Hey, I know almost nothing of self defence stuff, but I feel really informed after watching this video! The you explained things really calm and clearly, with nice footage and editing. Some videos on topics like this from some other channels I watched try (and fail) to get a sort of "epic action movie" or "I am a badass" feel to them which makes them hard to sit through, but not here! I also think your voice is very pleasant to the ear and that you are well-spoken. This was a very good video all around and it was a great watch. Thank you!
Great video! Always have my tactical pen with me. My favorite is the Atomic Bear Rebel as it fits in any environment, is non threatening in appearance, but still can provide a very effective defense when necessary.
@@kova1577 Its purpose isn't to scare somebody, it's to surreptitiously be used as a weapon if needed. Who's scared of a pen? Nobody. And that's what makes it ideal as a hidden secret weapon. It's like if Tyrone grabbed a woman and she pulled out her keys and jammed one into his eye.
My wife does a lot of hiking with our Blue Heeler/German Shepard and I am confident he will protect her. However, I think I need to get her one of these to have a back up plan in case someone attempts to harm her.
I agree with you, Ronno. 100% Just make sure that your wife gets some familiarity with the pen and hopefully, some good practice/training. Carrying it won't help if she has no clue or comfort on how to deploy it. Now... I tell the same thing to my wife. Does she listen to me? Well, that's a whole other video topic. 😂 -Hg

Hi, thank you for making this video! I’m looking to buy something to protect myself since I will be working in a new city this summer and I will be by myself. I am not very strong and I have no knowledge on how to fight. Do you think I should go with a tactical pen or do recommend an other tool ? If so which tactical pen do tou think I should go with? MT6 + MT6 tactical pen accessories (since you can add up a mini-knife and a whistle to the pen?) I’m worried that I wouldn’t be able to defend myself with the Rebel tactical pens if I’m not strong enough. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hello Laurie_Land and thank you for putting trust in me to answer your question. The truth is... it's not so much about the tool, but the actual training that you have with 🖊that specific tool. Just like any tool that we use for home repairs, cooking, camping or even for sewing, you can hoard all the tools that you want; but they are all useless without the skill to utilize them. My advice... pick a tool that you feel that you will be comfortable with; let's say a tactical pen for instructional purposes; get to know everything about that pen, find a good course, various courses on that subject with credible teachers. Use it on a daily basis and make it part of your natural movement. That, will be the best tool for you. If you are interested in tactical pens. Go to coachhelder.com and look up my reviews on The Atomic Bear tactical pens. They have been my go-to pen over the last few years. They also offer online courses. Start there, put in the work, see where it takes you. Good Luck! 🖊 -Hg
How do UK law enforcement view these pens? I have NO intent of using this for self defence. However I could see someone being able to use it as a weapon but you can say the same for steel toe boots, a metal flashlight, a metal flask and many otherthings.
I agree, almost anything can be used as a weapon if wielded correctly. As far as UK law enforcement, I have no experience with them. But... I have a feeling that they wouldn't be in favor. 😉 -Hg

@@bitethatbullet7054 I'd like to know if more about that, I don't intend to use the pen for self defense at all. The build of the pen helps it's durability, means I'm unlikely to loose it. Saying that a man was arrested for having batteries in a sock in his backpack. I assume that was laughed out of court.
Even if you don't know specific techniques, just jabbing someone (a criminal attacker) in the head, arm, leg, or face with a metal object (pen) will be effective to cause them enough pain to be sorry that they messed with you. Don't think you have to spend hundreds of hours with it to justify carrying it. It's a last resort self-defense tool when you don't feel like going to fists just yet. 😉

Tactical pens are more of a gimmick. A stick does more for self defence. Without advanced training with this particular item then you will achieve nothing. Blunt force weapons are easily deflected and need to be used at close range. They have more purpose as a good solid pen that will last a hell of a beating. As a glass breaker they are adequate but not great, there are better tools for that job. Seeing it tested on soft meat is not equivalent to being used on a body part with tendons bone etc or to glass which you rarely see them tested on. As a good rugged pen, great, as a glass breaker it works but it's not great and as for self defence well it's better than nothing but a good closed hand skillset is a much more effective option. More a gimmick than a functional self defence tool.
Sorry to hear that, Walter. Some people are just ignorant. I have a feeling that pen is making it to someone's home tonight. Which pen was it/ model? -Hg
It’s phenomenal I use it to hit elevator buttons open/close public bathroom doors a faucets 😂 also you may need to fight your way to your firearm & it’s great for weapon retention also you can walk around with it in your hand if nervous can’t do that with a gun or knife
