- Опубликовано: 10 ноя 2024
- For today's video we're reviewing the Ailunce HD2 from Retevis. This is a dual band radio, that actually has the ability to unlock the 220MHz on it making it capable of being a tri-bander. We'll go over the details of this radio and also check it out in a spectrum analyzer and see how it performs.

Nearly 7 hours of creek noises. Nice touch!
What better way to start the day!
What a madlad
Holy shit I was fully prepared to watch a SUPER (7 hour) in-depth review about this radio lmaoo. I hope this makes the algo gods happy.
😂😂😂 Full take down and review of every electronic component
@@The_Comms_Channelchecking the resistance of every resistor
Hopefully the updated version is released soon as these seem like a great alternative to the AnyTone 878UVII Non-Plus @ $220 with no Bluetooth, not waterproof, and no type-c battery included.
I hope so too. Will be a solid radio
I LOVE the AnyTone 878 series for personal use. I need DMR and analog AND UHF/VHF, so am stuck with it for now unless I want to go for the $4-5k multiband multi protocol radios (BK and Viking for now..? Hopefully the APX8000 will add DMR, but I doubt it)
The AnyTone is not as flaky as most Chinesium gear, but definitely not too rugged.
They DO now have a “dual charge” battery (desktop drop-in AND USB-C on the bottom).
I think I ordered my batteries from PowerWorx?
I just bought the HD2 and it FEELS solid, like what I’m used to.
(almost like a Hytera or Motorola)
But…. Functionality and ease of use =. GARBAGE. 😞
If the new (Ham Geek?) $200 buck eBay 8000 radio that looks almost like an actual APX8000 had DMR and was decent, I’d love to buy them.
There’s always a catch.
@@PowderMill I'm a big fan of the 878 but between the radio, and "upgraded" type-c battery. You're looking at $280 since PowerWerx upped the price to $250 for the Non-Plus now.
Btech 6x2 same hardware as 878 diff firmware comes with usb-c battery $209
@@BobBob-il2ku is it really the same hardware?
And..
How is the interface / functionality?
Do you know if it can be flashed with the AnyTone version of firmware?
(I have a few friends already running AnyTone portables in their businesses and the workers will likely be confused by multiple radio interfaces). Now, if only they could do MDC1200 signaling..
Thanks!
Want to get an HD2 for my first DMR handheld, can’t wait for the updated and clean version to be released!
I definitely like it and hope they come out with a clean version soon!
@@The_Comms_Channel Hopefully with AES too :)
Yeah, the whole security through obscurity thing kinda goes out the window when you're spewing your transmission over that many frequencies at once. XD
True lol
You reaffirmed your credibility with this review. THANKS!
Sure thing! Thank you!
Doesn't that FCC number on the back of the radio mean that they "fall within acceptable limits" for spurious transmissions.
With amateur radio it’s the operator that holds the license, not the equipment. So you’re the one who’s held responsible for the performance and conformity of your radio equipment, not the manufactures. It’s the other way around in every other case except for us. Thats why the manufacturing companies can get away with all these dirty radios because it’s technically not their responsibility. That particular FCC sticker is likely for something else like an “incidental radiator” or “intentional radiator” sticker or something along those lines.
Thanks for the great question @Dont_Poke_The_Bear and for the great response @Eric10179
Eric is correct, it is the operator who's responsible. He's also correct about the FCC ID sticker. If you look up the FCC-ID for this radio, it complies with Part 15, which has pretty lax regulations.

Since you mentioned S2 undergrounds videos. How would this compare to the TYT MD-UV390 PLUS that he used? Is is a cheaper but seems to have all the good features of the HD2.
I've not gotten a chance to use one so I can't speak on it, but I'll see if I can get my hands on one.
The major difference is TYT uses the kenwood 2 pin which looses its ip67 rating the second you take the cover plate off to use a speaker mic ect. The Ailunce hd2 does not
Allegedly the TYT sms/text is encrypted too
The sound of the water helps me to sleep..😂
😴
😮 oh wow that's a lot of spikes when transmitting
It is indeed. Seen worse, but it could be better.
@@The_Comms_Channel always had good luck with the tyt UV 390 it's hard to beat it for its price point for people looking to get into DMR
I have been watching the spurious emissions issue with this radio as well, and was hoping this had been fixed by now. Most of the evaluations on YT came out in the spring when this radio was first available, but I did see one done more recently (sorry, don’t remember the channel) and the example used in that video was much cleaner, so I was hoping it had been fixed. There does seem to be some variation in the radios.
It’s surprising, because by all reports the previous HD1 version of this radio didn’t suffer from this, so Retevis presumably knows how to avoid it.
I’m afraid it will be a hardware fix, so there’s a good chance it won’t be fixable retroactively by a firmware update. I’m not sure how they would handle that from a warranty perspective, older radios are probably out of luck …
This was a more recent spectrum analysis, there does seem to be some variation in these radios.

Thanks!
Thank you so much for the support!
LOL 7 hrs of creek radio....too funny. A shame about the spurs, that looks like a decent radio otherwise.
Hopefully it's fixed soon!
Please make a programming video for the hd2 🙏 analog repeaters & a encrypted simplex channel
The orange alarm button can be disabled in the CPS FYI
It seemed to disable automatically when I connected it to the CPS. I had to enable it back when I started shooting the video and it wasn't working 😂
You should do a review on the Wouxon Q10h
I'll see if they can send one to me for review 👍
@@The_Comms_Channelits at buy two way radios
Worst support ever i have binned mine the menu and channels when you use the roattion knob keeps skipping back forth back forth back forth when you rotate it clockwise. When you counter clockwise rotate it does not do that no way of working the menu using the dial knob absolutely useless. Support via facebook sells only crickets never have gotten a reply from em. My advise dont buy.
probably be one hell ova lot cleaner if you moved it AWAY from the analyzer LOLOL.......
I'll purchase 1,000' of LMR400 just for you and run the test again.
