The Tesla spreadsheet was much better - key drivers that map to the company's metrics. This one was a bit rougher and seemed far too optimistic. These are the sort of estimates you'd expect from the company itself.
I don't see how predictions like this work in ARKs favor. If Zoom has even half of that kind of upside, there's no way I'd want an ETF to get exposure to it. The price appreciation would end up getting trimmed all the way up and 10x would end up getting cut in half as she rebalances (don't hold me to the algebra). This is part of why I've cooled on her funds. I wish her well but even if/when she's right, the nature of these stocks can make her a victim of her own success.
That's a really good point. Why not cherry pick Ark's most credible ideas and leave the ones that seem far fetched off the table? There is a lot to learn from ARK and their universe provides an interesting list of disruptive names for investors to peruse. Use the old Chinese menu approach without having to tip.
@@Nanalyzedoes it matter what her price target for TDOC was? The fact it was her top position says enough. She does the same thing short sellers do: go on tv/media and spout bs to pump their holdings. It’s obvious.
LOL. Few care what Cathie Wood thinks or what ARK is doing anymore. I can’t imagine why she even gets airtime anymore. Who can take her or ARK seriously?
FOSS ("Free Open Source Software") doesn't always kill big SaaS, but it probably should in a number of cases. Free as in beer as well as free as in "don tase/hassle/upsell me brah" teleconferencing software should be a threat, if the suits can countenance their IT departments approving such. o/
Now do Roku. At the tail end of the 'Rona, I was building a house while living in a forest without an internet connection and I could tell that Zoom and Roku were not about to conquer their respective markets (my ex-wife is a Romanian fortune teller)
You're very astute. You managed to marry your source of alpha, but that's a double-edged sword because now she is generating alpha elsewhere. Romania is a great place to look for a future ex wife. We looked at Roku a while back and decided to avoid the company: www.nanalyze.com/2022/10/roku-stock-os-smart-tvs/
not fair - this is an old prediction. has she said anything lately? I am confounded by Cathi- she was an Art Laffer acolyte so she's knows her way around Keynesworld. But lost her street cred with her insane price target on TSLA to get on CNBC. PLUS, she has some weird Chinese friends and moved to Tampa Fla armpit of Fla.. That said, almost every conference call uses ZOOM. I like your numbers btw..
We don't pay much attention to where she lives or who she mingles with. :) This just goes to show that having a ton of resources and experience doesn't equate to alpha. Glad you're enjoying our content!
Her recent letter to investors really helped address some of the questions/concerns raised in our "Cathie Won" video which seemed rather timely. We could only hope that someday our content comes across Cathie's desk ;)
She was holding Zoom shares when this presentation was put together. Her trade alerts suggest she has been selling off Zoom, though it still commands a 1.8% share in her flagship ETF as of Friday. So can you please qualify your "completely dumped" statement?

Wow. One of the biggest ZM bulls selling out of ZM. Never thought we'd see the day. Guess that prediction went out the window.

@@SimonStormFrigon It's extremely tough to beat the market. Why is this a surprise to everyone?

Betting on Zoom is betting against Microsoft. Historically that hasn't turned out well...
Crowdstrike is too. Along with GitHub and many other SaaS plays.
sony vs xbox, iphone vs microsoft/nokia, oracle vs IIS, google vs bing the list goes on, plenty have beaten microsoft
@brianwest7344 but it is not 1:1 fight...here you fight against entire productivity suit, microsoft efficiency through its cloud

Great analysis and perspective.

One of the analyst (Rosenblatt) has a theory that Zoom is the customer facing tool of choice, with Teams doing internal stuff.
Interesting. TeamViewer also seems external though for customer support.
Thanks for producing these, I enjoyed the analysis! I did wonder why Ark bet on Zoom.
Glad you found this useful!
COVID clouded a lot of analysts' visions. Would be good for ARK to acknowledge where they've gone wrong in all their valuations
When they completely exit a position, that's a good time for a post mortem.

I believe Kathie Wood has sold out of ZM completely
Searching their flagship ETF right now shows a zero balance for ZM shares.

"These are people who shower before work." 🤣🤣
Deodorant sales must be down for Zoom users.
There are three types of people in this world - those who shower before work, those who shower after work, and those who don't have showers.
Classic bundling of apps and services from Microsoft and Apple will eventually kill Zoom although they might be bought like Skype.
Was thinking about that. A PE firm could acquire those 192,000 enterprise clients and then sell them adjacent offerings.
Think Mama Woods watched this video recently 😊

Every asset manager does. They put together a strategy and hope it generates alpha. 95% of the time it doesn't.
