I used a Flip Video camera (which I also still have!). It was small/cheap and much better than the phone cameras at the time. Not full HD but pretty good.

DUDE, MY GRANDPA HAD ONE OF THESE. I remember being so entertained by it as a child that I once found it left on the counter, and then I went through the entire fridge opening bottle after bottle with it because I was a dumb kid. Grandpa wasn't mad, at least, not entirely. It gave him a good excuse to get his friends together and have a big party.
