      Phil M - ya but I’m sorry, it does not even come close to sounding how it did back then. Although he might think his tone back then wasn’t perfect, it was his and everyone knew it his and that’s what made him him....I hear more grey soup now than ever, just saying. With that said this is amazing and I need more I absolutely love this kinda stuff! Thx for posting🙏🙏🙏. Trey is Jedi!

      The “grey soup” you hear now could be the el34 Marshall amp that is almost the opposite tone of 1994. His 6l6 amp sounds just like his fender deluxe. Most guitar amp audiophiles don’t like treys og tone & Trey realized why after talking with ken Fischer. What trey is saying here is %100 accurate. Surprised it took so long for him to dial in his rig

    I do fairly well with a Dumble type pedal, being the Ethos TLE. It seems to do well, right? It is a little harsh. But, that's the cool thing about Mark III's They are like a bucking bronco of an amplifier. Should've done what me and Steve Kimock did a long time ago. Get a dual 6L6 Two Rock. Ken Fisher is a legend, but so is Bill Krinard.

    I do like Treys new tone a lot. I saw him tonight in Seattle and he had the Trainwreck ( Jan Marie I believe) right out on the stage next to him in plain view, not secreted behind everything like how I have seen it before. He is kind of painting with broad strokes here, a big reason for the change in amp tone that happened in the mid 1970's was the addition of another gain stage and a master-volume control that would make it so you could generate distortion in the preamp at lower volume settings, instead of in the power amp. Non-master volume amps just sound better, but you have to crank them to get that sound and it can get loud. Sure, if money is no object, go get a NOS set of Mullards if you can find them, but I'm telling you, you can get a pretty good tone without breaking the bank with the right circuit and quality modern components, and there are lots of boutique amp makers out there these days that do just that.

  • @Turboy65

    He's backwards on impedances and cable runs. To drive a long cable or a lot of pedals, you want a LOW impedance signal source and low impedance cables. Low impedance = high current drive capability. This is what you need to push a long cable and lots of effects.,

    • @jada90
      @jada90 4 года назад

      huh, this is from only 2 years ago so idk what he's talking about... I don't think any players except maybe really amateur players put reverb and delay at the start of the signal chain. Everyone knows those go in the effects loop or at the end of the chain. There are many reasons why most people's tone sucks, but that mistake isn't made by too many people.

    • @rjmoney9
      @rjmoney9 3 года назад

      @@jada90 Trey wasn't saying that, although I totally feel ya the grammar was confusing. If you go back to that part of the convo, they had been talking about the problem of grey soup, and Trey was saying was that most peoples tones suck because it's a "grey soup" (for, like you said, a variety of reasons), but he wasn't trying to say that their tones suck because of putting reverb/delay at the start. That was just one example of what causes grey soup among many.
