The Mariah and Ariana comparison isn't fair to say, it's R&B vs Pop and different vocal approaches since youth. However, if Ariana remains consistent she will be just as iconic and of legendary status.
Ariana sings r&b too especially yours truly and positions are very r&b comparing to dw and sweetener which are very pop.

The match up fire was but I found Ariana's contribution to this song to be minimal. She's has her verse and she's heard during the first two choruses but beyond that the track revert to solo Abel. I think I would have enjoyed it more if she was still heard during the final piece.

yes exactly. like the save your tears remix, that was so much better imo. not that this was bad but it could’ve been way better. she should’ve had the lead for one chorus, probs the one following her verse, then abel could have done the bridge and last chorus as it is now, with her sprinkled in the back.
