way she does about press conferences because they understand it’s just part of the job and they don’t think too much about it.

Most likely she just needs a couple more matches win or lose.
I say the same! Would be better if Naomi give up to play US Open and go for activism instead.
She is good. And Osaka is no longer the same as before. But hope she will bounce back in us open
She's just gotta develop tougher skin
Shes allowing the media and haters to soften her up and it's showing. She needs to talk with Serena about handling the media and haters.
Other than that I believe she'll bounce back.
Good battle.
We now who is going to cry?

So Osaka's weakness are high balls :)
It is hard to deny Naomi is one of the most talented tennis player. However, it seems that she is excessively scared of losing the match, and getting finger-pointed by others.
@Dwilshire7 Her weight has nothing to do with it. Not all players have to be skin and bones like Plish. It's more mentality. It's LOST now.
Ashleigh Barty is probably the best women's player now
@Dwilshire7 Maybe yes.
I user to like Osaka play, great shots... But now she is like Isner... Any ball 3 steps far its a lost ball
She looks heavy and clumsy. Just relies on power, no finesse

So glad Osaka lost! She has to be more humble and respect the other players.
LOVE to see Osaka lose
1. Ms.Osaka still appears to lack the ability to come in on short balls and complete the point with a definitive volley. 2. A new strategy I am noticing akin to Sloane Stephens i.e. if the ball comes within my striking range then I'll hit it but if not..
