- A trip report on the longest domestic Intercity train in Belgium Oostende to Eupen via Brugge, Gent, Brussels, Leuven, Liége & Verviers. In the video I'll show the railway station of Oostende first, aftrer that the train and some views from the train and at the end I'll show you a bit of the small railway station of Eupen.

Wow, that station has changed beyond all recognition for me, the last time I used it I took the ferry from Folkestone just before the channel tunnel opened, happy memories getting the then Oostende - Vienna overnight express.. Really nice video 😊👍🏽
A bit more Information on Eupen. Until 1918/19 the area of Eupen-Malmedy was part of Germany. Thanks to the treaty of Versailles it was cut of and given to Belgium. So the rail line to Eupen used to be longer into Germany. On the OpenRailway Map you can see this.
The connection from Eupen to Stolberg (Germany) still exists. Plans to reintroduce services on it exist, but they come and go.
It’s a great route, over 4 hours, and Eupen and Ostend are both nice destinations. Thx for sharing this video

Zeer goede review. Vanaf eind dit jaar/begin volgend jaar worden de huidige kusttrams vervangen door nieuwe exemplaren, de Urbos 100 van CAF . De oudste trams in Antwerpen zullen nadien hetzelfde lot ondergaan. De M7 rijtuigen rijden momenteel in hybride samenstellingen op enkele verbindingen van deze verbinding, samen met I11-rijtuigen, en ze zullen dat nog lange tijd doen vooraleer de verbinding uit uitsluitend M7 rijtuigen zal bestaan. Een grappig detail aan het station van Oostende is dat tijdens de renovatie van de perrons en sporen is beslist om het oudere aantal van 11 perronsporen te herleiden tot 8 in plaats van het geplande aantal 10, waardoor de perronsporen genummerd zijn van 3 t.e.m. 10, in plaats van 1 t.e.m. 8. De geplande perronsporen 1 en 2, die als laatste herbouwd moesten worden, zijn er niet gekomen.
Ik hoop dat het nog heel lang zal duren voordat I11 niet meer op Oostende Eupen rijd.
@@65012 Als ik eerlijk ben de l11 ziet mij er chiller uit, ik heb ook de kans gehad uit M7 maar die heeft op dit moment nogal wat probleempjes.
@@belgiantrainspotter4886 ja ik vind het ook veel leuker maar mijn favoriet blijft de M6 want zijn geluiden zijn echt mooi.

16:18 This line further extends from Gare Eupen to Stolberg hbf near Aachen via Raeren, Walheim, Stolberg Rathhaus . It was used as an alternate freight (including military troop movement) route to Belgium from Germany, after Hammer bridge was destroyed by the Belgian forces. It later fell into disuse after WW-2. Prior to July 2021, Euregio bahn RB20 link train is used to operate on stolberg hbf-stolberg Rathaus hbf until the line was damaged in July 2021 heavy floods. Its still under repair. In google earth you can still see tracks from Stolberg Rathaus to Eupen covered with thick vegetation. Hope DB and SNCB revive this entire route..

Het is eerder uitzonderlijk dat er met 2 locomotieven gereden wordt. Normaal hangt er een locomotief aan de zijde in Oostende, en een stuurrijtuig i11 aan de kant van Eupen... die willen echter nogal eens tegenstribbelen, en dan wordt er met 2 locomotieven gereden.
De containers aan de zijkant zijn inderdaad tijdelijk, maar niemand weet wanneer de faciliteiten in het station komen. Momenteel zijn er geen voorzieningen voor...
Er zijn maar 8 sporen meer in Oostende, genummerd 3 tot 10. De sporen 1 & 2 zijn verdwenen.

14:05 vrij uniek om een Eurostar e300 in Schaarbeek te zien staan! Deze stellen worden normaliter in Vorst gestald.

Ik ben veel in oostende om te zeilen en af en toe ga ik met de trein maar ben nooit binnen geweest want meestal moet ik in Brugge overstappen dus elke trein in oostende kan ik opstappen om in Brugge te kunnen overstappen ik wist zelf niet dat je naar binnen kon
Over de HSL tussen Brussel en Luik rijden de ICE treinen maar 250 km/h, dit komt vanwege het feit dat de ICE anders problemen krijgt met opvliegend ballast. Goeie video :D
ook de nieuwe ice 3 neo die dit jaar gaat rijden?

Oostende Station looks very modern and the historic building surrounded by the new building reminds me of gare du Strasbourg in France except there's a huge glass bubble covering that 😂
Hopefully you will come to the UK (when the corona situation goes down of course) there is a huge variety of trains here you will enjoy
I definitely want to go to the UK, I've planned to go this summer. Hopefully I can travel again soon.
@@Trainviking yes hopefully you will be able to visit the uk many towns and cities it might be alot diffrerent to the rest of europe but when you come hopefully you will enjoy yourself and hopefully now with the vaccines travel could be allowed in a few months

For the left historical part of the station of Ostend, I don't know whether you knew this already, but it was actually a hotel in the past. Now it has been purchased by the city of Ostend in 2018, so I hope it will be renovated soon (www.hln.be/in-de-buurt/oostende/hotel-terminus-krijgt-nieuwe-invulling~ab6df0201/). The toilets in the station indeed look quite temporary, but I have no idea whether they will be replaced by fixed ones in the future.
Really, when it will be a hotel I'll definitely go there and make a hotel, station and train review (spoiler alert next week there will be a hotel review)
@@Trainviking No, I meant that it was a hotel in the past. Normally it will become a tourist information office and an event hall in the future (although I haven’t heard about it anymore in the last 2 years).

Thank you. I really want to do a whole lot of train travel in the Americas as well :). For the next upcoming videos I will just do some local international lines (this channel is all about long distance and international train travel). Hopefully we'll be able to travel again soon and hopefully my video's will inspire people to choose for then train:). I travelled on NJ transit before i was making these video's, it was pretty good.
