Excellent discussion. And good ideas and opinions from your viewers. I've done a few draft-legal races on closed circuits. And really enjoyed them. IMO, at age-group level, the best triathletes are still the best. I've been racing triathlons since 1989. Always on a road bike and clip-ons. Sometimes a disc wheel. Never, ever felt like buying a TT bike. Kinda shocked that new athletes feel pressure to get one. Can go bloody fast with good training and commited racing on a basic set-up. Keep up the videos Dan. Love them.
Hi dan mate! I am looking towards doing a full Ironman in the future and was curious as to how you are fuelling on the super long bike ride. Are you taking food with you? Snacks, Sandwiches etc. Do you focus on eating food mostly during transition then gels and bars on the bike? Also, are you planning on doing Leeds this year? Thank you :D
When start training you will find food that will help you, I will always find out foods and gels at races so I can get used to them on the bike if you need energy
Nice one! See you in Leeds :D. Oh yes certainly eating a lot, in the summer I use carb mix in bottles and then a mix of things like malt loaf / flapjack / jelly babies / sweets etc depending on the length, intensity and how many cafe stops there are. I wouldn’t eat anything in transition, focus on keeping moving and do all your fuelling on the bike / run. I do often have a gel in T1 but only as I’m running anyway

Thanks very much, I’m going to try a draft legal duathlon this year. Road bike and clip ons is plenty fast enough isn’t it :)
Loved this.
Cheers!
Interesting take
I seen a few draft league races normally on race tracks longesting being between half and Olympic at most
Happy training
Nice one, bet they’d be wicked fun!
