So I had asked Gilly about IPL 2008 a few years ago, and he said that the DC team didn’t gel well that season because things were still quite new. In the second season, they made it a point to take interest in their teammates and their different cultures/personalities, and this created a much better rapport among them all. That form obviously carried onto 2010, where they started well but had a rocky road mid-tournament, only to end up winning 5 in 5 to qualify 2nd. Post that season, the Chargers owners surprisingly released Gilchrist and everyone else (except Pragyan Ojha) for the first mega auction. In fact, Gilly even taunted them after he made his first fifty of 2011 against DC at Hyderabad. Post the 2011 mega auction, obviously the whole team underwent a complete overhaul - so it is quite understandable that they weren’t able to perform in 2011/12. Also, the Sunrisers Hyderabad are a separate entity. They are not a rebranded version of the Deccan Chargers. In fact, the DC owners even won a case against the BCCI a few years ago, so yeah - SRH is a separate entity. It was a completely new team that was created to fill in the void left by the Chargers after IPL 2012. Also, it was Gilchrist who prompted the BCCI to come up with a fairer system for the semi-finals because he felt that it was slightly unfair that DC had knocked out DD despite the latter having a much better group stage. Therefore, the playoffs. Now coming to the premise/title of this video, bro - only a lockdown kid would refer to the Chargers victory as a “fluke”. 😂 The team was a literal powerhouse and is a very big nostalgia draw for a lot of us who actually grew up with the IPL. Them being bad in 2008 was surprising even then, and they made up for it in the next 2 years. Of course, any person who would do proper research or actually saw those seasons unfolding in real life, would know this.

Back then IPL had Semi-Final system after the league stage which gave all the 4 teams an equal opportunity to win the final but now since 2011, we have Play-off system where the top 2 teams get an edge over the next 2 teams(i.e., 3rd & 4th) so now most of the times teams finishing 1st or 2nd lift the🏆the only exception being in 2016 but the same wasn't the case upto 2010

That ipl rcb deserved it by all means. All departments were strong and in fact. Apart from that rcb was only the team which had the best South African players playing in that season be it kallis, steyn, Boucher is an additional plus point playing in South Africa.
