Would you, give a tutorial on how to upscale using ESRGAN. Please also guide about the setup as well. Hope to see in your next video.

that might be boring question, but could you tell me how you smoothly zoom in/out on your footage? 6:07 - 6:27

There are no boring questions! ;) It's just a pretty simple change in scale of the clip in Premiere Pro, basically keyframing the scale from 100 to 110 for example. Maybe I can show how in a future video. :)

@@chrisjohnsson i know how you do it, i wanted to know how you making it smooth, like motion blur at middle keyframe, that the *motion* only focus around object and not all over the screen,

Which model would you recommend to upscale 1080p to 4K while making it look sharper and cleaner (upscaling the detail that was there and showing it more clearly while upscaling) without it looking off?

Would probably use Proteus, Gaia or Theia. But I don’t really have a go-to model to be honest. Usually try most of them and play around with the settings every time until I find something that works with that specific clip/video I want to upscale or enhance. I feel like the models treat every clip differently depending on what’s in them.
Might even try running it through twice. Once for the upscale with Gaia for example. Then do an enhancement on the 4K with Proteus for example, to sharpen it and remove compression. It’s a bit of trial and error, hehe. Hope it works out for you!

What about our old DVDs that never got an HD release. I have a couple running on 480i that I would love to upscale to 4k and make them look as clean as possible. What PC programs do you recommend for that sort of thing.

    • @chrisjohnsson

That would be great, I got lots of old stuff on DVD as well. Good question, this software could probably do that if you can copy the DVD content to you computer first… Would probably take ages to upscale though unless you’re on a monster of a computer haha.

@@chrisjohnsson yeah, my computer is fast. Not a monster, but it can handle rendering at a decent speed. DVD ripper is a good program to rip your old DVDs. Can you do a video on an 1 episode of something old. So we can see how to do it.

Absolutely, I'll look into it! Would be fun to try out for sure.

I love this software, I'm pretty disappointed in its limiting of itself over hardware. I have a server style 11900k in the closet with 4 4090s and it doesn't make the software run any faster but what I do get is being able to run multiple at once and completing a whole project faster, so it at least works. I use Artemis on high quality to upscale my legal ripped for my own use 3D versions of movies because I'm a 3D nuts with a $20,000 custom projector system and the biggest problem was the low quality of 1080p, Funny I know because it's not that bad for normal viewing, but when you're looking for that 3D effects the pixels show up way, way easier. so having the left image in 4k and the normal movie of 4k and over laying them. you get such a clear image that I wish would just be on a normal 4k Blu-ray. I even zoom in while the movie is converting in topaz, and you can see the pixels are so much smaller. wish we had this and 4k back when 3D first came out, it would have died. well, that and Samsung absolutely killing it with the wide spread of that garbage active 3D that everyone hates. it's not all like that and when you have a 200" image in 4k, the room fills with pop effects and not having all those nasty pixels really makes it so much better. I just wish the new avatar movie can get everyone to see this.

That is awesome! And I’m a bit jealous of your 4090 setup. 👌😄

@@chrisjohnsson it mostly gets unused unfortunately. I thought topaz would scale much better then it does. Guess not but I do have the absolute best quality of 3D movies available 😉

@@N54God666 I bet! 👌 But yeah, it’s a shame the software doesn’t make good use of your hardware!

Ok, so more than a half of video time you say one thing over and over and over again, then: it´s not a tutorial. 15 to 20 sec needed for intro and get to the point!
    Thumb down!

Sorry to disappoint, but I do say in the beginning of this video that this isn’t a tutorial. I’m sure there are plenty of them on RUclips though, so hope you find one you like. :)
