Good heavens man, you've sold your soul to the pixels 😉
3 fine shots and the final spot is a cracker.

Shooting large format is a perishable skill. When I got back into it, it was a pain in the arse for sure. But now that I shoot it more frequently it's getting faster and easier. And the more I see the results the less inclined I am to shoot digital at all. To me, digital is just playing around. If I want to attempt to make something worthy it's got to be film. I'd suggest a Hasselblad or Pentax 67 to make things easier, but the kits are heavier than my 4x5 so there's no weight savings there. The last place I have to shave weight with my 4x5 kit is the film holders. 6 Chamonix wood ones weigh 1/2 pound lighter than 6 of my Fidelity Elite holders. So slowly I'm swapping those out. I've got my 45-N2 in the same F-Stop bag and with the 90/135/210/300 lenses and 6 holders (fidelity elites) I'm around 23 pounds with tripods and GoPros. The photographs in this video are first class. It's worth the hassle!!! 👍🙂

      Cheers
I shoot more hasselblad than anything else judging from my overflowing ring binders ! I've done Pentax 67 , it wasn't my favourite camera
I've racked up about 6 hours with a digital camera in the last 3 years so I think my soul is safe for now !

@@AustenGoldsmithPhotography The 67 is what it is. It's the best field camera of the 67's but that's not saying much. I too prefer the Hassleblad, but the 6x6 cropped starts getting a little small. Whereas the 67 negative starts to kinda get that 4x5 feeling when printing. Not sure it's worth shooting though. I'd prefer to have the 4x5 and the Hasselblad if I'm honest, but a lack of funding is holding me back from switching... 🙄

Good to see you back and thanks for sharing this video. I like all 3 photos although the final image is my favourite. The lighthouse is not to shabby but then I do enjoy long exposure photography whether it be analogue or digital. Look forward to the next video.

Nice job as always, It is a pain in the ass to carry and work with large format, but when I print the picture in dark room, when I see that magnification and detail I very soon forget about icing the knee:). For 8x10 I got my self Intrepid camera this year , they are so much lighter and compact, my knees are thankful. Thank you for the videos and please keep making them. Have a great day.

Enjoy all three images and the setup of the 4x5 in the water is Instagram worthy LOL. Old knees are the worse...keep filming and we will keep watching!

Great watching you work , I always fancied large format, now in my mid to late 60s the joints won’t allow a full day shoot, what I like about film it slows you down it’s a great discipline.

Good stuff Austen. I like the first one too. I used to enjoy shooting industrial decay about 30 years ago.

Great stuff, I also shoot with an X-pro3 and my Chamonix 45F2, the LF is a pain in the rear, but sooooooo worth it when you get it right. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽. Thank you for this vid. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.

First thing is first. Lovely photographs Austen. You also put your finger right on the button. If you really want to get large views, get a digital camera ( preferably a sponsored one, and a silly F1.2 lens of some sort ), go to an exotic or chic location, Find a couple of very attractive models with hardly anything on, and start shooting ' portraits ' or ' lifestyle ' or something lke that. Do make sure to put the lenshood the wrong way around on the lens, and hold the camera at an arms length to stare into the LCD screen, nevermind the viewfinder. Then give a sermon about how you go about ' editing ' those lovlies using your own presets ( available at a cost to everyone ). Soon you will have views in the thousands, and sponsors will line up to give you gear to ' review '. As for me, I divide my photography into 40% film, and 60% digital. Nothing wrong with digital so long as I admit to myself that actually it is the camera ( imaging compuer to be more precise ) that does everything. With film, I do 60% 35mm and the other 40% is shared between LF and MF. BTW, if your camera had a tilting rear standard, you could have tilted it to make those rocks less prominent or otherwise. Lets hope to see you soon. PS: Once Ansel Adams was asked about how many photographs he creates in a year? His answer was amazing, he said twelve photographs that matter is a good score for any photographer in a year. Worth keeping that in mind. again, great photos Austen, thanks.

Exotic locations with chicks ! mm not sure my wife would be happy about that ,Yes my rear standard does tilt . Im not clever enough for that yet and with the tide going out rapidly I had to work fast . Takes me hours if I add rear camera movements !
