So just to clear my understanding, if you install it at home you keep all the settings as your Primary but when you say land in the country of your holiday you'd put "Mobile Data" as the Holafly one, switch off Data Roaming on the personal (before you get on your plane) and then turn on "Data roaming" on your Holafly one and that'll active the plan and start the timer for however long you bought the plan for?
Nice video! I have a question: I purchased the Holafly e-sim today. I am travelling to the US in a few days. The Holafly chat said I could both innstall and activate before flying. I could just turn on data roaming when I arrive. But let's say I install and activate before my flight, do I understand you correctly that the days indeed will start counting even though I am not in the US yet? I am a bit confused about this.
Yes, once you install and activate the eSIM will begin and the days that you have will start to count down. Just try to install and activate as close to take off as possible, I wouldn't rely on airport WiFi but could you do it just before you leave for the airport? ^Jonny
Good guide but I'm not sure I understand your reasoning for leaving the iMessage & Facetime setting on the primary SIM. As these are data services, surely you want these on the Holafly SIM too otherwise every iMessage you send is going to try using your primary SIM?
I’m flying into a Kuala Lumpur. I don’t want to stop and sit down once I get to the airport in Kuala Lumpur if I activate in Chicago, I don’t really care if it’s burning time on my Holafly account. Because once I get to the airport, I don’t want to have to hook up to a Wi-Fi at the airport and have to depend on that to turn on my Holafly. Does that sound like I would be able to do that? I need data for using Google maps immediately when I get there.
Hi Mike. I would activate in Chicago, if you're not bothered by losing a day or two then that's definitely your best option. Activate it at home on a stable WiFi connection, then as your plane takes off, disable your primary SIM, and turn your eSIM on, make sure Cellular Service is also set to your new Holafly eSIM. Once you arrive in Kuala Lumpur you can just switch it on. ^Jonny
Good video. Question I don’t want to lose my American Verizon phone number. How do I set the setting in my phone so that my Verizon phone number is still usable but I am using fly data.
Just make sure that your Verizon SIM remains your Primary SIM, I demonstrated this in the video here: ruclips.net/video/YyEaOvaR_OM/видео.htmlsi=8D56KR-5Jw1uURkb&t=85
Quick question, I am leaving for airport today and wanted to install the e sim from home, as staying in hotel overnight and flying tomorrow. Would I be able to install the e sim, continue with my UK data , turn off my data roaming on boarding and once I arrive in my destination with hotel wifi go over to the Holafly e sim, thank you.
Yes absolutely. Just make the changes via the Mobile/Cellular Service section within Settings. Here you can toggle your Primary UK SIM and then when you arrive at your travel destination or before your flight departs, just toggle your new Holafly eSIM. ^Jonny
Yeah you can still use hotel WiFi, in fact, your phone will prioritise WiFI over your eSIM data so you'll save on data by using WiFi. Hope that helps. ^Jonny
I am in my destination country, New Zealand. I wasn’t expecting to buy a data only esim but now I have to. Currently I have my phone on airplane mode and roaming is on off to not incur roaming charges. I use the air b and b wifi. To install and activate this eSIM (data only) I guess I must turn off airplane mode correct? And keep it off while using the eSIM data? I’m confused with the airplane mode. I don’t want to incur unexpected charges from my phone company at home.
My experience was good (I'm in England), speeds were fast with 50-60mbps for down. Just be mindful of the fair usage policy, once I had used 3GB of data I found that my speeds were throttled due to their fair usage policy. If you'd like to learn more I have a full video review of Holafly that you may find beneficial. ^Jonny
Good lord. Can there be any more steps to do this??? So everything hinges on the airport WIFI working when you land at your destination. I just saw where you mention that in another persons comments. That info really needs to be said in this video.
Honestly, don't be intimidated by it. There are 6 steps, but it is really straightforward, and after the first time, I'm certain you'll get it. No definitely don't rely on airport WiFi. You could set it up before flying and at home on a more stable internet connection. I always recommend installing as close to your departure date as possible but you don't need to do it when you land. ^Jonny

Correct. That's how I understood it.

Hey can you please help I bought one for Pakistan and I have already installed and activated now what should I do
Thanks for a well-explained video! You not only showed what the settings should be, but importantly, WHY they should be a certain way!
You're welcome, glad you found the video useful :) ^Jonny

I think you do that if you're in your home country.
Once you reach your destination country you switch over to esim.

Great Video. But being thick how much of the install process can I do ahead of my travel date ?? Please help 1st time using an eSIM
I would recommend doing it as close to your departure date as possible. Some eSIMs begin once you've activated them, so do keep this in mind. ^Jonny

thankyousomuch for this video! I have 1 question when u have your e-sim on can i still use hotel wifi or is it just 1 of them? Greetings!

@@Monitodotcomokay thankyou!

hii im sorry just one more question.. when u install your e-sim is dataroaming then already on or do u need to put it on by yourself? :)
Just double check Mobile/Celluar Service within your settings, it should be set to your Holafly eSIM. If so then it's good to go! ^Jonny
good video. biggest confusion is how to disable primary sim and this helps.
Hey man great video! Quick question though should i install the eSim before arriving on destination or after arriving at the airport for example?
Hey mate! Because the eSIM will activate once you've installed it, it's best to try to do this as close to your arrival as possible. ^Jonny
Thank u so much! This was the most helpful out there!
That's so awesome to read, thank you and I'm glad it was so helpful. ^Jonny
Great install video. Going to Scotland and England next month!
How is Holafly’s coverage in Scotland and England?
My experience was good (I'm in England), speeds were fast with 50-60mbps for down. Perfectly explained. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I bought two ESim but received only one Qr Code via email. So it would work when both would scan the same Qr code to activate the Esim?

Best explanation I’ve seen. Thank you !🙏
Thanks for watching 😊!
soooo complicated
Yep, they didn’t make it very user-friendly. I agree.
