I get the point you're trying to make, there is definitely some hypocrisy there, but I think trashtalk is generally part of the game, it can play a big part in getting your team hyped. The difference in this situation though was just the reactions after the loss. If you saw the FNC postmatch interview, you could see how upset and frustrated Boaster was, likely with himself. The most invested people in Esports are the teams themselves, they want to win, so when you're in Boaster's position where you've constantly been underperforming when it comes to frags, you're probably going to blame yourself a lot for the losses. All of that is a lot to take mentally, and some can do that better than others. Especially when you consider FNC have been underperforming this year, being eliminated from Shanghai basically immediately after Swiss and then not even qualifying for Madrid. It's just a pretty tough loss to deal with

I believe its 80% the coach for FNC.. Mini had a system and boaster clicked with him on different levels. Elmer doesn't seem so complex as Mini was.. IT hits different when you have a coach like mini and someone new comes in and starts a new system. FNC need to find themselves again. IMO i would get a new coach.. China's 2nd and 3rd seed almost beat Emea's 2nd and 3rd seed. Heretics is the most consistent perhaps, but fut got owned on both matches. Fpx won against them and drg lost a winnable game. While Prx got owned by G2
I agree for coach issue. Because the system that GenG is running now is different when they have elma (current coach of FNC). They need also to consider their sports psychologist because theirs back then is now with KC and considering KC being the rookie team in terms of player distribution and experience they doing pretty well. It's not the players, it's the management i think.
GenG just played the craziest W Key antistrat to near perfection. They played fantastic, with the exception of the lockdown round on icebox that might have been the best series this year. The moment they backed up and slowed down to their more typical style, 100T started taking rounds, just a great match all around. This wasn't 100T collapsing, it was GenG stepping up. Top 4 favorites headed in was 100T, PRX, GenG and maybe G2. That is working out to be the top teams so I don't know why anyone is surprised. EMEA teams are getting read and countered, as usual and VCT China is still team deathmatch. Most of the NA fans had PRX winning fwiw.

I was a bit disappointed by his ridiculous statement, which he made not jokingly but in earnest: "The level of play at Masters Madrid is not that high. At this rate, we can beat everyone in the tournament, including GenG and Sentinels." I don't know if He'll be there still in 2023, but He seems to be sticking to his old strategies and compositions, with his team-focused style all but gone, relying heavily on Derke and alfa hero play. They need to build a deep strategy and game plan again from scratch. Anyway, I believe in them. This is not a team that will end like this. Definitely need them in this year's Champions.

So I am a radiant peak tier player (576rr peak) and have been an Igl for my t3 team for the past 2 years. I don't plan on going pro, nor do I think I am even comparable in terms of skill to pro players, but I think I have a reasonably decent understanding of the game. While some teams are showing innovation, the number of mistakes being made by individual players and just team macro is much higher than last year. For example, go and watch a fnatic vod from this time last year, and they genuinely play almost perfect (of course they had off days). Then, their mid rounding was also excellent. Nowadays you have fucking sentinels Winning a tournament. Sentinels is not a bad team, but if you put sentinels Madrid form into lockin they would come 4th at best. They frequently made basic errors both individually and as a team. Now fanatic look awful ATM, and boaster shouldn't of said that, but when I watch VCT now I feel like I'm watching ranked players with good aim 90% of the time when last year the level of EG fnc and loud was always a genuine pleasure to watch. Anyway I can't give you any stats or anything but from someone who is pretty good at the game, although far from pro don't get me wrong, I can't help but feel like the level has gone down.

FNC had a good run when they were not but calling the level of play lower when you (FNC) can’t even keep up with that level of play is disingenuous

Well, a sport is a sport. FNC should not allow this to go any further. Restructuring is inevitable in any team. Imho, Boaster should take up coaching or ass. coaching duties and give the IGL mantle to someone else. Going that low in most of the matches, internationally AND in EMEA, is not a good show of capability.

For fnatic I think it's chronicle at internationals. Boasters performance is always low be it domestic or international. But chronicle seems to really underperformed at internationals. To me they should replace chronicle and see what happens since we can't do big changes now. Boaster can't be changed since an IGL swap is disastrous as seen with NRG.

I get the point you're trying to make, there is definitely some hypocrisy there, but I think trashtalk is generally part of the game, it can play a big part in getting your team hyped.
The difference in this situation though was just the reactions after the loss. If you saw the FNC postmatch interview, you could see how upset and frustrated Boaster was, likely with himself. The most invested people in Esports are the teams themselves, they want to win, so when you're in Boaster's position where you've constantly been underperforming when it comes to frags, you're probably going to blame yourself a lot for the losses. All of that is a lot to take mentally, and some can do that better than others. Especially when you consider FNC have been underperforming this year, being eliminated from Shanghai basically immediately after Swiss and then not even qualifying for Madrid. It's just a pretty tough loss to deal with

I believe its 80% the coach for FNC.. Mini had a system and boaster clicked with him on different levels. Elmer doesn't seem so complex as Mini was.. IT hits different when you have a coach like mini and someone new comes in and starts a new system. FNC need to find themselves again. IMO i would get a new coach.. China's 2nd and 3rd seed almost beat Emea's 2nd and 3rd seed. Heretics is the most consistent perhaps, but fut got owned on both matches. Fpx won against them and drg lost a winnable game. While Prx got owned by G2
I agree for coach issue. Because the system that GenG is running now is different when they have elma (current coach of FNC). They need also to consider their sports psychologist because theirs back then is now with KC and considering KC being the rookie team in terms of player distribution and experience they doing pretty well. GenG just played the craziest W Key antistrat to near perfection. They played fantastic, with the exception of the lockdown round on icebox that might have been the best series this year.
The moment they backed up and slowed down to their more typical style, 100T started taking rounds, just a great match all around. This wasn't 100T collapsing, it was GenG stepping up.
Top 4 favorites headed in was 100T, PRX, GenG and maybe G2. That is working out to be the top teams so I don't know why anyone is surprised. EMEA teams are getting read and countered, as usual and VCT China is still team deathmatch.

So I am a radiant peak tier player (576rr peak) and have been an Igl for my t3 team for the past 2 years. I don't plan on going pro, nor do I think I am even comparable in terms of skill to pro players, but I think I have a reasonably decent understanding of the game.
While some teams are showing innovation, the number of mistakes being made by individual players and just team macro is much higher than last year. For example, go and watch a fnatic vod from this time last year, and they genuinely play almost perfect (of course they had off days). Then, their mid rounding was also excellent. Nowadays you have fucking sentinels Winning a tournament. Sentinels is not a bad team, but if you put sentinels Madrid form into lockin they would come 4th at best. They frequently made basic errors both individually and as a team. Now fanatic look awful ATM, and boaster shouldn't of said that, but when I watch VCT now I feel like I'm watching ranked players with good aim 90% of the time when last year the level of EG fnc and loud was always a genuine pleasure to watch.
Anyway I can't give you any stats or anything but from someone who is pretty good at the game, although far from pro don't get me wrong, I can't help but feel like the level has gone down.

FNC had a good run when they were not but calling the level of play lower when you (FNC) can’t even keep up with that level of play is disingenuous

Well, a sport is a sport. FNC should not allow this to go any further. Restructuring is inevitable in any team. Imho, Boaster should take up coaching or ass. coaching duties and give the IGL mantle to someone else. Going that low in most of the matches, internationally AND in EMEA, is not a good show of capability.

For fnatic I think it's chronicle at internationals. Boasters performance is always low be it domestic or international. But chronicle seems to really underperformed at internationals.
