Before the BA A380s return to service they underwent extensive maintenance at Lufthansa Technik Philippines in Manila, my cousin is among the engineers and technicians who worked on this massive aircraft.
That was the most packed I've ever seen Founders. I had been camping out there since about 1pm. Thank you for the hard work you put in to bring us the live streams!
Not going to happen for a while. Emitrates and Etihad have the largest collection of A380s and are using them mainly in the Middle East to take advantage of its enormous seat capacity and range
I have flown on BA380 back in 2013 LAX-LHR and back it was an amazing ride and thrill of a lifetime. I urge anyone who wants to fly on it to do so. You will not regret it
I wish I could see it in Britannia or Thomas Cook livery. It would look interesting. Sadly, Thomas Cook is no more. TUI bought out the rest of Britannia's operations and merged it into their brand completely. The show "Airline" originated in the UK and Britannia was the first airline to agree to let the TV crew on board its planes.
I guess we got lucky on Friday... BA's second daily A380 flight to DFW Airport on Saturday 7/2 was CANCELED! I read they were having some fuel delivery issues at Heathrow.
These BA A380s first underwent extensive maintenance, repairs and overhauling before returning to passenger service at the Lufthansa Technik Philippines in Manila. My cousin is among the engineers and technicians who worked on this massive aircraft.
Now I’m wondering when Qantas and Emirates will fly the A380 into DFW. Qantas is operating there again but with the 787 Dreamliner. I’ve flown aboard both carriers’ 380s, Emirates’ many times, plus Singapore Airlines’ and AirFrance’s, and I’m here to say it’s a magnificent creation. Despite the power, its takeoff is whisper quiet, and you feel like you’re just lofting off the runway. A great aircraft indeed, and I’m sorry for its short production life. Had I lived in the metro, I’d have joined you for this special arrival. My next flight to London this fall will definitely route through DFW so I can fly this beast. Cheers!
For the moment, probably not. Qantas traffic has not picked up since Covid killed their DFW A380 flight and a 787 works great for SYD-DFW-SYD. Unlikely that Emirates will bring back their A380 to DFW, again due to traffic. Etihad killed their DFW route, but Qatar now has TWO daily DFW flights ... a 777 and and A350. Also, interesting that Air France, Turkish, Iberia and Finnair all now have DFW flights. The BA A380 flight is only 6 days per week, btw and BA could downsize to a 777 for LHR-DFW-LHR over the winter period. Plus, AA has FOUR daily LHR flights, so there is plenty of capacity on the DFW-LHR route.
@@JustinLHopkins It does indeed, even though some of the flights are not daily. JAL, Korean and Lufthansa already had established DFW flights and I'd read that Iberia and Finnair were wanting to tap into OneWorld connections at DFW. Interestingly, Turkish Airlines has the most international destinations of all carriers, so it's good that they are able to make DFW a viable route, too.
Thanks for watching, @BevA! Clips are all in sequence (check the clock in the lower right corner of the frame)... except for the "teaser" opening shot over credits.
@@RunwayDFW your welcome and I was the little kid with the tan shorts and the white shoes holding a phone and sadly didn’t see you but I’m super glad to be in your live stream!
It’s always heartening to see Americans acknowledge that the world beyond their parochial and insular country actually does fabulous things. A British Airways A380 all the way from London ( the original London ….!) says everything . 😎
Well, Francisco, we currently get only one A380 flight per day at DFW. The British Airways Speedbird is scheduled to arrive around 5 p.m. and to leave 90 minutes later around 7:30 p.m. It was originally a daily flight but there appears now to be at least one day a week when the route does not operate (usually Saturday or Sunday). Of course, that could all change by September! Also, the flight is often delayed by as much as two hours on some days.
Both Qantas and Emirates had previously flown the A380 to DFW Airport. Not sure when Emirates suspended its super jumbo service, but Qantas stopped flying the 380 to DFW at the start of the pandemic. When Qantas resumed service from Sydney earlier this year, it was with B787 aircraft. So currently British Airways is the only carrier with 380 service to DFW.
Trust me, you don't want to get hit by the blast of those engines. They can throw a 2 ton car like a toy. I've seen it happen on safety videos shown to airport workers. It was smart of the police to corral the crowds away from the fence.
*4 and No The demand between DFW and London is large. AA is limited to how many planes they can operate between the two destinations. BA does this seasonally every year. Before the pandemic it was always the 747 Now it’s the A380
Thanks for your comment, @rulinghabs. It was necessary to set up where I did because being in front of people would have put the camera below the security fence line, another -- more invasive -- obstruction. The only thing that might have helped would be a camera platform, but that's not really an option at a public park like DFW Founders' Plaza! I hope you'll keep watching Runway DFW...
@@RunwayDFW Still amazing footage. I did not know the DPD will let people that close to the runway. It was nice of them to let the plane spotters film this event. Glad to see the superjumbo is still flying. Emirates still has the largest collection at a whopping 120! Because of Dubai's centralized location, it really allows them to take maximum advantage of the A380 and they are doing that. I wonder if they'll retrofit some of the planes with their insane "flying apartments."
You cant stop people from standing where they do. As much as we'd want it Walt doesnt get exclusive rights to stand at the front to stream. Great coverage Walt, sorry I couldn't stick around to watch it live, my bed was calling me 🤣
If you showed the founders of aviation this, they’d be in absolute awe. A flying beast! Thanks for covering this! Sending love from North TX.

Beautiful, beautiful plane. I’ve flown it many times and it is a superlative ride. The best in fact.
As a person who lives near DFW, I’m proud to see the jumbo return here after Covid. I think the flight number was 192.
Its not a Jumbo that is the 747
I was at the plaza for this! If you saw the dork with a camera and the homemade "I
Great camera work. Love the wide shots on short final.
9:15 - Sheesh, the Embraer looks like a toy compared to the A380. Glad to see it back in DFW.
BA made right decision to bring A380s back. To me they are suited for US routes
Even better, much lower chance of being bumped when the airline has an A380!😁
Empress of the Skies. Malicious reports of her demise were premature. You cannot kill a bird so beloved.

Is Dallas the only city in Texas that has the A380...? Seems like Austin would be a good candidate for an A380?
The Dallas metro is much larger than Austin.
Expect the A380 to start appearing at JFK in December once Terminal 8 gets British Airways as a tenant.
How do you know BA will deploy their 380 to JFK?
@@ameerali.ouarda Because Terminal 8 can accommodate the plane.
