    Conti GP5000 AS35 is even more relaxed under harsh conditions :D

    I have a lot wider rims I have the same tyres in 28s they measure 31 rear 32 front. They are monsters in physicality and in speed. It really does make a difference. At my weight and on my rims 60psi in the dry and 54 or so in the wet. Currently not running tubeless as I’m waiting for bits to arrive. So bedding them in with latex tubes should also help squish the rim tape down.

    I'm 💯 sold on tubeless after being quit the skeptic. Between the original Gavias that came on my TCR and the 5000 S TRs that I put on, I have about 3000 flat free miles over various types of paved roads. Just picked up a 5000 28 and 30 to swap out in a few months..

    I've been riding 28 mm for the last 7 years, but likewise am now of the opinion that wider would be better on our awful roads. Whether I go tentatively to 30 or jump straight to 32 remains to be seen.

    30 is the new 28 for everyday riding. pay attention to system weight and you can't really go wrong.

    I'm mostly riding hills so I value light weight and low rolling resistance. I'll stick to 25mm Contis.

      Each to their own dude... there is only a 50g difference between 25mm and 30mm, and looking at the stats from testing on Rolling Resistance.com - it's 1w of RR difference, and that's more than made up for when it comes to soaking up our road surfaces, plus the grip is better for cornering - not to mention the lower pressure means better puncture resistance. I climb lots, that's not shown in this but living here in the Lake District means I do a fair amount of it.

      @@CycletheNation50g per tyre = 100g of rotational mass penalty is huge because is rotational mass effect much more than static mass like frame etc

      @@Pablo_Coach100g counts for nothing in comparison to the loss of watts with rock hard tyres on our surfaces. All the data shows that tubeless / lower pressures are faster up to a point.

      @Pablo_Coach 5 месяцев назад

      @@octaneaandmusic yes but it’s better to have lighter tyres that have similar rolling resistance and that’s why I prefer light 25c over heavier 28c

      With supple quality 25c tyres od rim with 21mm internal width and 30mm external this tyres measure 27mm and give good amount of comfort and there no Watts lost at all. With 28-30c tyres there is more Watts lost in acceleration because of weight

    what was the inner width of those rims?
    i installed 32mm gp5000 (regular, not the STR) on my 19mm inner width rims and they measure around 28-29mm WTF

    I found out that 28 is the best because my 50mm wheels are made for 28 mm and going larger gives a more light bulb effect that makes them more twitchy in side wind. 🌬️

    Talking about the A6070 going south from Burton towards Longlands by any chance? It's shocking, Lancashire County Council should be ashamed.

    Hola one caveat the gavia tyres are awful for rolling resistance whereas the gp 5000 fly so you’d be faster regardless lol I’ve the same wheels do you notice any ballooning of the tyre as the slr1 wheels are pretty narrow external (23mm)?

    • @CycletheNation
      @CycletheNation  11 месяцев назад

      Hi, cheers for the comment. I have no idea on the RR of the Gavias, basically they were better to ride than being on 25mm tubed so it was a free upgrade that came with the bike. As for ballooning, they're certainly wider than the rim, but I'm happy at that. The tyre fills the clearances to the frame in a much neater way IMO

      @@CycletheNation awesome health to enjoy m8 - yes the gavia tyres roll like square rubber bands lol I’ve had a couple of sets and now on gp5000 myself but 25 I’ll try 28 next as I’m not brave enough to go 30 yet 😂
