    Biggest issue is the game IS able to get you what it considers a good ping in a lobby full of sweats.
    Even if the algorithm is meant to prioritize ping and it only sees skill as a lower priority, if it is almost always achieving the ping requirement, the skill requirement will have substantially more weight by nature.
    It’s a system that seems by metrics to be succeeding because the metrics for success were set too low for the infrastructure in which it operates.

    • @theblart4196
      @theblart4196 2 месяца назад +3

      Exactly! The other day we were playing and my friend has a 1 kdr while mine is only 1.15 as of late… We ended up in a lobby against iSmixie and one her demon friends. It made us realize that maybe we are just placed in these lobbies for the streamers enjoyment at the cost of our own. The best part was when the two of them only got 2nd place with 20+ kills each because they were beaten by another team with an even higher kill count. SBMM my arse!!

    • @absolutelysobeast
      @absolutelysobeast 2 месяца назад +3

      @charredhusk. Agreed. What exactly is “an acceptable range” where i live 95 out of 100 games i am playing between 45-65 ping. How is that a fair experience if i have the same KD as other players in the lobby but they have a sub 20ms ping? Its crazy to think the creators and monitors of this system consider that a fair experience. If a 2kd player encounters a 1.5kd player and they arw both at 25ms ping who wins? The guy who is better and thats the definition of fairness. If two players have that same KD of 2.0 and they meet in game and one of them has a 50ms ping and the other has 18ms who is going to win? Thats NOT a fair fight between the two and it boggles my mind that nobody can see that. I guess i shouldnt expect different because whoever is in charge of this has definitely never played a game competitively in their life. Seriously though its absolute INSANITY that they cant wrap their head around this. Even worse though is that you know some of them know exactly what im saying is true but they do nothing and say nothing. Thats even worse

    • @thesponzie
      @thesponzie 2 месяца назад

      @@theblart4196you’re missing the point. Your KD’s were 1 and 1.15. That means that you win almost exactly 50% of your gun fights. In your case slightly more than 50%.
      That means that in the vast majority of cases you MUST be in the appropriate skill level lobbies. If you were always in higher level lobbies you’d have a 0.6? KD etc etc. just have a think about what KD actually means. SBMM isn’t perfect but in your case the vast majority of times it must be working.

    • @kingart23
      @kingart23 2 месяца назад +2

      @@thesponzie maybe you are missing the point as well. If you put in very average player lobbie SMIXIE and few other extremely stacked high k/d teams, what will be the outcome? 3-5 teams will rack up 75% of all the kills. How can a 1 k/d player fight against 6 k/d player? is the 1 k/d player going to win 50% of the gunfights against 2,3,4,5,6 k/d players? I dont think so.

    • @theblart4196
      @theblart4196 2 месяца назад

      @@thesponzie for context, WZ1 I was a 1.7 kd player... WZ2 I became 1.5kd... and currently WZ3 the best I was at is 1.2kd and this is with me playing enough to always increase my skills. I do get what you are saying but when my highest kill game (not incl resurgence) is 14, then why is the majority of my lobbies ending with demon teams with someone at 15-30 kills?
      I do understand that my teammates are a contributing factor, and often we have a friend that is only 0.5-0.8 with us so often I get stuck in 1v2 or 1v3 fights, but that should change the fact that we have demon filled lobbies. Or maybe sometimes it just feels that way haha!

Also, I tend to solo queue a lot on MP and often get paired up *against* fully stacked clans, and mind you I have a 0.7-0.9 KD, I’m not that good, there must be something in the algorithm that doesn’t read my stats right.

    Call of Duty and their original blog post specifically stated that amount of time played does not factor into matchmaking, but in this blog post they admit it clearly does, so right away my Spider Sense was going off, they are just giving you a bunch of information without actually explaining what we really want to hear, and I suspect they never will, obviously ping is going to be the first consideration, but they can and will sacrifice your connection quality to meet the Lobby criteria thereafter, and it's not about a good connection

      It explicitly states there's no ebmm. You can see it in the document and tactical brit included the text in this video. Whether you believe that or not is another issue altogether. What they intended to imply in the white paper was that they use the KPIs to see if their SBMM is working well or not, not that hours played affects your lobby. Edit: I originally misinterpreted the paragraph too.

With all that said, why are my lobbies extremely sweaty. Side note can we get rid of the perk that makes aiming easier while bunny hopping and sliding around?

  • @KID_CHAMELEON
    @KID_CHAMELEON 2 месяца назад +8

    The issue is that no matter how the system is set up, most players aren't happy with it. If skill were given more weight, we'd end up in fairer lobbies with better chances of winning. Despite considering myself slightly above average, I constantly get matched with players who are way better, making it impossible to compete. My squad and I, who are pretty decent players, haven't won a single Warzone match since launch, despite occasionally winning in Resurgence. It's frustrating because we're constantly up against players who outmatch us. Almost all of my friends have quit playing in the past month or so because it's just not fun anymore. No one likes to get stomped every single game. I hope they consider changing the matchmaking algorithm, but they seem content with it as it is as their "data" tells them it works perfectly. It might take a mass exodus of players for them to realize things need to change. At that point it will be too late.

    as i only play mp, i see the match making sbmm, ebmm is definitely how it work based on 18 month of playing between 2-4 hours an evening, my ping can be between 12 to 18 ping if i go over 22 ping ill get packet loss, if i play 8-10 hours on a weekend day, I've notice wins to loss ratios, same players and playlist all are factors, for instance i dont play free for all or s&d in my playlist, and noticed that it can drop you into playlist and you can tell that the game is more sweaty, ive also noticed that over that 8 hour game play the lobbies are varied in skill, and European player. i come to the conclusion that 100% there is an algorithm using, all the above ping, skill, engagement, wins losses, overall your in game performance, input methods and gaming devices, but this is just my observations, i did think about screen shooting each lobby and end game stats to see what match making looks like after a whole day of playing mp.

      In CS 1.6 you had dedicated servers. We knew where all the sweats who participate in WESG were playing so we would pick generaly lower skilled local servers. And the same with tournaments, local ones were waaaay lower skilled then qualifiers for top notch EU tournaments so you simply would choose small LANS in your local area.. If you quit the game because of bad lobbies they don't adjust the algorithms to keep YOU (ebmm) around, they adjust them to keep EVERYONE (kinda sbmm) around. With that said, i find it hard to believe ebmm isn't in warzone. Additionally, i find it hard to believe "ping is king". I'm in the blender all the time now and if i get a win it gets 10 times worse. The word "rigged" is popping up on multiple platforms more and more.
    I started playing COD during covid. Really fell in love with the movement and gunplay. Id never done online shooters and really enjoyed it. At first!
    As time went on I started to feel something was off. If i did well and got a bunch of kills I suddenly was being shot out of the sky when dropping and could barely get a load out. If I was really struggling I would start to hear children in the death chat. I could not figure it out. I searched the general tooic and discovered sbmm. It changed my entire perspective of the game. Up until that moment, I thought I was being dropped into a map with random 100 players to battle it out. It turns out Activision had me on a slot machine.
    I still play with eyes wide open. I use a vpn and geo fence to keep ping low. I still get sweats but im sweaty now too.
    SBMM and EOMM is eventually going to kill the golden goose. The moment "rigged" goes from niche subreddits and youtubers to mainstream the online shooter genre will quickly become a joke. Hopefully, this is when public mathes will drop sbmm and eomm. Even little timmy gets mad when he thinks his wins are fake.

    I have been noticing this trend with a lot of companies. This sort of "we know better than you" approach to matchmaking, game balance, and even content released. It just feels really out of touch to me, and these kind of public facing posts confirm that. You tell players in a blog post that certain things matter or don't matter when it comes to matchmaking, then you release your actual behind the scenes info and lo and behold, the don't matters actually do matter. For a giant like COD I don't see a path forward for them without them losing a significant amount of players, they will just continue to ignore feedback.

    I don't know if this applies to COD or not, but one of the reasons you see extremely high skilled players in just about any tier of Apex Legends lobby centers around that time-to-match metric. There simply are not enough people playing the game at the .01 percentile. The game will never put together a match in that bucket because it would take forever, so the result is that it just throws predators into your gold lobby instead.

    20 ping doesn’t feel like 20 ping so frequently because I have no idea what the other player’s ping is and/or how fast the server is and/or what type of lag compensation/net code is running, etc.
    I can see my ping, and it’s almost always 30 ping or less. But so often it feels like what we used to call a 2 bar.

    I don't think anyone claimed that they are not factoring in ping. But ping is not king, even in Multiplayer I typically get 35-40 ping in 9 out of 10 games instead of the 24 ping that would be my closest server.

  • @blobeyeordie

    Its because the matchmaking isnt the major issue...its the realtime, dynamic, ingame player and gameplay manipulation that is the problem or EOMM, alongside very strong latency compensation. It doesnt matter what your connection is like first and foremost, because there are so many other factors and variables used in its algorithm, that simply dont need to be. There are also those patents that exist for a reason. As tinfoil hat as it may seem and whether or not you want to believe in them, the company likely spent A LOT of money/resources on the R&D of those patents and their implementations. They arent there for no reason. Cod have basically devolved into a mobile game for consoles, constantly altering outcomes and your game to keep you addicting and buying mtx. Same exact thing as casinos, which are designed to addict you to gambling your life away.
    The fact that they likely have lawyers present when organizing and conducting and publishing these interviews, just so they can cleverly avoid the real questions and lie by omission, is honestly disgusting and nefarious to their consumers/player base. Also the fact that this is going on at all and theyre not transparent about the matter like many other devs, means something is definitely wrong. Cod just needs to die. Im truly hoping if or when Xdefiant is released, that it is indeed a cod killer.

    Well thanks for reading the document ( cause I sure as hell won't ) unless I fully loose my will to live and wish to die by complete bordom. What actual alternatives does COD have other than this system for match making? When you have millions of players across many continents playing simultaneously, all expecting to have the best possible experience, you have to prioritize connection. People have to be able to play the game. The people complaining about SBMM have no idea how game design or how net coding works in multiplayer games. The only solution i could think of for future COD to address this, would be some kind of AI statistics based management system which could monitor every players performance real time and make calculautions to match you with other sweaty basement dwelling trash. Great video though.

I’ve got a 1.2KD and mates are 0.85, 0.81 and 0.70 and we’re fighting players who are back flipping through windows 360 sniping up in almost every game, at least we’re getting snipped whilst free falling from 200m etc. The match making is terrible for us and probably 4 out of 10 games has terrible lag. How do streamers get the insanely easy lobbies?

  • @TimmyTues

    Connection is not king.
    Populating a match based on skill is what they are saying.
    I'm in the most populated area in the country (USA) and regularly connect to games with 85+ ping.
    They are flatly lying and being misleading.
    This game experience sucks now.
    I will now back out of every game I don't like because I have no trust in the system.
    I used to stay for every match regardless of performance until vanguard, knowing the game is rigged.
    It is.
    I've experienced previous matchmaking, this match making, and playing with friends.
    Whenever I play with friends I enjoy myself, when I solo, I get absolutely donkey effed.

  • @scooter2shoes
    @scooter2shoes 2 месяца назад

    All they did was *fabricate* "research papers"! Their matchmaking is solely based on an algorithm that rewards pay to win. Nothing more
    Why else would every 3rd match end 100-50. If it were truly skill based, ALL games would be within 10-15 points, not 50. SBMM-Debunked
    Connection based, yeah i dont thinks so!!!!! Once again, in any given lobby, there is 3-4 players on each team with 5-15 ping, 2-3 players with 15-40, and ALWAYS atleast 1 with triple digit latency!
    Everything about Call of Duty is about revenue, You pay for a skin, they give you a couple rounds where "god mode" is enabled for you, and places you in mouthbreather lobbies, and the mouthbreathers see you go 50-5 with said paid for weapon, and are dumb enough to believe its the weapon that gives the advantage, so they are persuaded to buy that weapon thinking it is just that good. Then after those 3-4 matches, the algorithm punishes you, and suddenly you're in the rigged lobby, struggling to go positive, meanwhile someone else in the lobby who just got suckered into purchasing a bundle is being rewarded by the pay to win algorithm and is completely dominating. It's ridiculous that Activision thinks we are stupid enough to eat up the horse shit they spew.

    15 min video about why SBMM is bad when actually for the majority of casual players it’s great. As an older limited skill casual player I’d never win in random lobbies because there’d nearly always be 1 or more sweaty teams in it. You and your streamer friends have all done the champions quest even with SBMM so it can’t be that bad. The rest of us less skilled should only be matched with similar levels or the majority will have a shitty time which doesn’t help anyone in the long run.
    The argument against SBMM if you take all the emotion out of it is that you want easier lobbies…. Not a good reason to change it for everyone else

      That has been their ( high skill players) argument the whole time in that they want easier lobbies. With regards to streamers they have an engagement and retention goal as well. The better they do the more they return and expand their viewership. So it is to their advantage to have less competitive matches because that means they do better and their viewers stay longer.
      The problem with this machination of streamer is that are they truly as good as they appear them to be? He used the equivalent of boss telling an employee that there are multiple factors to a result. Well his response to not having skill base matchmaking is just as perplexion. You are essentially telling your boss that work is too hard for you and you want an easier job but with the same pay or more.
      Very few of video gamer streamers have the type of entertainment quality that can stand on it's on. There are some but no alot of them are around. As such their results on the game play is what keeps most of their viewers tuning in. I cannot say that I find the tactical britt commentary during gameplay that engaging. I am not being mean either it is what it is. It is his game play that has me checking in to see.
      Now you take another member of his team Stone Mountain 64. I find him very entertaining outside of his game play. The YOLO skits are hilarious and very entertaining. This is what I meant about entertainment content being limited on this space.

      I'll say this...there should be a protected bracket for true casuals. This makes sense. You shouldn't get shit on by YY-ing sweatlords if you only play the game an hour or two a week or are very new. But if you are a slightly above average player like me, hovering around 1.5 KD, your lobbies are INSANE all the time. That doesn't seem fair. It's players like me who represent those watching content, playing the game season after season, and spending $$. Yet for these people the experience is the worst. Because we are not good enough to beat 3+ kd players most of the time, but still have to contend with them. If you play the game an hour a week, why should you get the better experience? You aren't that important to the game's ecosystem. And the best players can beat 99% of everyone else, so they can be competitive in every lobby. It's a tough balance to strike, but it really seems that Activision only cares to cater to absolute casuals, and this actual hurts the long term success of the game, because shit players have no incentive to get better. The extreme aim-assist, the hitboxes that don't reward accuracy, etc.
