Back in the days when Corrie was worth watching. Great writing and a wonderful cast of gritty characters . Today it's a pale depressing shadow of its former self...
Absolutely agree -it was believable then 👌👌🙏👊🏻
Poor Elsie. She shows the helpless terror and fury of living with an alcoholic so perfectly...
Because that's who she was married to and he was an alcoholic.
Very sad. It was true on screen and off.😢
Life is stranger than fiction.
I'm convinced Annie Walker read her lines off the ceiling, she always looked up whenever she spoke, lol.
Its reported thats exactly what she used to do
This has been stated in the past that Doris famous “stare into the mid air” was due to her reading her lines off monitors. It is known she did occasionally conceal scripts behind props and even wrote her lines on Betty Drivers arm in one scene. But I like to believe that her staring off into the distance technique was Doris’s excellent portrayal of Annie’s demeanour of grandeur.
Noblesse oblige..

She was almost 74 yrs old when this was filmed, so it's possible that she availed herself of the occasional "crib note," but she based the character of Annie Walker on her social-climbing Aunt Bessie, and the "upward stare" (with raised eyebrows) was a mannerism that goes back to her earliest days (i.e., 1960) on Corrie St.
I was barely 15 in 1973, and wasn't watching Corrie back then so I'm glad to have these episode here. I watch Corrie now and have been for about 20 years, I must say that Corrie was more easy going back then and less violent, I really enjoy these so different from what we see today on the show; thanks for posting.
Jerry Booth is a good character. Understated and funny.
Joking - he is a first class tosser 😂😂😂🤨
Drink - the root of all evil 😕😕
So many great story arcs. Thank you for posting!
Ty so much for uploading these episodes great fan from nz here 💓
I was born in this year. August 13,1973 at 10am.
24:28 An interesting reminder that 1973-74 was the last year before all the smaller local authorities disappeared and were absorbed into much larger ones. Here in the Oldham area, districts like Crompton, Royton, Failsworth, Chadderton, Lees and Saddleworth had their own councils, but after that they all became part of Oldham. The same fate would have befallen Weatherfield Council - if it had existed, it would presumably have merged with Salford. All of this was the doing of Ted Heath's 1970-74 Tory government.
Which led to areas being neglected.
Very dignified of Len to congratulate Alf after losing to him.
Len slip of the tongue at 21:00 when he says “what the f***’s all this?” 😄
Well spotted
Yeah I heard it as well
Who says it was not in the script? Fecking sounds hilarious though, obviously unscripted so funny...
🤣🤣

Anyone think Peter Adamspn (Len) looked a bit like Peter Martin-who played Len Reynolds on Emmerdale and a farmer on All Creatures Great and Small?
21:02 Len: WTF is all this? Can't believe this got by censors...LOL...
Happy days.
10 /10
Please add the following episode please, I hope you can find them that it - but I thought Elsie and Alan made a handsome, compelling couple.
Buggernation St brought me here to see the original.
I was just wondering where I can find the missing episodes?
Me too.
They actually have a “Mayoress”??!
Jerry, the nervous ferret 🤣🤣🤣🤣- what a dud 🤨🤨

Didn't Elsie leave in 1973?
Steven Cassidy yes but later that year. Last episode was 3rd October 1973.
She came back circa 1976. Then left for good 1984. Alan died in real life in 1979. 😪
