Global Cycling Network "You're going to suffer anyway, so you may as well suffer well...", it's something people who don't cycle don't understand about cycling!
That Vos likes to sing while racing. OMG, it would be fantastic if we had audio+video of her singing the "Love Hime" song from the Yowamushi Pedal cycling anime during a race.
Global Cycling Network I'm new to road, I appreciate the introduction to one of the greats! Sadly her name doesn't come up like Sagan, Cipollini, Froome, etc.
"You are going to suffer anyway so you might as well suffer well". An instant classic. It should be immortalized along with Lemond's "It never gets easier. You just go faster". Thanks for this!
Both tremendous driven people who’ve reached the top, sharing their experiences. This was a lovely relaxed and open interview of someone who should be mentioned in same breath as Pele, Redgrave and Federer. A true great.
One thing I have learned from Emma from her previous videos and Marianne in this one is the importance of a positive outllook in both cycling and life. Success and performance are a mental game combined with intense effort, without a positive attitude both suffer. Thanks for sharing your positive oulooks and insights, they are appreciated by me.
Emma, great show. Two cycling greats at once. Keeping guests comfortable and welcome is very difficult, whilst providing a great interview and show for the viewers. It shows great talent. Many thanks again to your presentation talent. Thank you !
Truly enjoyed your exchange with Marianne on the tough days in the saddle! Only a true cyclist & racer could contribute such insightful comments. Thank you for such a great interview with a great & well respected cyclist - one of the greatest of all time!
I just like Marianne Ros and once again doing what you love and loving what you do seems to be key. Thank you Vos- Ride on and inspire generations of women cyclists x
I really enjoyed this conversation between Emma and Marianne, and I have to say i was at the edge of my seat, just waiting for either of them to take a sip from their pretend cup of coffee. Maybe next time one of the fellows could pretend to pour them each a refill :)
Terrific conversation and insight. Somehow, the fact that they haven't bothered to remove the "Hot Water" sign behind them and you can hear clinking in the background makes it seem even more natural; like you're just having coffee with, you know, Emma Pooley and Marianne Vos, no big deal. More like this, please, GCN!
GCN get working on recruiting Marianne as a future presenter when she's retired. She would take your content to the next level. Great work guys as always.
What a fantastic ask GCN Anything! Emma was great... rattling through the questions and Marianne was great as well. I never knew that she would get a song stuck in her head and then it would just creep out whilst she was racing! Now that definately is one cool thing to do on your bike! A hugely illuminating interview 💡and its very cool to see just the passion for the sport come through when Marianne talks and I think that it helps having Emma interview her since the two of them rode against each other. I don't think that you would find so many cyclist who are so good at so many different disaplins and that is something which was very interesting to hear. I take a break between road season and cyclocorss... (how long, oh well maybe 3-4 weeks. Thats a break!!!😥) Loved it and thank you GCN!
"I never knew that she would get a song stuck in her head and then it would just creep out whilst she was racing" she isnt an alien, how can that not happen to anybody lol
Global Cycling Network I’m slightly biased due to my Dutch nationality, would love to see an interview with Anna van der Breggen or Annemiek van Vleuten..! But would also be interested to get to know more about female cyclists with other nationalities😊. Thanks!!
Love how she was almost gonna say "Bijvoorbeeld" instead of "for example" over at 24:28 Other than that i'm impressed by her good english. Like you said Emma; greatest female cyclist around. Great interview
Excellent interview between two incredibly classy women. Like Marianne, I also get songs stuck in my head. One time it was "Mairzy Doats". It syncopated exactly with my cadence, and stuck around for about an hour until I slowed down and figured out I was actually saying "mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy"... Most annoying day ever on a bike!
Excellent. What I found most interesting was listening to a discussion about cycle racing from a woman's point of view. It is very different yet inspiring to me as a male cyclist. Well done.
Thank You for this interview and I am really happy that GCN keeps remind us about women cyclists. WT is amazing and it is a shame that TV is not showing us how amazing it can be. TBH i have discovered some of my domestic riders thnx to GCN. Btw. Emma is great presenter.
My absolute cycling hero, I had the 'pleasure' of very briefly meeting Marianne and Laura Kenny at a meet and greet during a track competition at Lea Valley, unfortunately I got totally tongue tied and my supposed to be light hearted glib comment about finally meeting her match (in Laura on laura's natural environment) fell out of my mouth as some weird insult to my absolute sporting icon. Sorry Marianne, you're awesome.
Everybody makes an arse of themselves when they meet their sporting heroes, I'm a Forest fan and I became overawed near Cloughie, different sport, but same apprehensive attitude.
Good video I like it when you have the pros come to talk . Could you please do a video of the best road bikes under $400 or a video on the vilano shadow
I'm adding another vote = Interview ANNEMIEK VAN VLEUTEN............I added to my previous request list the other day after she won Giro Rosa overall............now she just WON the first mountain stage of La Course.......so if You can catch her (smile) it would be great to see her interviewed.......great rider but also looks like a fun spirit too.
Since You asked (thanks) - I'll start with the women since they get so much less coverage & support 1) Katie Hall - UHC - 1st Amgen Tour of CA 2018 / 2nd 2017 2) Coryn Rivera - Giant Sunweb - Just won USA National Road Championship 3) Amanda Spratt - Mitchelton - Scott - Now for the Men 1) Egan Bernal - Sky - 1st Amgen Tour of CA............ amazing young rider 2) Caleb Ewan - Mitchelton-Scott - 3) Tom Dumoulin - Giant Sunweb 4) Miguel Angel Lopez Moreno - Astana Just to name a few. Recognize that the logistics might be tough..........in person is great Marianne seemed very comfortable & open during the interview. But a good on-line ie; FaceTime might work too if Video angles can be worked out.
Absolutely loved this video, also I wanted to know the best way to get into professional cycling, I cycle at least 6 hours a day 7 days a week, and want to start getting info competive cycling, cheers.
I would like to have known the very basic few exercises Vos uses every day to reset her body prior to taking on the day’s regimen. Some people do a set of roll ups, squats, foot flexions, breathing just to setup the body to norms before launching into the day. I would also like to know if she uses any methods such as Pilates to correct the body balance, or recover from injury.
Global Cycling Network oh, it doesn't really matter. The thing is just to mention, point out and promote women cycling in general. What eventually will lead to better media coverage (I hope!). You are doing great work already with your weekly race recaps where women's races are included. But it'd be nice to see Kasia Niewiadoma interviewed if you ask though :)
People seems to forget that this woman hates losing more than she loves winning. She hates it so much that her body basically broke down trying not to lose races. And she made huge sacrifices in the past 2-3 years for her team by playing supporting role for her teammates. This speaks volumes to her character as a person. But I think she should stop doing that and be a racer once again because that’s what she is good at and where she loves to be.
A brain worm song...I so suffer with this also! Just when you're most concentrating...there it is again, and only ever one line. Feel better now I'm in good company. :D
What did you find most interesting from the interview? Let us know 👇
Global Cycling Network "You're going to suffer anyway, so you may as well suffer well...", it's something people who don't cycle don't understand about cycling!
I love her openess - shes one of those sort of mysterious people yet friendly too - lovely interview
Love Marianne Vos

Spoken like a true hard ass.
The female equivalent of Jensie's "Shut up legs"?
A great saying!
Great interview. Pooley is really doing her bit to raise the profile of women’s cycling.
i agree , i like them more than the men lol
Cheers Michael
I am so grateful to Marianne for doing a long interview in English. Thank you both.
Glad you enjoyed it
This was one of the best GCN vids I’ve ever seen. Amazing to see the elusive champion come to life before your eyes. Go Marianne!
Thanks Jochem
Learned more about cycling from this interview than any interview between two blokes.
Both tremendous driven people who’ve reached the top, sharing their experiences. This was a lovely relaxed and open interview of someone who should be mentioned in same breath as Pele, Redgrave and Federer. A true great.
So glad that GCN now includes more women cycling in the channel! I know many female views and myself have resubscribed the channel since Emma joined!
Thanks Nancy, that's great to hear.

She is one of the GOATS, amazing.
Ms. Vos is so polite and exudes humility. Emma does a wonderful job of getting us some insight to the greatest cyclist of all time.

The best of all times...grettings from Chile
What a fascinating interview. She’s such a great person and ambassador for the sport
I knew she was mad successful but I think this interview just made her my new favorite person!
Emma, great show. Two cycling greats at once. Keeping guests comfortable and welcome is very difficult, whilst providing a great interview and show for the viewers. It shows great talent. Many thanks again to your presentation talent. Thank you !
Thanks Richard

Good interview with undoubtedly the best cycling champion of the modern era .
Thanks rrobotman
I really enjoyed this conversation between Emma and Marianne, and I have to say i was at the edge of my seat, just waiting for either of them to take a sip from their pretend cup of coffee. Maybe next time one of the fellows could pretend to pour them each a refill :)
☕️
Marianne is just amazing, i would love to know more about her.
Luis So
Excellent episode! Well done Emma! Marianne is a gem!
Class interviewing, Emma is raising the bar for GCN.
Always the real deal & now the WaowDeal as well!
Simply the finest racing cyclist of all time, and such a lovely person.

Thanks Diren, glad you enjoyed the ask!
Great interview Emma good insight thanks 😄👍
Thanks Paul, who else would you like to see interviewed?
Emma is bloody class.
7:50 Marianne: "There is something in me that can ride a bike" :D I love her, she's a class of art by herself

Thanks Emma most interesting and helpful for me, Marianne's way to cope with pain was to hope it will not hurt as much later on.
Cheers Willian
Vos is such a legend!
I thought it was a great interview. Emma and Marianne were candid and to the point. Keep up the good work !!
Great interview.

she isnt an alien, how can that not happen to anybody lol
Thanks John, glad you enjoyed the ask as much as we did
LOVED this..!! Inspired.
Thanks Sophie! Who else would you like to see us interview?
Global Cycling Network I’m slightly biased due to my Dutch nationality, would love to see an interview with Anna van der Breggen or Annemiek van Vleuten..! But would also be interested to get to know more about female cyclists with other nationalities😊. Thanks!!
Met Marianne once. A stunning woman such a great aura around her
Only discovered this video today. And what on earth.. two amazing women!
Great Interview of a wonderful world-class person!! (In addition to the palmarès!)
Cheers John, let us know if there is anyone else you would like us to interview
Love how she was almost gonna say "Bijvoorbeeld" instead of "for example" over at 24:28
Other than that i'm impressed by her good english. Like you said Emma; greatest female cyclist around. Great interview
Nice to see she's just as classy here as she is on the bike.
Excellent interview between two incredibly classy women. Like Marianne, I also get songs stuck in my head. One time it was "Mairzy Doats". Questions on the future - interesting to see the new challenges of retired athletes.
This is amazing!
Legendary!
I am new fan. Go Vos. Wish more women’s races were on broadcast
This interview makes me want to see more women's cycling and more coverage and getting to know more female athletes in the sport.
That's great!
You could have put coffee in the cups!!
Philip Clare Simon and Dan had already finished them, hah.
What a babe :) fantastic interview wish it was longer
Brilliant ambassador for cycling.
Very true Helen
Thank You for this interview and I am really happy that GCN keeps remind us about women cyclists. WT is amazing and it is a shame that TV is not showing us how amazing it can be. TBH i have discovered some of my domestic riders thnx to GCN. Btw. Emma is great presenter.

Lovely person, Vos the boss.
Two great women cyclists!! YAY!!!!!! We want to see MORE women interviews PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!
Good video I like it when you have the pros come to talk . Could you please do a video of the best road bikes under $400 or a video on the vilano shadow
Marianne bezit een fascinerende combinatie van vriendelijkheid, bescheidenheid en killerinstinct.
Well done - wish GCN would do more extended 1 on 1 interviews.........including more women
Hi My Sho, who else would you like to see interviewed?
Since You asked (thanks) - I'll start with the women since they get so much less coverage & support
1) Katie Hall - UHC - 1st Amgen Tour of CA 2018 / 2nd 2017
2) Coryn Rivera - Giant Sunweb - Just won USA National Road Championship
3) Amanda Spratt - Mitchelton - Scott -
Now for the Men
1) Egan Bernal - Sky - 1st Amgen Tour of CA............ amazing young rider
2) Caleb Ewan - Mitchelton-Scott -
3) Tom Dumoulin - Giant Sunweb
4) Miguel Angel Lopez Moreno - Astana
Just to name a few.
Recognize that the logistics might be tough..........in person is great Marianne seemed very comfortable & open during the interview. But a good on-line ie; FaceTime might work too if Video angles can be worked out.
After her win (multiple stages + Overall) at the Giro Rosa - Pls add Annemiek van Vleuten of MTS

Boy, do we miss Emma and the stars she'd bring to the table or what? She brought about a nice added aspect of GCN that is missing now.
Yep!
Please, do incorporate more women cycling to your regular videos schedule.
Nice idea Adam, who else would you like to see?
Global Cycling Network oh, it doesn't really matter. The thing is just to mention, point out and promote women cycling in general. What eventually will lead to better media coverage (I hope!). You are doing great work already with your weekly race recaps where women's races are included. But it'd be nice to see Kasia Niewiadoma interviewed if you ask though :)
The most lovely lady in cycling 😙😙😙
Marianne Vos geweldige vrouw it means great woman makes me proud to be from the Netherlands
Passed someone in quickstep kit today. Then dropped them after about a mile. Surely a pro on a cafe ride 😉
Third! And now I'm actually going to start watching the video. I'm so excited!
Hope it didn't disappoint!
It certainly did not! Many thanks for the insightful interview. :)
Best cyclist of all time! bold claim, I won't disagree though, super awesome.
She's so cute!
Emma Pooley was a really good interviewer on GCN,natural interviewer with a good rapport, please get her back.
I am with you Spider, but, I think Emma is on to bigger things!
@@ronbell7920 I agree,best wishes from Spider.
Great interview, thanks! :) (she forgot to answer what she is going to do after cycling)
Glad you enjoyed the interview!
People seems to forget that this woman hates losing more than she loves winning. She hates it so much that her body basically broke down trying not to lose races. But I think she should stop doing that and be a racer once again because that’s what she is good at and where she loves to be.
Is there any other cyclist who has an arguable claim to being the greatest of all time that's as humble as Marianne Vos seems?
"Singing" lol
That would so easily get into the heads of all around you.
A brain worm song...I so suffer with this also! Just when you're most concentrating...there it is again, and only ever one line. Feel better now I'm in good company. :D
What a beautiful person..yes, I'm in love..lol.
I liked this video before I even watched it.
A truly beautiful woman in every way
