As an experiment I reversed the policy and as a Manger, took all the blame, whilst delegating all the credit. Result everyone from Directors to Workers respected me. Here in Glasgow they have a "no redundancies" policy which meant that when in 2009 they 'reduced' 52 Band 8 managers to 38 Band 8 managers, those 'without' a job were given "project work" until the "dead man's shoes" methodology came into effect. That meant departmentally the savings were evident but overall there were none. When you also consider the "Dilbert principle" where ineffective managers are "promoted" to avoid further cock-ups you realise where some of there problems come from. I personally was discriminated against and dismissed for not being able to work due to a management "failure to provide reasonable adjustments". I was told "with an obvious disability" that I failed to remind my managers that I was disabled. What was I to do, dress as a Morris dancer so they could hear me coming? Very angry that this came after almost 20 years service. If you think I am lying, I have proof and no NDA!
What ever problems there are with agency staff, the main problem is how much they cost the NHS. That vast amount of money could train thousands of doctors, nurses and pay them properly.

Agency staff don’t tend to be inexperienced, it’s actually NHS staff who are sick of the low pay and awful hours they have to work, so they have all the skills but become agency staff to have more control of their pay and hours they work.
