This is the most thorough vid about these boxes I’ve seen on RUclips. Very much needed.

Hey there 👋 absolutely great design and excellent review! Thank you ! Unfortunately too expensive to get in Australia. I'd have to have them shipped as not available here. I'm building similar nut out of wood. Again thanks mate

I've thought about going this route. My only concern was that the boxes seemed a bit too small, but your video shows that they're actually roomier than they appear. They've definitely given a lot of thought to the whole system.

One inch shy of 2 feet wide and deep enough. 17 inches high.

@Air Champ Lofts I've basically been using 12 x 12 nest boxes mounted in a series. They come pre-fab in series of threes. They work well enough, but they are just open front nest boxes designed for poultry. One of the problems in open lofts is that the nest box style can influence infidelity rates. I have 50 individual coops for my key breeders to insure parentage, but there is always a question in the open lofts. You can see the effects of this just looking at birds and pedigrees on auctions. I've seen a lot of birds on auction that clearly were not sired by the cocks listed on their pedigree. For example, you can't produce a Red Check, a Red Bar/Mealy or so-called "Silver" from two Blues. Or a checkered bird from two Barred birds. Etc. That's a result of a different cock jumping the hen. One study done by the late Joe Quinn showed infidelity rates as high as 30% in open lofts and it was probably higher since his "measure" was simply the color of the offspring. Individual coops are always best, but nest box systems like you're using here were found to bring that infidelity rate way down into the single digit chance in open lofts. It's hard to get anywhere with them if we can't control parentage.

@Air Champ Lofts I do agree I like how it can separate the hen and cock. I will eventually have to get some.

Hello welcome back! I was wondering about how things were going with you and the birds. Those nest boxes are very nice and well made. You could even use them for widow hood systems etc. Also if you want to rearrange your loft and move things around it would be easy, unlike wood which is usually nailed or screwed into place. I have never seen these before l watch a lot of pigeon related videos, thanks for sharing your videos. I just had 21 pair of breeders given to me from a top flyer in are club lol... so these would be perfect. Thanks Curtis and God bless...

Thanks for the review. I am trying to decide which way to go for breeding next year. Too late for this year so it’s a hodgepodge for breeding this year. Everything is so expensive no matter which way you go (pre made boxes, compartment cages, or lumber for custom boxes. Good video.

Ya, I had to turn a blind eye to the expense and consider it a one time investment. These boxes were an easy choice for me after trying them for many months.

Hey Brother can you take the dividers out or put them back in without taking the boxes apart, I like the way you left them out but if you wanted them in the beginning of mating can you take them back out with disassembling the unit

Remove the screws from the top of the box, leaving one screw at the back top, enough to lift the top and pull the deviders out. I do it all the time. So the answer is yes. It takes about 3 minutes depending on how many screws you use on the top. I never use all of my screws when putting box together.
