- I've played video games for as long as I remember. Some of the games were good, some of them were bad, and anywhere in between. But some of them - whether good or not - have stuck with me over time for one reason or another. In this video I'll go over some of the games that I have a weird, personal obsession with. Obviously there's plenty of games I have personal attatchments to that I've talked about a lot: Legend of Zelda games, a lot of bigger Nintendo titles or games you'd expect me to mention, but most of those I'm leaving out of this video in favour of weirder, less known titles. Or at least games I haven't talked about as much on this channel.

The SRW series, a crossover game series of franchises that at the time i mostly knew nothing about but the amount of effort they put into the unified setting held my interest.

That Darkseed video is something i watch every Halloween, its comfort food to me. Though i never played the game itself.
Part of the reason why I started watching RUclips, and also why PBG was one of my earliest and easiest subs, is because often RUclipsrs of the early late 2000's to 2010's liked to talk about their childhood nostalgia and their personal memories, they wouldn't just say "Isn't Mario World for the SNES Nostalgic?" they would, more often than not, talk about growing up with siblings and sharing saved datas friend's sleepovers and all that fun stuff that gaming such a huge part of a lot of our lives! Cadicarus is another one for me because he was British and it was super interesting to hear how him and his sister and friends grew up with the Playstation and other stuff! I feel like that's what's missing from RUclips these days, it's gotten too sterile and generic these days... does anyone else feel that way?

Yeah, even some of the channels I used to love have fallen into this issue, which I guess is fine since I honestly need to cut back on how much RUclips I watch anyways, but it's a shame how RUclips has hit this point where most people just want to follow the trends 🤔
You guys talk about “subs” like it’s life changing for the RUclipsr and expect them to bow to you everytime you get online. Heart my sub or risk me “unsubbing” lol seriously just quit

The game series I have a weird obsession over is Ace Attorney, love that series.
After playing the original trilogy, I went on to buy all the other games and binge them even the fan translation of Investigations 2. Now they're all thankfully localized, but I hope I'll get go experience that again with a different series.
I remember quoting “I’m just going to relax and water my lawn for the next… week or two.” every day for months in middle school because of your first review.

10:52 One of my friends unironically loved Fortune Street when we were kids. He would just play it for hours after school by himself for years. I never even tried it because we would play other games when I was over, but I remember him talking about how much he really enjoyed the game.
Never actually played Shemu, but apparently it was a big inspiration for Yakuza.
I haven't played Shenmue, but Yakuza 0 sounds exactly like it has all of what PBG likes about Shenmue.

It's funny that when PBG is talking about Vegas Dreams, his idea is one I've also been thinking about for ages, like a half-casino half-life sim game. I've been cooking up that exact same idea for ages. Too bad making games is really hard!

I absolutely love these videos and this is one of my favorites. I like hearing Peebs very personal taste and connection to these games that I've never heard of. In fact most of these games don't even seem appealing to me but I just love hearing his perspective on it. A typical RUclipsr will talk about Mario or Zelda or whatever and that's fine but every enthusiast has some really strange quirks and obsessions and I like to hear about those.
Dude you got me through college! I dropped out then went back but I had your videos on a lot while I studied. I didn’t grow up with Nintendo games but your videos made me appreciate those games so much. It’s really awesome to see how far you’ve come. And you’ve stated a family seriously congratulations to you!

There was a channel that used to riff on wacky or odd games called Retsupurae that exposed me to the game. So you made my day making a video about it
Same for me, I remember Retsupurae talked about it and Harvester, among other goofy ass PC games like those. Once I saw other people start talking about them or playing it after that, I get surprised more people knew about it because those games were so obscure and weird.
Stayed at a vacation house for a week and played Sega Soccer Slam and loved it. Thanks for the nostalgia

Always great to watch another Peebs video. A game I'm weirdly obssessed with is "J.B. Harold Manhattan Requiem" for the Nintendo Switch. it is only available on the Japanese eShop, but it has an English option. There is an iOS version available but it has monetization practices I don't agree with. Manhattan Requiem is a detective visual novel game that uses real photos with a grainy filter as background images to add to the game's atmosphere. There's a lot of clicking through menu's and backtracking so it may not be everyone's cup of tea

I remember playing Shenmue on my DC and doing everything but the main story for hours, I feel you PBG.
The Anime Adaptation was decent
It's not just you PBG, my friends and I were obsessed with Wii Ski back in the day. I even pulled it back up recently and there really is something about it that's captivating. It's strange for a "sports" game to have a sense of exploration and discovery. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I'd definitely call it a hidden gem on the Wii.

One of my favorite memories of high school is being in the pit orchestra for a play and between songs during the dress rehearsal a bunch of us would play Mario Kart DS. One of the cool things about it back then was that you could play with people who didn't own the game.
22:17 That bit was actually extremely important for me: I used to play that game all the time as a kid, with my siblings, but had completely forgotten about it until I saw that video and heard the music. It sent me into a spiral of searching for the game, finding out the name and unlocking all those precious memories.
So, thank you for your weird obsession, Peebs: it helped me feel like a kid again.

I love Wii Ski and Snowboard! My family had it as part of a collection of games that came with the Wii we got secondhand. It's super fun to mess around and then watch each person's instant replay.

I saw a LOT of the art in Darkseed in HR Giger’s musuem when I went to Switzer. Oh my god, if youre soft of heart do not go, but it literallt looks like youre entering that exact alien dark world!

Dark Seed was the scariest game for me as a kid next to Silent Hill. Still creepy today, which back then, it was SO much more so. Loved Darkseed!

I played shenmue while I was in lock down in 2020 and it was one of the best gaming experiences I had. I'd just wake up and play it all the time. Good times
Super mario 64 ds is my favorite nintendo game! I love it so much!
I love that game because of all the crazy strats you can pull with Luigi. My favorite is the one where you have to jump on those oscillating pyramids up to a platform with a star, but you can also start at the very top of the level as Luigi, do the helicopter jump thing he does and slowly glide down to that platform

Darkseed has the same vibe as Fear and Hunger tbh where it’s a super cryptic game that is extremely difficult to play without a guide (or a lot of trial error) and the artstyle is kind of similar too and as fear and hunger is one of my favorite games and I have never actually gotten to try darkseed out I’m going to have to carve out time sometime to give it a try!!!!!!!
Also you’re so right that games with casinos in them really always are 1,000x better!! I miss when Pokemon games had them sooooo badly!!! Like I remember when I was a kid I loved spending my time hanging out at the game corner because the music was such a vibe!!! I’m totally with you that they need to make more interactive casino games with more stuff to do and more of a story!!! I’m so surprised no one has done that- it’s almost as surprising to me as the fact that they haven’t made a sequel to Tomodachi Life- they need to get on both!!! And making a magician’s quest sequel in English as well as in Japanese!!! Also that is exactly how I react when I have a good soda so I may just have to try out Shenmue now!!! I also love slow-paced games!!

I love fortune street, I got into it because I was weirdly obsessed with the board game they have in Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, which plays very similarly to fortune street. Another board game type video game that is underrated that I am weirdly obsessed with is Dokapon Kingdom. Got into in college and played a few full games of it with my roommates, and then, after graduating, I went on to make my youngest brother obsessed with the game too by forcing him to play with me, though I'm honestly surprised he enjoys it as much as he does since I completely dominate every time we play, though I guess most of the fun we have comes from uniting to bully the coms 🤔
Dokapon mentioned, let's go! Breaking the game by stealing from Darklings will never not be funny and I will NEVER apologize for it.

Thank you for being one of the few people I know who is also a huge fan of Fortune Street! Still my favourite, I'd gladly go back to that over Monopoly any day.
One thing I absolutely loved about multiplayer DS games (that'll probably never happen again) was a lot of them supported DS download play, which basically let you play a game or demo with several people but only one person actually needed the game. My friends would often play Mario Kart during school lunches and I always enjoyed playing as Shy Guy (who was exclusive to DS download play at the time. It was actually the only character you could play if you didn't own the game but that's not really a major issue.)
Uncharted 4 is that game for me. I played it for the first time last November, and I can't stop listening to the soundtrack, or thinking about the set-pieces.
if you like dark seed you'd probably love garage bad dream adventure. both games have a crazy unique artstyle and are point and click games from the same era of 90s PC point and click adventure games.
My weird obsessions are Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance 1/2 and Pac-Man World 2. I replay them all every summer and have since I was a kid.
I would love if you made another video of Darks Seed one and two. Those have been some of my favorite videos from you besides the harvest moon ones. Plus I feel poor Mike Dabson deserved better... or not, but I do love this super unlucky protagonist

My unhealthy obsession is with the scary and tragic parts of the Zelda games, there’s something so uncanny about it.
I totally relate on SM64DS ruining the original n64 version. There’s a mod that allows you to use the 3ds circle pad for 360 degree movement and it really is just the best version of the game in my opinion.

When I was a kid I was obsessed with Luigi’s mansion although I was afraid of it. I was so afraid I made my brothers played it for me but looking back I’m pretty sure it’s the reason I know love horror games. Good vid peebs 👍

For me though, the game most people dont even talk about that just stuck with me is Sonic Rush Adventure. It was for the DS, and let you play between Sonic and Blaze. It was tropically themed
I prefer the original Rush but Adventure is really fun too. I wish they'd bring Marine back
A game I'm weirdly obsessed with is No More Heroes. I'd seen people play it before, but I finally played it for myself last year and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. It might even be my favourite game ever now.

Back to Nature really is such an underrated HM title though. It was my first Harvest Moon. My eldest brother just randomly brought it home one day in like, I wanna say maybe 2005? (I was around 12/13'ish) And I was like Wtf, a farming game? And he's like "Trust me, it's good" - And then I played, and fell in love with the anime character design and got extremely obsessed with it. I used to download the midi files of the music, had a phase of slapping Popuri PNG's on every school project whenever I could squeeze her in (Because she reminded me of Sailor Chibi Moon), and I would lose hours of my life playing it, even before school. Still to this day, it remains one of my favourites.
Though I was absolutely stoked to discover More Friends of Mineral Town when I was about 18 (I'm 32 now, so quite some time ago lol) and realizing I could play as a girl. Now I own the Switch remake and yeahhh, it doesn't Quite capture the same magic as they changed all the art But, I am grateful a modern version exists in some form.
PBG I definitely recommend the crazy taxi Games done quick live band performance that goes with a speedrun of the game

I saw the thumbnail, and its quite the coincidence that I started thinking about Darkseed again after, what, a decade? Decade and a half? I remember that I couldn't watch your Darkseed video way, WAY back cause I was too young and it scared the hell out of me. Darkseed has kinda been emblematic for that ancient era of your channel, alongside Dinosaur Island and that one terrible Lord of the Rings game. I don't even know what would've reminded me of Darkseed recently. "A quaint little store with a little bit of everything" is forever a PuttPutt reference to me, or at least until I play Darkseed myself.

Even though I never played (or had heard of) it, I have a pretty strong connection with Darkseed 2 from the Retsupurae (YT channel) series. The ramped up absurdity and pathetic nature of Mike's character (especially when Mike wasn't even involved with the game's development) paired with the utter incompetence of the player in the longplay they used is such a perfect pairing. Even though it's like a 7+ hour series I still go back and rewatch it every couple years because it's so funny and almost cozy at this point.

Mine would probably be all the GameBoy & GameBoy Advance Harvest Moon games, Elmo in Grouchland on GameBoy Color, Evolution Worlds on GameCube, Wave Race Blue Storm, Mario Kart Double Dash, the original Super Monkey Ball, Super Smash Bros Melee, Mr. Driller Drill Spirits on DS there are definitely many more, but these are the ones that immediately come to mind
