Amazing video, this is the first channel I’ve watched that really helped bridge the gap of the simplicities of radio to tactical style comms in a really easy to understand way!

Just bought the set you recommended from the jungle site and I hope the apps and script will work on my rpi 5 with all the other stuff I have running. I have a military airfield nearby so I hope this will be fun to watch :)

I'm in an apartment. How critical is antenna placement? In the GHz range, I'm guessing placing the antenna outdoors is essential.

You can still pick up stuff with the antenna indoors, but it will severely limit the range. If getting the antenna outside isn't an option, then I would go with a more indoor friendly option like this and taping it to a window to get the best results amzn.to/3P2wE2m
and getting this cable at whatever length you need amzn.to/3OXsZmD
Here is the stand alone SDR instead of the kit if you end up going with the different antenna and cable
      amzn.to/3OWVxMZ

@@The_Comms_Channel Thank you very much for this. I've just discovered your channel and I'm really enjoying it.
I'm just returning to the radio hobby after a long hiatus so the questions that follow may be a little bit "out there"...
I really liked your Encrypted Comms series. - particularly the fact that your solution is solar powered. What I'd love to do with your ADS-B solution is power system by solar. I'd use Wi-Fi on the Raspberry Pi for the link to my LAN. The AP is less than 10 feet from where I'd place solar panel(s).
Essentially what I'm trying to do is enjoy these projects (and likely others on your channel) without having to drill holes to the outside, or leave a window or screen door cracked open to feed cables outside.
My apartment looks due east and I get direct sun from dawn to past noon most of the year. I really want to capitalize on that intense energy.
      Any advice appreciated.

@@WebVid Sure thing! Welcome back to the radio hobby, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel.
The ADS-B Raspberry Pi image has an option for connecting to WiFi that makes it easy, so that won't be a problem there.
To do a solar setup with a Raspberry pi, you'd probably want to go with one of these Solar Power Managers amzn.to/3EmIPm2
I've been considering one of these myself but haven't gotten around to it yet.
For your situation, you'll probably want to get a panel with as many watts as possible that will still fit against your window. Especially since you won't get a full day of sun.
Here is what I think may be a decent solar panel option that has suction cups for mounting on a window amzn.to/45yBPOT

Whoch script do you use for the application?
