Really great video. Love the attention to detail and how you just walking through all the real world use cases (i.e like testing the resistance of pulling out the MacBook from the laptop after adding additional stuff to the bag). Good stuff!
I actually ordered both to try them, but your video saved me from actually having go go through the hassle of sending back the 20 because it's just too small, awesome and thanks a lot :))
@@kennyurbina6172 I'm not joking, just an hour ago I said "I love this backpack" because I managed to fit a full load of groceries plus my law books in it on my way home thanks to the fact that it expands ofer 30L with the straps holding the lid. One of the best buys I've ever made, I really do use it daily and being able to move around the compartments plus the side access and great build... I can't recommend it enough, simply a great backpack!
So I have the 30 and I’m about to order the 20 for more regular use. 30 is ever so slightly big for regular use in my opinion. It depends what you carry regularly. I’m thinking a drone and a camera with 1 or 2 lenses. The other “issue” with the 30 is things tend to move around more if it’s not full.
@@kentao4 I completely agree! I solved the 'moving around' problem by just keeping stuff towards the bottom, but I'm also going to get a 20L for more regular use at some point, maybe when they release the V3 though :) the extra space really isn't a drawback I think, because the 30L is 20L collapsed and when you DO need spontanuous extra 10L you can expand it all the way or even further. But yeah, also especially if you're a smaller person the 30L might not be that comfy for an 'everyday' backpack, but better be safe than sorry in my opinion. Rather get the 30L first -> when more use cases call for the 20, get that one *additionally* , don't think the difference isn't that big (no pun intended).
@@OdiumTV ha! Spot on. I do the same with keeping things near the bottom. I held a 20 in the store and it’s perfect. Picking it up today. Rei has their anniversary sale so I’m getting 20% off plus my dividends from last year. Otherwise I wouldn’t be buying if I was paying full price! I’ll check the v3 if it ever comes out lol. I’ve been waiting but haven’t seen anything so I’m pulling the trigger since I know it’s a great bag. I also have 2 of the slings 10 and 5L. Both perfect!
Nice video, bit slow at the beginning but I liked the care you put into packing it. Towards the end the audio is a tad out of sync but nothing too bad. Also, it seems your camera's anti banding setting is off.
Is there a big enough difference between the 20l and the 30l in terms of the laptop compartment? I have the 20l and a 16 inch MacBook and if the bag is fully loaded, it's very difficult to take the MacBook in and out..is it worth the upgrade?
Yes, I do show the exact issue you are describing around 12:21 that show how much extra space you have to work with using the 30 liter. The bottom of pouch where the laptop rests is a bit like a hammock as well which keeps the laptop off of the ground. This way when you drop or place your bag on the ground your laptop does not actually impact the ground. If you are squeezing a large laptop in you may be losing out on this protection.
I have the 30 but the 20 for me is better for practical use. If I’m traveling and want to bring everything, I’ll go 30. If I’m carrying my camera and a drone plus a lens, 20 will do fine. I don’t like how things move around in the 30 when it’s not packed up!
Great review man thank you! This is exactly what I needed as I’m looking for a backpack to fit my new MBP 16” too. For hiking purposes and taking photos do you think the 30L is a bit much?
It's not going to be the greatest bag for a long rural hike. Short well beaten trail hike is okay. It lacks the support and back ventilation that a true hiking bag would. If you have your MBP in it it's also going to get quite heavy. Lastly there are camera bags that that have an included or built in rain cover, this does not. Thanks for viewing and commenting!
Although very late to the party but i am torn between the 30 and the 20 … i am going to use it primarily for college but i also want to take it to the long weekend trips .. is the 30 too much bulky for college ? I am 6feet and basically have the same body structure as yours ….
@@shamshid i bought it and it doesn't fit. You've gotta buy the bigger one. Luckly i'm not going to the office due to covid, so not need to fit my keyboard in the bag atm.
Hi, how much space does the 20L have on each side of the 16" MacBook? Not front to back of the bag, but side to side... My laptop is almost an inch wider than the MacBook at 10.5" (front of laptop to back laptop)... It's the same height at 14" and whilst it's also a bit thicker, I don't have a tablet so that should be fine. But the width concerns me..
20 or 30L for a 14 inch macbook pro ? I don’t have an ipad or anything else I just need ro move around the city with my macbook while keeping it protected.
I would probably get this again. I took a look just now at the prvke and I prefer the aesthetic of the peak design bag. It looks like the prvke opens from the back which may be easier to organize all your camera gear. For me though I use this more as a every day bag. I also like the full side access the peak design offers.
@@ChristopherHsu do you think I should ask PD to exchange for the 30L. They are doing a warranty replacement for my Everyday Messenger 15” that they know longer make. Will I be stretching the material more than I should with the 20L?

Congrats on the purchase. Great bag.

Great review. Very in depth.
Do you think the new Macbook Pro M1 Pro/Max 16” will fit in the 20L?
yes kudos for this question! i wanna know as well
It is a tight fit, you will need to zip it slowly as it touches the corners of the new MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16".
I’ve bought the 16” macbook pro max in the meantime and it fits perfectly! No problem

will it fit a 17.3 inch laptop? i have a msi and trying to find a good travel/everyday use bag with a laptop compartment
Hi Christoper Hsu can i check the 20Lcan fit 15 inch or 16 inch is it have some gap or totally fit the laptop tks

You can definitely get by with the 14".
Are both bags able to be put underneath the seat in front of you on a plane?
30:06 shows the 30L bag tucked under an airplane seat. Yes both sizes would fit but sticks out a little.
Just what I need to know whether my 20L can fit that 16"

looks uncomfortable if worn for more than an hour for some reason... the straps and the stiff back side
I’m getting the 20L and am nervous that my 16” 2021 and 12.9” with Magic Keyboard will both fit. I’d rather carry light though. Any thoughts?
It will fit but it will just be really tight so pulling the devices out will be a bit harder.
