You wanna cry looking at this. If you are Houstonian then you really feel the pain. The storm won't leave Houston until Thursday or Friday from what I've seen in the news.
It is horrible. My entire neighborhood (I am the first street - half okay, my half) is under water. This just happened last year. EVERYTHING they owned on the streets. War zone. This will be magnified 1,000,000 times. I'm sure I will have house guests.
+Guillermo Martinez Sorry.....I actually don't want to cry. My sympathy well has run dry for all of these disaster areas. Can't quite figure out why hurricane and flood zones....tornado alley....earthquake zones.....why are these the same places full of all the hate and unrest?
Houston is one of the biggest cities and a lot of it just got tooken out. It's sad how many people are gonna have to restart or try to get back on track with their lives after losing literally everything they own. Man if you live in Houston I hope you guys are all safe, it's bad out here.
It was just as bad in Pasadena which isn't far from Houston and I'm from there we lost everything all of our stuff that can't be replaced and special momentums you will never get back or be able to replace. We lost our apt, one cat, it's devastating. Of course alot of help from FEMA but no money in the world can get you what you lost back or your fear of it happening again and again. #HOUSTONSTRONG
Mook Wolf they don't really show much of the damage on the news (here at least) and if they do you can't really compare it to anything because you've never seen it before so I felt the same way. I knew it was bad, just not that there was such a huge amount of water in some places like that freeway
Yes I live there and drive those roads all week. It was horrible..video doesn’t justify it. My brother in law, myself, and a few friends took jet skis out to help...I was literally pulling people from their houses...roofs..2nd story floors..I would bump in to things under water and realize it was a truck or street sign.. it was crazy. Worst I’ve ever seen it in Houston.
Dimitri Wega I agree only prayers won't help but that's what I can do sitting thousands of miles away and also I believe at least people who believe in God understand the power of prayer. I hope you are helping them with aid you said about..
I don't think people realize just BIG things REALLY are in Texas. This water is over, what we call, the spaghetti bowls. That is 100 feet up sometime. I am one street from going under . . . prayers. :/
On a positive note, we got to miss a week of school lol. I know some schools flooded out, but hopefully we can get back to school soon... Aside from that, the flood has gone down a bit in some areas like mine. My family was able to come back to Houston after evacuating. Blessed to only have minor damages to our home. We'll probably have to replace the flooring and some parts of the ceilings and walls. Hopefully everyone recovers and stays safe. I wish the best for the ones who's homes were destroyed. 🙏🏽 Make sure to help and donate to Houston, every dollars counts. Even my family donated...
We missed 2 months, I know this is really old but everyone’s locker was flooded, when we opened them, everything was covered in storm water and we had to get everything new because our school flooded hard.
That's really deep water in some spots. I live up the road from a river that goes through my whole town. It does flood our schools baseball fields sometimes and one year I remember it crested at 23 feet and flooded our township building and 50 homes. I can't even imagine if it was 55 feet crest like Houstons rivers. Our whole town would be under water and that breaks my heart. Houston is a big city made up of smaller towns like mine and so many are now gone. I'm trying to put myself in their shoes with this but I can't even imagine. I don't care what you believe in. Pray to it, send positive vibes to it, worship to it for Houston. And not just Houston. The whole area that was affected. Everyone's focusing on this flood but it flooded and winds destroyed other parts of the state and other states. I'm not even sure what I meant to get out with this comment and I wish I could do more than donate. God (or whatever you believe in) help these people
Harvey was so devastating because it didn't MOVE. Usually, hurricanes make landfall and peter out as they blow inland. But when Harvey hit, there was a pressure system in central Texas that prevented the hurricane from moving inland. So northern winds were pushing down, but the Gulf winds were blowing the storm up, and like an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object, Harvey's momentum prevented it from blowing in any other direction. This Category 4 storm literally *parked* on top of a major city for nearly a week! Moreover, part of the storm remained over the ocean, so as it swirled, it continued to pick up water, which is why it didn't lose steam after initial landfall and continued to dump copious amounts of rain. It was such a freakish coincidence of weather that most meteorologists had never seen anything like it before, and likely will never see one like it again.
Man that is crazy. The whole country needs to step up. If you're not close enough to go and help or to offer shelter to a displaced family you can still donate to the red cross. Every bit helps.
Not only have the People of Houston lost their homes, many of their jobs are effected too, therefore, they won't be able to go to work to earn their way back! This is so sad and heartbreaking! GOD BLESS them and GIVE THEM THE STRENGTH, to CARRY ON! In the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, AMEN. More importantly, our Government should get OUT of the Middle East, and use those TRILLIONS of Dollars and MILITARY to REBUILD all the Centuries Old Infrastructure, so that this Devastation doesn't happen AGAIN ....... in any State!
People don't realize how bad it was, I was born and raised in Houston and I never thought I'd have to evacuate my own home because it's been destroyed by this. This was one of the worst hurricanes in Texas history. Thousands of people including my family and I are homeless now either on shelter or in hotels until we get assistance.. it's absolutely devastating and I'm very grateful for all the help people have brought us from all over.
Wdym I was there too and it was terrible in some part I had to leave my house but luckily there was an apartment of 2 story’s and we broke the window and got in one of our friends was paying the rent for it and he had a house he was at his house when it happened and he told us the only thing we could do was brake the window and get in since he couldn’t give us the key
for my birthday, i got the lovely gift of being woken up at 4 am because one of the tornadoes that harvey was spawning west of the city almost hit my house. luckily no flooding though!
Most of Houston is a flood plain, I used to live out there. It always is wet and mini floods when ever it rains. This storm is terrible best wishes and will try to donate to those affected.
(At the time of writing this comment) In 5 days it will mark 1 year since Hurricane Harvey hit Houston with 51 inches of water and devastated millions. The city responded amazingly with boats and even a monster truck. Although Harvey struck tragedy, Houston was awarded with the Astros winning the MLB World Series. This shows that this city is #HoustonStrong
I was a mailman in the community bordering the Whiteoak Bayou (zip 77009) from the first shot. Most of the houses bordering it were on hills, so hopefully that provided a barrier for the community behind the hill.
The people here are great I live in Katy where it didn't get flooded but when we drove to Houston two days after the flooding stopped most the water receded some water was 16 feet high and has lowered to 3 ft so efforts are being made
It's so crazy to me to see the places I've drove through in a town i was born, raised, and currently living in seen this way. My neighbor is fine but I have no way to get to anyone without flooding my car. I'm Basically Basically Trapped where I live. I believe well make it. We're strong people.
The amazing thing is how well everyone behaved, on the whole. Neighborhoods formed militias to stop people from outside the city coming in and looting. Really sad to see that. My prayers for people of Houston. Also I wonder how can people still leave racist comment on a natural calamity like this..

I had 2 weeks. School inwqs working at got some flood damage.
It was the year after I graduated and I had a 1 night stand that turned into a week long relationship ship because of Harvey lol
This is so sad Houston will never be the same 😓
